I woke up this morning, it was cold damp and windy [and that was just the wife...joke?] so something made me remember this little poem[?] I wrote last year...hope you like it.

Early on a winters morn
And the moon's already gone
There's a crispness in the air
And there's ice upon the pond

At 6 o'clock the day begins
For some it's time to sleep
But far away, away in the east
Dawn light begins to break

A robin starts his chirping
Begins the chorus of the dawn
The post man turns his collar up
To cross the frosty lawn

And the grass beneath his feet will crunch
Like cornflakes in his mouth
He longs to feel the heat that comes
With summers warming month

And now as skies are lightening
And the mill of life returns
And traffic belching carbon fumes
Eyes water, chest burn

But this is how we live today
And for one hundred years
Will crispy winter mornings wake us
As we make our way to work.

HI DADDY,

I LOVE OBSERVATION SONGS, SO WELL OBSERVED YOUNG MAN!

ONLY ONLY ONE THING THOUGH...THE CHORUS AFTER THE SECOND VERSE, SEEING AS IT'S A BIT SAD...MAYBE IT SHOULD READ "OH HOW SAD THEY MUST BE..." SEEING AS THEY GET DEAD?
ONLY A THOUGHT, I DONT WANT TO STICK MY NOSE IN WHERE IT'S NOT REQUIRED [AND YOU SHOULD SEE MY NOSE MATE, OR MAYBE NOT!!!] lol
ANY WAY GREAT LITTLE DITTY
KEEP ROCKIN'

THIS ONE COULD BE ABOUT "THE AMERICAN GOLD RUSH" OR MABE ONE ON ANOTHER PLANET IN THE FUTURE SOMETIME, I DON'T KNOW, I ONLY WRITE THE WORDS DOWN AS THEY COME TO ME,
. I'VE GOT AN IDEA FORA TUNE, BUT I HAVE TO LEAVE FOR WORK NOW SO I'LL HAVE TO GET BACK TO IT ANOTHER TIME...OR YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN UP!!!!

HALFWAY TO HEAVEN ON THE ROAD TO PARADISE
HEAD FULL OF WHISKY AND SOME MONEY FOR A WIFE
LOOKING FOR A GAME WHERE MEN WILL BET THEIR VERY SOULS
MUST WIN A WOMAN TO HELP ME DIG FOR GOLD

HALF WAY TO HEAVEN ON THE ROAD TO PARADISE
WON ME A WOMAN WITH JUST ONE ROLL OF THE DICE
SHE CAME WITH BAGGAGE; TWO BOYS AND A GIRL
THEY'LL HELP WITH DIGGING AND PANNING FOR GOLD
[CHORUS]
IT'S A BRAND NEW AGE, AND A BRAND NEW WORLD
AND I MEAN A BRAND NEW WORLD
I'VE SEEN BROKEN MEN WITHOUT A HOPE
COME HOME AS MILLIONAIRES
AND ALL THE RICHES IN THE GROUND, CAN FALL INTO MY HAND...
SO ALL THE PEOPLE IN MY TOWN, WONT LAUGH AT ME AGAIN

THE ROAD TO PARADISE  MEANDERS THROUGH THE STREETS OF HELL
NO TIME TO FALL IN LOVE, MY DEAR, FOR YOU MAY DIE AS WELL
SO MANY LONELY LADIES MADE THEIR WAY TO FIND A MAN
AND SELL THEY'RE SOUL FOR A BAG OF GOLD THAT COULD WELL BE SAND
[CHORUS]
WELL I CAN SEE THE ROAD BEFORE ME LEADS TO PARADISE
AND I WONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS OTHERS IN THE PAST
MY BACK IS STRONG WY WILL WONT BREAK
I'M HERE TO MAKE IT BIG
OR DIE AMONGST THE STONE AND DIRT, I MOVED ON MY DIG
[CHORUS]

Thank you, it's nice to know that I'm not the only early bird, funnily enough I was thinking of you while I was writing it, not that way, but because of that beautiful Valentine song you wrote a couple of days ago.
In all honesty, this began as a kick in the pants for my 2nd son whose been going out with a very abusive and violent girl. We've been trying to get him to to Australia with his older brother [that's what "DONT MESS THIS UP" was about], but he did mess it up!, he got legless Sat night now his brother wont take him, and of course he went to see her that night and all hell broke lose again. Now my wife says he must choose us or her, bad move? It's done now, sorry to burden you with my troubles, on the up side, it's a gorgeous sunny day here too, and warm...is summer coming at last?

