If only it were true!!!

So now we know who is wasting lots of time talking about guitars rather than playing one. tongue

And we also know who are the old and wise. Our big brothers and sisters (or aunts and uncles, or maybe grandmas and grandpas).

Glad to be a part of the great Chordie machine!!!!

A good nap in the spring time when the weather's warm enough to open a window and get a little breeze. And standing in the sunshine for a quick minute in the middle of the day.

Zurf, you forgot about a float tube, kayak, waders, oh wait wrong list.

I myself have 4 acoustics and I really don't know why other than GAS. Been sorta looking at Les Pauls lately. Just remember, need and want are two very different things.

Yamaha is 125 years old.

James Taylor plays a Yami and I do too. What does that mean? Absolutely nothing.

Sounds like a perfect fit for you Tops!! I'm sure they'll be asking you back after your first day. I''l bet that you'll get a lot out of it also.

Got some snow here is southern Califonia. I'm very close to the foothills and it's pretty darn low. Al little is all I can handle. Too cold for me.

From what I gathered, the money pays for the project. Travel expenses, recording equip. guitars, etc.

Someone posted this on Facebook. What a cool idea. I haven't gone thru many of the songs yet.

I agree also. Can't a mod change it?

One of my go to lines to my son is "That's why we can't have nice things". This is said right after he loses or breaks something. I am very strict when it comes to my stuff and letting him use it. He has his own stuff to break, leave mine alone.

+1 on Dino's suggestion. Make her buy her own. Maybe she'll keep better track after she pays for them.

Ok, I'll admit to a dumb one. When I was 16 I had an older Camaro that I was working on all the time. I forget why, but I needed to empty the gas tank. I wasn't quite sure how I was going to do it but then had a great idea. Shop vacs are wet/dry vacs. Gas is a liquid, I'll just suck it out. As soon as the vapors hit the motor a 3 foot flame shot out the blower hole on to of the vac. Can't remember if the vac survived or not. Dumb kids!!!!!

J3 did you burn your picking or fretting hand?

The mods will step in to correct me,

If your "new content" is a song sung by someone else then it cannot be added. Chordie is a search engine and has no database. If it is an original song by you then it can be posted in the songwriting forum.

the good thing about living in california is the weather,it has been right around 60% and pretty sunney most of the time. NO Snow.

Amen to that!! It was 77 today on So. Cal. Such a beautiful day to be outside.

I think snow is great........to look at when it's way up on the mountain away from me.

Needs frets leveled?

Let me point out a few things that I noticed:

"extra money" what is that? I tell my son that I have no money. I'm just the middle man who gets to disperse other people's money.

"warmer weather, mid 50's" Uh, let's just call that "not as cold weather".

+1 what Norm said. Be thankful that for what you can do yourself. Like you said, a service tech ain't cheap.

What's that saying..."when it rains it pours".

I remember the first year or two being awesome. You learn sooooooooo much. When I look back it's funny to remember things that seemed insurmountable in the beginning. Practice practice practice.

I can maybe see the merit in this product as a training tool. On the website it says something to the affect of using it for awhile and then you won't need it anymore. I would say save your money and just practice. No product is gonna make you learn better than actually doing it. Pushing a button is far different than fretting a string. And this thing looks like it makes the next 3 times as thick so it's hard to get your hand a round.

But, if it works for you then by all means go for it.

(Edit: man I am horrible at typing!)

After checking them out online I have found the Hoener special 20 to be the best bang  for the buck. Eventually, if I get one this will be my choice. Now if I could just master the guitar so I don't have to practice anymore....

What you are referring to is called action. It's the space between the frets and strings. The truss rod is not how you lower your action. Sanding the bridge and filing the nut are how you lower action. Unless you are familiar with this type of adjustment you should take it to a shop. It's really easy to go too far and have nothing but buzzing gong on. You'll want to decide on string gauge at that point too. The nut is filed according to what gauge strings you want. If you look it up on Youtube you can find vids on how to do it. Just be careful if you try it.
