06 if you have the audacity program up and running just borrow a microphone and use the adapter to plug in your pc and record the acoustic track and your vocals and go to the recording section there are separate sections you can request a bass or drums or whatever you need and as a suggestion open a mediafire account and upload your tracks and provide the link to the folder on mediafire so we know where to download it and add some other tracks for you,its up to you if you just want to record the song at your friends house that's ok too and if you dont have a myspace website to feature your songs its easy to register as an Artist so you will have a media player on your site and if you need any help with designing your site go to my web link there's a coolchaser free profile link on it and I can help you there to walk you through the steps and you can pick out what kind of background or theme you want its a lot of fun really smile

yes if you look in the post "recording basics" theres a link to sourceforge.net and you can get it for free just click on the link and download the audacity program if you read the posts in that topic there is also a link to a program called "lame" its also free and it enables the audacity program to turn your recordings into mp3 files so you can play them or upload them anywhere if you need help getting started with audacity I have several video tutorials from my mediafire link at the bottom of this post just click on it and download the first three audacity tutorials or all of them if you wish but you will need 1 chord to hook up your microphone or mixer to your computer and the videos show you all you will need but first dowload audacity and the lame program to get started and then the tutorials I will guide you through the steps that are necessary to start recording if you have any questions or have problems downloading give a holler smile

So you need to have Audacity, correct?

That is my only thing. I do not have Audacity or any other computer based software. So I would love to help but I don't want to say yes and not actually be able to. Ya know?

Stretch papa if you read the "sticky" about the "chordie musicians network" what we are trying to accomplish is to have members submit there songs for assistance with adding various tracks be they rythem or lead guitar bass keyboard whatever they would go to the section for the help they need simple as that and if the person they contact agrees to collaborate on a project with them(there song) they would send the words if all they needed was melodie if they had a recorded mp3 they would make it available on either mediafire as a folder for you to download and use the audacity program to open it and add your part and send it back, you can register at mediafire free and if you so choose make it a permanant link by going to your chordie profile and including it with your avitar so it will appear everytime you post or just post your mediafire link when your done with the tracks and alert the person that there song is ready to be picked up if you have any questions feel free to ask  russell smile

James you mean you only had one person visit and play your songs or should I say song lol thats ok we all know you had a great deal more then that and my total plays are only 744 but they were over 4200 last time I looked and yours were something like 12,000 or more so it looks like I got to get busy and get some more new songs uploaded before theres cob webs on my profile page lol

James McCormick wrote:

OK - So I just visited my own MySpace Music page. Seems that the coding gnomes have made some progress:
The 'total plays' and 'plays today' counters have been reset to 1.  However, I have had more than one total plays since the page has been up.

However; The lyrics won't show.  The song graphics and labels are all messed up.  I checked the 'Manage Songs' page and things look all wrong . . . . I am afraid to mess with anything for fear it will get even more screwed up.

I am embarrassed for the fine people who make MySpace work.  This was supposed to be big splashy surprise when they debuted the new player and all it's new functions.  Instead, it has been a big messy headache.

The cry baby wah is used for other porposes as well, namely to act as a sort of equalizer when the overdrive or sustain pedals are used in conjuntion with it you can get some nice tones by adjustiing the frequencies when the distortion is engaged with a little delay just by moving the pedal down for more treble or up for more bass smile

06sc500 wrote:

I borrowed the Cry Baby Original from a friend over the weekend, and I have to question why it's worth $70.  What does it do besides one "wah" sound that can barely even be heard on single notes? Is it just this one, or are all Original Cry Babies limited to one sound?

That's odd Roger I was just going to ask you to come to America! of course you will have to stow away on some oil tanker and eat peanut butter for several days and when you get to the states you will need to hitchhike to Wisconsin and I will let you sleep in my closet lol because I live in a one room efficiency apartment so I look forward to seeing you real soon lol of course I may just win the lottery or some African prince will send me a notice notifying me of the millions of dollars waiting to be deposited in my bank account if i provide him with all my personal information (sure I will, when pigs can fly) but I appreciate the offer and I hope your optimistic view is correct smile

thats good to hear 06 Randy will have to take most of the bows for pointing you in the rignt direction with the pluggins i just downloaded them to and installed them in both of my audacity programs and if your wondering why I have two its because some requests for help with adding tracks are either with the new 1.3.5 version of audacity or the old and strangly enough one wont work on the other hense the two audacity programs, and if your inclined add your name to one of the sections for the instruments you can play and help someone else with there songs if they request it (thats why the mediafire link is there) we are uploading and downloading tracks to be worked on or sending the results of what we added tracks to if you get a chance read the "Idea 2 posts" and you'll see what this is all about. You can always get a myspace account as an "artist" that way you can upload your songs to a player and we can all give a listen if you need any help setting it up or with the design for your profile page let me know and good luck with your recordings smile

A pretty lady? with my luck she'll look like Quasimodo lol I dont care what the drummer looks like and long as he can count to four,we rescheduled for the 17Th of October so that should give the newbies to this project ample time to work with the tracks we laid last night and for my voice to mend (I'm doing my best to sound optimistic in the face of aridity) I dont think its working because down in my gut its saying "bull feathers" but I'll get over it I always do and be my cheerful self in a day or so,,, smile

Roger Guppy wrote:

Oh well you cannot win them all Russ, but on the bright side you will end up with a real drummer and a pretty lady to sing the backing vocals, well worth the wait I reckon.

The session went fine we recorded the acoustic guitar, bass and piano tracks but my voice selected the wrong time to crack on me so the vocals will have to be done over and my guitar solo will be recorded when I come back early next month. It was a disappointment but all things considered the best thing to do.Some good news,The owner has arranged for a real LIVE drummer to record the percussion tracks this will make a big difference in the final results and he suggested a female singer to sing harmonies so I said "give it a shot it might turn out good"none of the added personal will cost me more anymore and may lead to other projects. My final thoughts: when you record at home there is quite a difference in not only sound quality but mixing quality as well, and in the studio your "under the gun" and the smallest of screw ups will go noticed and must be redone. At home we tend to ignore these little "boo boos" in favor of quickly uploading them and hoping nobody will notice them, or if they do, dismiss them as unimportant because they add the "human element" and give the song character but in a recording studio no such leeway is granted because you are not controlling the equipment your working with a sound engineer who dose this for a living and its there job to ferret out boo boos that you would let pass,to be sure it was a good session but not everything went as planned (my plan) I was of the opinion a finished recording would result and I would have something to upload for everyone to listen to but nooooooooooo it didn't happen, and will have to wait because the "pie"is still in the oven so more on this when there is more to tell smile