Lovely to hear from you

I was browsing through the forum this morning, and as I decided to go to the shop this song popped into me head, so I had to get it down right away , It's my attempt at a Valentines song?
and even though it's called LAY WITH ME, it's not about sex, [unless you want it to be that is?] Please let me know if it reminds you of something else too much.

Lay With MeUndefined

WHEN YOU [A]HOLD MY [Dm7] HAND I [F#m] SHIVER [D]

I JUST [A] SHAKE WHEN [Dbm] YOU ARE NEAR [Bm]- [E]

AND MY [A] MIND FLYES HIGH [Dbm7] LIKE AND EAGLE [D] IN THE [Bm] SKY

IF YOU [A] ONLY [Bm] LAY WITH ME [A]

I'VE GOT NOTHING IN MY POCKETS

I'VE GOT HOLES IN BOTH MY SHOES

BUT MY HEART IS FILLED WITH THE WARMTH THAT YOUR LOVE GIVES

WHEN YOU COME AND LAY WITH ME

CHORUS

[Bm7] LAY WITH ME, STAY WITH ME

[A] SPEND YOUR [Dbm] LIFE IN MY [D] ARMS

[Bm7] WAKE WITH ME [D augmented] EVERY DAY

[A] I'M [Dbm7] HERE FOR [Bm] YOU

THERE'S A DRUM THAT BEATS LIKE THUNDER

I DONT HEAR IT WHEN WE'RE APART

BUT IT BEATS SO LOUD WHEN EVER YOUR AROUND

LAY WITH ME, COS IT'S MY HEART

Just had this idea while I was surfing

Don't mess this upPhill Williams

Don't mess this [G] up

Don't be a fool [D]

You've got your [Em] life to [G] lead

And that's all up to you [D]

You have the [A] chance to make a big thing of your [D] life

And you cant [A] move yourself to into that golden [D] light [D7]

[Em] Why do you [G] want to keep your [D] face down in the dirt

And I [A] can tell you [G] that's not what your [D] meant for

[rep 1st verse]

Your going off the rails, your losing sight

Your giving people that love you a really bad time

Why do you want to keep your face down in the dirt

And I can tell you that's not what your here for

[middle 8]

[Em]Oh, [G] listen to what I [D] have to say

Your only [A] making your [G] troubles hide not [D] go away

[G] Drinking till your senseless [D] gets you in more strife

Put [A] down that glass [G] make it the last

And [D] get on with your life

Your train is leaving soon, pick up your bag

Don't miss this chance to leave this tired old town

And never look back

Why do you want to keep your face down in the dirt

Cos I can tell you that's not what your here for

rep 1st verse

Hi Jets

Nice little number, I may be playing it differently to you, I played it laid back style on acoustic, just strumming, and your right; you can have a pig of a day, but why burden your better half with it, anyway you probably cant get a word in edge-ways with her telling you about the crap day she's had.

Keep `em sweet

This one is done in "12 bar boogie", it's one of those that I started with a title, then wrote a song around it, and I guess it's about "kinky footwear"?

start with the chorus

Killer HeelsPhill Williams

chorus

COS SHE'S GOT...

[A] ONE FOR DANCING, AND ONE FOR DRIVING

[E] ONE FOR WALKING, AND THEY DO ALL THE TALKING

[A] ONE FOR RUNNING WHEN SHE'S SICK OF WALKING

[B] AND ONE PAIR THAT SHE WEARS WHEN WE ARE [B7]ALL ALONE [B7add D]

[E] I USED TO COUNT THOSE LONELY HOURS BY THE PHONE

NOBODY EVER SEEMED TO CALL AROUND MY HOME

I SPENT EACH WAKING HOUR CLIMBING UP THE WALLS

AND LISTENING TO THE TALK ON [E7] DEVIL'S RADIO

Rep Chorus

I SPENT EACH WAKING HOUR WISHING FOR SOMEONE

TO GIVE ME HAPPINESS AND GO OUT FOR SOME FUN

AND THEN ONE DAY SHE WALKED INTO MY REVERIE

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE WAY IT MAKES ME FEEL?

