if this ever came to be reality, then i would undoubtedy hide my lovellies in the cellar that i would dig, fitted with a secret door which would have a 30,000 digit combination lock and booby traps! (might just dig one anyway in case the wife gets her PMT's early.)

hi toots, just had to add that this song is maily fiction, though i do know several couples that inspired some of the lyrics. and of course some of it is guilt...

i recently heared phil collins doing "going back". it brought back a lot of memories, so i'm trying to learn it and i've looked it up on my-space and found lots of versions including; dusty springfield, the byrds etc, so i've done my own version which (i think) incorporates all the best parts of all of them. it's a beautiful song by goffin/king. i'd love to hear carol king sing it, any one know if she;s done it?

hi dino, thanks for the review, yes i have recorded it and will put it on my space shortly. i tried to inject a bit of humour into the song. as you may have noticed, it was written in 3 sessions. the verses first, then the melody, then as i was recording i felt there was something missing, so i slapped in the chorus. i was feeling less jokey at that time so it's more depressed, i think.

Just A Slob. by Phill WilliamsUndefined

[Bb] Another day at [Bbmaj7] my house.

I'm [Bb7] reading the paper on the toilet seat.

While she's [Gm] shaving her legs in the bathroom sink.

Then she [Bb7] looks down at me and says; “what are you doing [Eb] today.[F]

[Eb] Watching TV and sleeping the [Ab] day [Bb] away?

And I wait for my cheque to [Bbmj7] come through the door.

But I [Bb7] don’t pick it up till it lands on the floor.

Now, [Gm] that's what I call exercise.

It's [Bb7] good for my back and it works out my thighs.

And I [Eb] tell her, “you should-a [F] picked that up.

And she [Eb] says “I think I [F] do quite enough.

Your a [Eb] slob. Just [Ab] a [Bb] slob.

[Gm]I used to work [F] every day.

But the [Bb] man used to cheat me [Eb6] out of my pay.

Said you [Cm] didn't work so you [F] got no cash to [Bb] day.

[Gm] I sometimes feel like [F] taking a walk.

And [Bb] never coming back [Eb6] again at all.

Just sleeping on the line till the [F] 9.10 comes [Bb] along.

(SOLO)....Bb-Bbmj7-Bb7-Gm-Bb7-Eb-F-Eb-Ab-Bb

So I put on my shoes and I [Bbmj7] walk out the door.

I [Bb7] take a long walk to the bar next door.

And I [Gm] pick out my stool, cos that's where I sit.

And the [Bb7] beers keep coming till I fall off of it.

And they [Eb] pick me up throw me [F] out of the door.

[Eb] Not a long walk cos I [F] live next door.

And she's [Eb] standing there and she [F] shakes her head and she says...

[Eb] Your a slob. Just [Ab] a slob.[Bb]

i was lying in bed last night and i realised that as i play left handed, that i wrote down the fingering for a left hand B. it looks like some of you guessed that and compensated.
keep strumming

i love the B chord, minors majors 7th's augmented's the whole catalogue. i love them so much that i try and put them into every song i write, and even into the songs i didnt...LOL

COME ON GUYS B IS JUST AN A WITH A BARRE. no different to Dbmaj or minor. if you have difficulty playing with a barre, just play the bottom 4 strings using all your fingers; index to F#, middle to D, ring to B, pinky to Gb. how much easier could it B?

there's only 1 problem with micing up an amp for recording and that's the hum and/or buzz from the amp. i know it can be lost in the overall sound, but it's still anoying, to me anyway! and then there's the noise problem; you have to turn up quite loud to get a decent sound. of course if you've got a well insulated and sound proofed studio you've no worries....i have'nt. so i d/i. i'm quite happy with the sound i get from my tele and boss me50.

zurf....respect, that's totally awsome, and no i dont think the two words you were referring to could cause anyone offense. the sound is excellent and the addition of the words in the video window was inspired.

hey buzz

mandatory yank there at the end?

i like to buy compilation cd's theses days, though some of the newer stuff dont quite get the head rockin.

my son got me biffy clyro for christmas which i enjoyed, sort of metal with nice clear vocals, something that puts me off bands like ac/dc is toneless vocals, though they are better than that toneless/tuneless morrisy....poop

hi jamier, i wasnt knocking your reply i was just commenting on how good and deep it was. it's up to knox 87 to say if your near to the mark or not, having read it again it could allude to abortion, miscarriage or even adoption. well mr knox, are you going to enlighten us?

hi jerome, i dont know what kind of foam you have over yonder, but the UK variety is flame retardant. i might agree with the egg cartons though

funny you should mention that!

i played in a band once that recorded in a garden shed and a small caravan. the drummer and me (rhythm guitar) in the shed. lead and bass in the caravan, direct inject, obviously! you may think "hah, small time" but the owner played us Bonnie Tylers demo of "Lost in France", which he recorded, and he'd previously sat in on Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" up in Rockfield!

now for some advice; the cardboard type egg boxes are a good sound proofer, nailed to the walls. or if you've got a few quid to spend, upholstery foam. it'll still be cheaper than real sound proofing. by the by, it's drums that take up most of the room, but they make a lovelly sound!

Some time ago I wrote a song called "Bristol Bound" about a crew of fishermen out in bad weather in an open boat heading home up the Bristol channel. This song is a kind of follow on to that one. I wrote the first line weeks ago, then the rest last Saturday. The chords and melody came Tuesday and I've been struggling to find a second verse since. I then realised that the whole story is in the one verse (with a little instrumental piece at the end). The whole thing only lasts about 2 and a half minutes and is on Sound Click, click at the bottom.

He's Still Gone.Undefined

[D] Where's my [A] daddy?

She said, with [G] tears on her [D] cheeks.

He [D] wont be [Bm] home they said.

For [G] many a [A] week.

[Bm] She [Bm/A] watched the [Bm/Ab] tide come [Bm/G] up.

[Em] She saw the [G] autumn fall.

[D] Winters [Bm] coming soon.

[Em] And he's still [D] gone.

you could well be right, but just like most other daft ideas, eg; "they need a good talking to" PC came from the US!

i've seen a cracker today, they've said their going to come down with the full force of the law on the rioters, two were sentenced to 4 years jail? which means out after 2 years, spent in a holiday camp! and the "human rights brigade" have said it's "against their human rights"

i wonder if they had to give the 12 i-phones, 3 50 inch plasmas, 8 X-Boxes and 3 packs of crisps back?

if i wanted a motorcycle i'd buy a yamaha....and they probably are the same company.

my advice on buying a new guitar, acoustic or electric is; if it looks nice, hold it. if it feels right, play it. if it plays right, buy it. the maker is secondary. and the country of origin is way down the list. i understand the chinese are making some nice copies...if your a newbie, you cant afford to be a snob.

english is my first language and i dont understand why those 3 words would be in the same sentence?

i've got to be honest, like the other mods, i've done a fair bit of banning lately, so i check out the new members with odd names, like; sleewhaphwews...and try to catch these spammers before they can do too much damage.

the funny thing is, i see people joining chordie but never taking part in the forums! i know it took me a while to pluck up the courage to post my first comment (which was on songwriting) but once i got into it and began putting my own songs up and also taking part in the other forums, some i still havent taken part in, i found i really enjoyed being a chordian. some people have been members for years (and are on-line right now) but never taken part. everyone has something to say. so join in and be nice.
