I had the same thing happen only it wasn't cats, about two years ago I had a few to many and tripped and landed on my acoustic and the neck snapped but I didn't realize it till the next morning and not only a broken guitar but a bad hangover to boot,my friend who plays also came over and we sanded all the old glue off and reattached the neck with Elmer's glue and two c clamps and let it sit for 3 days and put the strings back on the neck needed some adjustment so we used a Allen wrench to turn the truss rod and it plays great and the intonation is right on I dont drink anymore except at a Christmas party once a year and at a get together in the summer and everything is put away before I leave ![]()

Well it took some time to get comfortable but I'm making progress the RC lets you record an entire progression then loops the whole thing back so you can add bass, rhythm or keys and the way I have it setup is I use a 4 channel mixer my strat plugs into my ME-50 and into one of the mixer channels the bass, acoustic and aleses rhythm plug into the remaining channels from there they go into the instrument input in the loop pedal the mic runs into a digitech vocalist and into the mic input on the pedal (lots of chords) and out to the amp, right now I'm only useing a small 30 watt ampeg for practice I have been looking at several pa's that are compact and extremely lightweight Yamaha makes one with two speakers on stands it weighs only 40 lbs total and sells for around $600 if I can find one that meets these specs cheaper I will buy it but that wont be for a few months by then I will have enough songs to do a few sets so there's no hurry I will be uploading a video next week to my myspace site useing the RC-20XL should be fun ![]()

Re: Recording advice (14 replies, posted in Recording)
anastasia the only way to record your guitar and vocal at the same time on separate tracks is to plug into two separate inputs I can do that with my BR-8 because there is a separate input for guitar and vocal all I have to do is enable each track and the recording is automatically panned left and right to create a stereo effect but after the recording I can pan each center and adjust the eq's and add effects for each track and then pan them back and open audacity and send it the mixed recording to further edit out the start and end or fade it out and make a mp3 for uploading I will have a look at the micro and see if it has this capability and get back to you,ok I looked at it and theres only one input there is a way around this, you can mic the acoustic and sing quiet to keep it syncronized and then on another track sing the vocal to your recorded guitar this is called over dubbing and multi tracking and unless you have a electric acoustic that is the only way I can see to do what you discribe without buying something like my boss br-8 ![]()

Re: Question re: chord sequence C Am Fm G.... (11 replies, posted in Music theory)
Yes it seems there is yet another definition for this word not sure what you mean by run ins, according to the information provided in your link cadence refers to a pause but there is no pause in the progression C Am Fm G its just that a progression
thanks
I have had a few run ins with cadence (see.... http://www.musictheory.halifax.ns.ca/22cadences.html )... i though this might be another. But i am fairly sure cadences are more than just meter, timing and beats.
thanks
Byron

Re: Question re: chord sequence C Am Fm G.... (11 replies, posted in Music theory)
Byron I have only heard the word cadence referred to in defining meter or beats usually associated with drums or marching and tension with regards to music generally is used when referring to suspended chords or diminished, augmented etc..in the chord sequence C Am Fm G the Fm is a nice alternative to the pedestrian Fmaj ![]()

Re: Question re: chord sequence C Am Fm G.... (11 replies, posted in Music theory)
byron there really is no explanation other then that's the way the composer intended it to be,an F major lends a different color to the pallet the song just sounds better with the F Minor simple as that its kind of like asking Rembrant why did he paint the color of "Blue boy" blue why not some other color? that song is one of my favorites from the early fifties ![]()

Crevs. yes it dose take a little guts to put yourself out there for all to see and cheer or boo that all go's with it I think you did a really nice job for the amount of time you have been playing the only criticism would be your vocal range is probably to low for these keys I would get a capo and put it on the second fret and use the same chord formations you may be pleasently surprised, just a thought ![]()

If a microwave is all you have, buy a frozen meatloaf from a store and spice it up after you heat it.
We have a seasoning around here called "Tony Chachere's" that can make most anything up to and including shoe leather taste better.

Geo its been kinda cool here but warmer weather is coming and I do intend to take advantage of the sunshine being retired I have the luxury and time to do what I want and when, mostly I will practice in the evening with this new gear I dont watch a lot of TV so the only distraction will be my online chess games but Ive put a hold on them I will be concentrating on my new equipment and I will be picking up a FS-6 which is essential for selecting the phrases I wish to loop or playback without bending over to turn the knob.this is all new to me but I did practice with it today and managed to get a rudimentary recording and with time and practice I will get a lot smoother ![]()

Topic: BOSS RC-20XL (14 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
My new pedal was delivered today and this is going to take a little study to get comfy with I just unpacked it and put the batteries in they will do till I get the adapter next week, one of the nice features is it had two inputs for mic and guitar which means I can use my 4 channel mixer to plug in my bass and drum effects unit looks like I will be busy learning the basic functions but I think it wont be to long till I find my way around it. I do have a choice of useing the octave function for bass but I prefer a real bass sound so I'm having a spare mic stand fitted with a holder for the bass so I can just walk over and lay down a bass line this looks like a pleasant challenge so for the next days I will be kicking the tires so to speak and make a video when I feel confident I know my way around it ![]()