rep chorus

SHE TOOK ME WITH HER TO THE HOUSE OF PURPLE DREAMS

SHE CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER WITH HER KILLER HEELS

AND NOW I'VE TURNED INTO A CREATURE OF THE NIGHT

SHE TAKES ME TO THE STARS ON KILLER HEELS TONIGHT

THIS IS A BLATANT ATTEMPT AT FOLK/ROCK MUSIC. I HAVE BEEN GREATLY INFLUENCED BY JETHRO TULL SINCE THE 70's.
I PLAY THIS WITH A CAPO ON THE 5th FRET, SO THE "F" IS A "C"SHAPE ETC. IT'S A WALTZ
I DONT REALLY BELIEVE IN "FAERIES".

CHANT TO CALL THE RUNEPhill Williams

[F] OF LATE I HAVE BEEN [C] DREAMING [Dm] TALES OF FAERIE [Am] FOLK

WITH THEIR [F]MAGIC AND THEIR [C] WISHES

AS THEY [Dmaj] TAKE AWAY YOUR [G7] HOPE

HOW THEY [F] DANCE IN THE [C] DARK WOODS

HOW THEY [Dm] WEAVE THEIR FAERIE [Am]SPELL

WHILE THEY [F] PLY YOU WITH THEIR [C] GOLDEN CROWNS

THEY [D7] DESPATCH YOUR SOUL TO [G7] HELL

chorus

PLAY [Bb] PIPES AND DANCE [F] THE NIGHT AWAY [C]BENEATH A FAERIE [F]MOON

IN A [Bb] RING OF GOLDEN [F] DAFFODILS

AND A [C] CHANT TO CALL THE [F] RUNE-[Bb] OOH-[F] OOH[C] OON

SO LISTEN GREAT OBERON;                          (REP CHORDS FROM 1st VERSE)

YOUR TRICKS WONT WORK ON ME

FOR I AM MADE OF FLESH AND BONE

AND SAIL A SHIP AT SEA

SWEET WINE AND RINGS OF MARIGOLDS AND LAY BENEATH A SKY

WITH STARS AND MOON AND BATS THAT CALL

A HAUNTING LULLABY

rep chorus

FIGURES MOVING IN THE GLOW OF A FIRES DANCING FLAME

THEY GAMBOL LIKE A LEAF THAT SHIVERS IN WINTERS GALE

I FIGHT TO SAVE MY SOUL FROM BEING TORN OUT THROUGH MY EARS

BUT IT'S TOO LATE THE RUNE HAS COME, I LIVE MY GREATEST FEAR

rep chorus

OH GREAT OBERON YOU'VE WON AGAINST MY WILL   (REP CHORDS FROM 1st VERSE)

I HAVE NO STRENGTH I HAVE NO FIGHT

YOU HAVE THE MAGIC STILL

I HAVE NO WINGS, I CANNOT FLY                (REP CHORDS FROM 2nd VERSE)

AND I AM TOO TIRED TO FIGHT

DON'T PLY ME WITH YOUR GOLDEN CROWNS

AND FAERIE RINGS TONIGHT

rep chorus

PLAY [Bb] PIPES AND DANCE THE [F] NIGHT AWAY [C] BENEATH THE FAERIE MOON [F]

IN A [Bb] RING OF GOLDEN [F] DAFFODILS

AND A [C] CHANT TO CALL THE RUNE [F] OOH Bb] -OOH [F] -0OH [C]- OON X2

THE DREAM BEGINS TO DARKEN, MY EYES BEGIN TO FAIL    (REP 1st VERSE CHORDS)

BUT THE MORE I SEE THE LESS I FEEL

AND THEY DRAG MY SOUL AWAY

HOW YOU DANCED IN THE DARK WOODS       (REP CHORDS FROM 2nd VERSE)

AND YOU WEAVED YOUR FAERIE SPELL

AND UPON YOUR HEAD A FAERIE CROWN

DESPATCH MY SOUL TO HELL

rep chorus
