Mailed ya back there Bill !!

Have you considered a headlight?  Really handy for working in those tight spaces, and beats the heck out of cussing around the flashlight clenched in yer teeth.  wink

Howdy Bill!  Dondra too !!!

It happened to me also.... that thing when you get wordy with your response and wind up logged out before you get to hit the submit button.  So this is my second try at this just shorter....

I think you can glean enough good info from this manual to get it done.... and if not, I'm e-mailable and have a copy stored locally so we could get our heads together and figure it out.

Peace & Love

Good to hear Zurf!  It's really been awhile since we've seen a post from him, and sometimes have to wonder if the Family is OK. There are others that come to mind that have been MIA of recent time,

Hope to hear from him in the near future & get filled in on his musical adventures etc.

There is always Tenor Guitar, which is not too far removed from a Uke (4 strings).    smile
Here's an example:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elULT2YpTGU

Just takes a "little" practice.....

Is there a central location where people automatically post their latest and greatest works... or is it more that you know all of this on a personal basis??  smile

Yup. you can post lyrics (we call 'em "poems" without music in Poetry), Poems with music (scores or chords) in Songwriting, and your recordings/links to vids (for comments or "bragging rights") in My Local Band & Me.  Wander around a bit and you will become familiar with the general contents of all the sections, but if you should misplace one.... we are awfully forgiving and the Moderator for the section will likely move it to the more appropriate section and let you know why.

The only thing that we are particularly picky about is that songs posted in the Forums should be "original" work, and that commercial (as in selling something) links are Verboten.  We try to enforce copyrights as much as possible, and by publishing your own stuff here on Chordie, you actually give provenance to your ownership of your composition(s) should need arise to support yourself against infringement.  Videos and recordings of "covers" are OK as long as the original composer or artist is mentioned.

Wowser!!!  Reported yourself huh?  That'll get you noticed for sure..... not that we make a habit of ignoring new folks.  Welcome aboard the most friendly forum in music!!

You mentioned the Portland Ukegals?  am I making acquaintance with another Northwest Chordian? (your profile does not list a location, and it need not be specific) There is another thread here in the chat corner where UJB is plotting folks on a global map, you might add yourself to the list.

Anyway just wanted to add my Welcome to the group.....

Have Fun!

I check out his blog once in awhile..... but his last posting on it was the 12th of the month.  Sounded a little down by my reading, but hopeful things will improve.  My guess is that Dondra is still having issues and Bill is doing best as can to stay supportive and keeping up with his daily "chores", which might not leave much free time for other activities.

We keep them in our prayers, and look forward to hearing from them when it is convenient on their end.

OK DE, we'll take your word for it..... everyone was having such a great time that folks forgot to snap a photo or push record, or....???

It's hard to feel envy til we see something that proves it "actually happened"!!  (Hint..Hint)  wink  wink

Well this was a good topic for discussion you came up with Scott.  At this moment (mid to late afternoon on a Monday) there are around 300 folks wandering around the site getting the information/music/educational stuff they were looking for, without feeling a need to reach out and ask for assistance.  To me that says "Chordie is doing a fair to middling job of doing exactly what it was intended".

On the other hand you DO have Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and such services filling the Social Networking Role(s), much as they were intended to(as Seinfield would say "not that there's anything wrong with that")..... not so much "my thing" but for the younger folks out there "right-on!".
We remember when Bulletin Boards were the social-networking venue, but these days Forums are more perceived as the "help/support" section as opposed to the "chat room", so I'm not overly concerned about the "tides of contributions".

I assume you are using the (native) edge browser that packs with Win 10..... you might have had something like ad block plus running in your old version and it did not automatically retain that with the new install.  See if it is available for you and give that a try (it sure seems to stop ads everywhere else).

Why not record this song using the voice recorder of Windows 10, then enter the mp3 to the riffmaster pro software to slow it down.

Yup, or feed it to Chordify.com and see what it comes up with...... might help to know it appears like he's in drop D tuning.

Looking forward to the stories, photos, and videos after (or during).....

PAARRRTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEE OOOOONNNNN !!!!

PS: Be safe and Have FUN !

Good Morning Steve,  Well according to a text reference I have which is: Guitar Chords, printed by Flame Tree Publishing (a handy book to have for figuring out some of those "strange" chord variations):
"Where two or more chords appear within a single bar, the division is shown by a dot or diagonal line after each chord to indicate another beat."

