Which ever way you go, it probably is simple. I'm not familiar with staining it.

I agree with the power naps also.  Another sad story for me is I haven't been able to take a nap for 25 years or more, but I can lie down anddrift a little for 20-30 min, never actually falling asleep, but I feel as though I took a nap.  It does help.

Welcome James.  I wish I would get off my bottom and try and write songs.  I was a great poem writer in my younger days, but have never tried to write a song.  I think I'm afraid to.  My problem is not the lyrics but the melody.  I am always afraid that it will sound like another song.  There are so many out there.

If you haven't been to a doctor about this, do it.  Lack of sleep will do strange things to your body.  Its a serious matter.

I hope you both come out of your slump.  I have stopped playing for one reason or other all my life.  As Russell said, we all go through those periods.  I have to admit, since I retired I have hardly missed a day with the guitar.  But that is because I have plenty of time now. I hope all goes well soon for you both.
