The media player has a "buy"option this is so all the major artists like Clapton can retail there songs direct from myspace I dont think its a free option and I think the option to have more then six songs might cost some bucks also

Kenny thanks it should be a lot of fun,I know its serious business (I have to pay for the session) and there's bound to be some jitters (normal) but I have one of the best piano players on the planet,Gary Haseley, who has recorded with me in the past on other projects on board and I have arranged for some special lighting for videotaping in the studio I made a checklist of everything I need to bring along (not taking any chances) to the studio, the session starts at 7pm and I will be there at 5:45 to hook everything up, get a sound check, and run through the song.We will be useing a baby grand piano (Steinway) for the keyboards and also adding some strings with the Korg synth. I think I covered every base and unless some aliens abduct me or any unforeseen events occur the session will go as planned smile

I am doing my recording session tomorrow at traxx 52 and I am going to play a lead solo in my song "another day" so an idea crossed my mind what if...I plug my guitar in the digital BR-8 recorder and use the effects patches and run from my left and right outs useing the same chord I plug into my computer and put an adapter on the small stereo plug that will let me plug into my small epiphone amp and use the delay and sustain on the effects loops or patches on the BR-8 and see if it will kick it out of the amp in theory it should work so I gave it a shot and what came out of the amp was the sweetest sustain and delay I ever used so.... im taking my recorder and my small amp to the session and let them mic the amp with there excelent studio microphones and I worked out a nice solo that allows for a little diversity so it dont sound to contrived I cant wait to unleash some pent up energy and rip a few licks off and several people will be in the recording booth so I know my ego will fuel my creativity, humility has no place when your struttin your stuff, theres a time to rip and a time to refrain from embracing a time for every purpose under heaven (Ecclesiastes chapter 3 1:5) well thats not exactly how it go's but it points out theres a time for everything and humility can wait a few minutes till after im done with my guitar solo smile

I was able to download vst effects from here http://sourceforge.net/project/download … 0.4.15.exe and get them to work...
after download....when you install it....save it to your desktop and it will create a plugins folder there with all the vst effects(about 90 of them)....open that folders and copy and paste all the files from there into your audacity plugins folder....open up audacity and they should be under your effects list then...

This is a nice first effort and I think if you feel you should modify the lyrics to reflect your feelings for this girl leave the lord out of it otherwise it sounds like a epitaph but its well written and as kap says learn chopro formating its really not that hard in chopro an easy song like "mary had a little lamb" what you need to do is use [song} in [ ] lower case brakets I had to use a } uppercase braket or it would have turnned chopro on then {t:for title and enclose it with a } uppercase braket and all chords are capital like [C]mary had a little lamb [G]little lamb [C]little lamb ect.. that will put the chords in blue print over the words where the chord change occurs and a minor is expressed as [Gm] capital G small m in brakets for the chorus {soc} abbreviation for "start of chorus" and {eoc} for end of chorus the chorus prints out like italalics and at the end of the song you have to put [/song] this turns off the chopro formating it only looks hard but its easier to learn then some video games ive seen smile

Did you download the tutorials? ok the first thing you will have to do is open the audacity program next you will have to click "edit" and scroll down to preferences and click that on and make sure the box that says "play other tracks while recording new ones is checked and click "ok" now on the right of the audacity screen there is a a picture of a small microphone and next to it is a arrow pointing down click on this arrow and a dropdown screen will appear click on "monitor input" and turn your volume on your guitar up and if you don't see any red meters moving after you play a chord click on the little microphone you should get some meter movement this tells you there is a signal comming in so all you have to do is put on your headset and click "record" the little red button in the row of buttons and start playing your will see a wave form, that is your guitar so record what you want and click the "stop" button and then click the 1st button "skip to start (thats rewind) and press the one next to it the "play"and you should hear what you recorded,to add a new track all you have to do is click record and it will play the track you recorded while recording a new one after you have recorded all the tracks you will have to pan them that control is on the left with the track volume for each track just move them so the vocals are in the center and the guitars are left and right and when your finished click "file" and select "export as a mp3" a screen will come up and ask you for the name and thats all you have to enter click ok and wait the audacity program will send a mp3 file to your "my documents" or just "documents" and if your not satisfied you can do a "quick mix" from the edit screen but before you get into the effects or editing make sure you have a mp3 sent to your files and it will ask you do you want to "save" this project in your satisfied with the results say no if not you can always remix or re record and if you run into any snags give a holler russell smile

06sc5oo yes you can plug your guitar into your computer but you will need an adapter plug, it has a female on one end that you plug your guitar into and a 1/8 inch mono plug on the other end that plugs into the microphone input on the back of your computer I would suggest downloading the first three tutorials on audacity from my mediafire link at the bottom just go to the audacity folder on mediafire and click on the "audacity" folder it will open up and reveal all the tutorials they are all wmv format so they should be viewable with your media player you can buy the adapter at radio shack for less then $5.00 just plug your guitar chord into the female end and plug the small mono plug into your mic input on the back of your pc as far as vocals you can use the same adapter if the microphone chord has a guitar plug !/4 inch(regular ol guitar chord end) the quality of your vocals will depend on your voice for one but the better the microphone the better the results so it really comes down to how much you have to spend but if you go to a music store you may ask if they have any used sure sm58 mic's if not ask if there is a mic that is comparable at a lower price, you never know you might get a bargain but if any members who read this post can point the way to a decent mic that is inexpensive please chime in russell smile

I think you can just start the record on audacity normally and after recording rewind(snap to beginning) and move your cursor to just before the wave form starts and highlight the area moving right to left to the beginning and then select "edit" and scroll to "silence" click and the noise will flat line and be gone smile

Doug_Smith wrote:

You know Roger,  In some circles the stocks you pictured there would not be considered instruments of punishment.... but rather "playground equipment".  LOL

Actually though, finding a quiet space is quite difficult (especially with a sensitive microphone).  It can be helpful to record a few seconds of that "quiet noise" at the start of each track (10-15 seconds) so you can run the noise elimination algorithm through your finished track to help filter out those ambient contaminants.  Be aware however that you might suffer some loss on the parts you want because the noise eliminator blanks out parts of the frequencies you might want to retain.  It might take some tweaking to get just the right amount of filtering.

Otherwise you are kind of stuck with the stocks and duct-tape solution!

   Happy Recording!  Doug

Sadly they are not, nor likely to be members of Chordie because neither of them play anything with strings attached!

This will be used by members seeking other members who are willing to help each other and it is open only to members of chordie, there is no charge for anything only a willingness to volunteer a little of your spare time to add a part to someones song it could be lyrics or guitar both lead and rhythm. Your skill level is not important some of the requests may come from a writer who cannot play an instrument or read music and only has words, there are many members of chordie who fall in this catagory or it could be someone who has recorded or written a musical arrangement and is unable to compose lyrics if you can contribute your talent to help remember what go's around comes around kind of like good karma (we need all we can get) so any questions you have fire away! russell smile
