Phil I got over the pain several times its a recurring event and I didn't consciously intend to go biblical the words kinda popped into my head so I wrote them down I was searching for a title and settled on the second line "your eyes do betray you windows to your soul"as a theme for the whole song and we are like minds when it comes to out love of music thankyou smile

Helena thank you I think what pleases you sounds great to me well if you agree with phil then I guess it is biblical I value both of your opinions and friendship so who can say how the words came to me I do not openly endorse any faith mine is a one to one relationship thats all i can handle and im glad you enjoyed this smile

Totally_unique13 very kind of you I may need a good press agent some day lol and I know where to look smile

Thanks Roger yep its another "park bench" inspiration I was sorta in a Neil young mood and this was the result I have two more and I will try to get one up today and as long as the weather cooperates I will find my way down at the lake on my favorite bench pickin and grinnin and videotaping so I wont forget the feel and chord changes and make a few bucks on the side, thats the plan and thanks again for the nice comments smile

Roger Guppy wrote:

Good one Russ,

Great recording and as others have said the mandolin certainly adds to the overall effect. Is this another 'park bench' song or did inspiration come from elswhere? Whatever, it is a great song, thank you.

Thanks Ark I appreciate your comment, the mando is a fun instrument to play and the chords are not all that hard to learn the tunning is the same as a violin but most chords can be made with only two fingers its just that the fretboard is very narrow compared to a guitar and for someone with large hands and fingers it takes a little time to get comfy with but I have small hands and I didn't have any trouble adjusting to it smile

I liked this one.
The Mando is real nice has a great sound the is picking spot on.

The wife bought me a Mando a few Christmas's a go. I got out it and had a go and thought man this too hard.... have to learn all the chords all over again  smile so it hanging up in it's gig bag.
But it certainly sounds sweet maybe I will get it out again.....

thanks doug yea sometimes you get on a roll and the tunes in your head just need to come out I have one more I will work on tomorrow and all of the songs are from videos I saved from jammin at the lake they kind of sat in my files for a week or so till the creative juices started flowing but its always like that with composing no ideas and then the flood gates open smile

Doug_Smith wrote:

Wow Russell, you are just a composing machine lately aren't ya!  Isn't that like one-a-day?  Next thing we'll have to find you an agent!

Very nice tune, meaningful lyrics and I really liked the Mandolin accompaniment..... Jolly Good!

Roger thank you for your comment and it was cool chatting with you on gmail the other day I get to speak with a lotta people that way and its funny caus there voices sound different then your mental picture of what you think they sound and I kinda put my hat on the bench and primed it with a few bucks and some loose change so they could take pity on a begger lol

Hi Russell,

Another great song from you with nice harmonies too. thank you.

By the way I hope you had your hat on the ground and made plenty of cash whilst playing in the park smile.

Roger

Sell the electric and go with what you feel you can best express yourself with. You feel more comfortable with the accustic thats why you always grab it first so why fight it smile

Thanks kap I do appreciate that, this song took a lot more time to put together. I had a basic chord progression and no words then I remembered a video I made of myself playing a rough version of the chord changes when I was sitting at the lake kinda busking ( I made 8 dollars) enough for ice cream and a store bought pizza, and i wrote the changes down from the video and the 1st verse and after that I had a easier time arranging the rest of the song but the mixing took the longest it usually will being the last step sometime I'm gonna plunk down the bucks for some studio time and let somebody else who gets paid to do it take the reins then all I will have to do is play and sing,I have a friend who owns traxx studios in mequon wisconsin we were in the same band quite a while ago and remained friends for the last 30 yrs he offered me a really special rate something like $35.00 an hour and.........I think I will take him up on his offer his equipment is the best in the industry and his studio is the only grammy winning studio in wisconsin and is located only 10 miles from me ive done some commercials for him so he owes me a few favors and working with top notch session musicians, well it dont get any better then that smile

Marc I play 7 differen't instruments,im not sure what song your refering to as far as a steel slide but yes I play steel slide the song "Another new day" I used accustic. manual drum pads.electric guitar with the boss br8 effects for making a guitar a bass. and a lead track with a little bit of reverb.delay and chorus the vocals were double tracks so all in all I recorded 8 tracks with two differen't mixes the one i first uploaded was just mixed with the br8 the other with audacity one track at a time as far as singing harmony its something I have been doing since i was 5 with my sisters and mother and its sort of natural and thanks for the nice words I appreciate that and I will keep them tunes rolling i have 3 more to record what a great life music is smile

marcalan wrote:

Russ how many instruments do you play? Is that you on a steel slide? Great tune..Im curious about singing harmony with yourself..I can attest to the number of retakes that I do in recording, let alone trying harmonizing... I could never afford real studio time..Well done and keep those tunes rolling..marcalan