So I would think that a / for each additional beat would be most common and easier to read in most cases. If for no other reason that most folks would be more familiar with it IF it appears...... usually we know what the tune is supposed to sound like (from recordings) and adjust as needed to fit the song.

Kevin,  Sounds like you got yourself pretty well set up..... and especially the pre-emptive bauble part! wink

You will have so much FUN!!!!  Getting familiar with the toys and goodies.  But don't overlook the good set of headphones, so you can practice without driving the neighbors batty.  Also useful when sitting in the evenings tweaking your recordings and merging tracks or laying down your own "backing tracks".  There is a section here on Chordie devoted especially to Recording with info about software and even a directory for getting back-up musicians if you've a hankering to get elaborate.  Russell Harding (the section Moderator) is a virtual "Gold Mine" of info and has posted many vids of his stuff in sort of a tutorial fashion for the benefit of Chordians everywhere.

Enjoy, and above all drop by once in awhile & let us know how and what you are doing.

Doug

Well Bob, I might have an answer for you on the editing to fit-the-page issue.  First off, I don't keep a songbook here on Chordie...... the tunes I want I print and store on my portable hard drive in .pdf file format.  With all the songs stored as individual pages, I can edit as needed, or move into another document such as a set list at a whim.

You would just choose "Print to File" in your printer options, and choose "multipage pdf", assign it a filename and folder, and hit print.  Your entire book would then be copied (printed) onto your drive and you will be able to view edit and change fonts, margins, line spacing, etc at will. The added option of choosing and printing individual songs with specific formating (like extra wide margins for punching) is easier as well.

Welcome to Chordie!

I think your post was moved here from another section because the answer to your particular question/problem  has been at least partially addressed somewhere in this "About Chordie" section.

You might want to read through a few topics and see if any of the earlier posts might contain the solution.  If not, then we will need a bit more information from you, such as the device you are using (mobile, tablet,PC, Mac, etc), Operating system & browser (including version), type and model printer (for possible software issues)...... and maybe one of our "techie gurus" can come up with an easy fix for you.

Welcome to Chordie!!  How much stuff you need, will depend a lot on what kind of things you want to do and why.  A small home studio only needs a DAW and a PC with enough hardware to support it.  A couple of good microphones, headphones, and recording media to preserve your tracks/finished tunes.

So tell us a little bit about yourself and I'm sure you can ask questions and get informed and valuable advise from the community to help you achieve your goal without going broke.

California Jam 1975 (?) San Bernadino,  one of my "lost weekends"..... good show and a great memory (the little I still have).  I especially remember the hangover and sunburn, and ELP!

Just letting you know we haven't overlooked your request.  Those guys are good, but he's playing a Tenor Guitar, so the tuning is just a best guess.....
could be banjo tuned or a 4th or 5th.  I'm thinking that a recording sent through chordify.com might yield a result you can build from.  Sorry but there's a couple strings missing on that classic archtop, and I get confused easily in my old age.

Good Luck;
Doug

Welcome back to the Forums Kodiak!!  Nice to have another Northwesterner among us.

Don't envy you the commute though..... every time you step off the plane to be wearing entirely the wrong wardrobe.  smile
Not one to talk though, I'm that "socks and sandals" guy.  You know knit watch cap, hoodie, shorts, wool socks and.... yes, sandals (as long as the slush isn't too deep).  Check in more often as there's a good bunch of folks hanging around.

Welcome to Chordie Paco!!

You didn't include a location in your profile, so you might mention whereabouts you hang your hat.  There's a fair to middlin' chance you got a Chordian right around the corner (sort of).

Anyhow a big Howdy from the Pacific Northwest!

Welcome to Chordie!!

See, already you are beginning to feel right at home..... there is a fine bunch of folks (like you) hanging about the forums and I'm sure you will make friends quickly.  You might mention more specifically where you can be found on your weekend jams, we've plenty of members within reasonable distance of you that might drop in for a pint and few tunes.

Not advocating drinking and driving, you know, but we have visions of efficient public transport that doesn't feel adverse to musicians traveling with instruments (properly cased of course, as an an exposed instrument on public transport might cause some grief or concern).  wink  The view from this side of the pond may be blurry though.

Welcome aboard!!

Are you sure you don't have him mixed up with George Harrison?  George Martin was their promoter/producer and arranged some of their music.  Still significant in the Beatles' career, but not really the "5th Beatle"...... more like the silent 6th.  smile
