A little late to the party but welcome aboard Kim. http://www.desismileys.com/smileys/desismileys_3289.gif

So you don't need to go searching for it, here is a link to the last page of that thread.

Notice that I don't look like I'm pooping when I solo. I used to and actually had to practice making less faces when I play.

Kinda like John Mayer?

I'll throw in my 2-bits. (Inflation ya know?)

But first I gotta tell you. Love the avatar and sig lines. Been meaning to mention this since the first time I read them but never got around to it.  I didn't see it when it was new but when it went into syndication I used to watch Firefly whenever it was on.

But on to your concerns.

I've been here a little over two years. When I joined, it wasn't a really active forum. Yes, there were new posts every day but not pages of them like another forum I visit. Usually a half dozen or so a day. It was a small core group that did all the posting and that actually intimidated me somewhat. But it all worked out. A friendlier group you couldn't ask for.

I don't know what it was like before I got here but from my point of reference, the forum has become more active; especially in the last 8 months or so. There are quieter times where things slow down a bit but overall I've seen an increase in participation since my newbie days. Maybe it's because I'm in the "Over 40" crowd but I enjoy the closeness of a smaller group. It feels more like a family or a group of long time friends.

Like Amy said; members come and go. I've left quite a few forums behind for one reason or another. Usually because they went in a direction that didn't appeal to me. Then there are times when life gets in the way and I spend more time doing the everyday things that need done.

And you're right about the gadgets. I tried the electric guitar a couple years ago and didn't enjoy playing it. Yes it was easier on the fingers but I find  the acoustic to be so much more expressive. I sold the SG back in December. Couldn't see any reason to keep it around when it didn't get used.  I don't use any effect pedals, amps or other electronic stuff so I rarely go in to that section. Although I'm going to get myself a loop station this year. One of the guys I play with got one over the winter. What a cool device!

So hang in there.

Give him enough time to work on those 6 steps. Then as his confidence grows you can blast him with the next 6. smile

Good Luck with your new adventure Zurf.

Boy does that bring back some memories. It was only 6 years for me but I too was kicked in the gut and I recall the pain. It doesn't go away quickly or quietly, but it does eventually fade. You begin to remember the good throw the bad out the door.

Hang in there.

Hi Bob,

A lot of folks were having issues with their songbook after the changeover. Our tech guru, MKM, has helped clear most of them up.

Go to this thread and see if you can find an answer here.

If not, make a post there and it will be looked into.

Hi Russell he was found with a gunshot in the head I think,so I guess they are thinking suicide.I read it off Bing home page news.

I read that as well.

I considered the possibility that he may have developed a medical problem that was not treatable and did not want to take the slow road to the end. Now just so there are no rumors started here, this is only my thought. It's not something I read anywhere. I'm sure the facts will come out in time.

I dont know how to do  a link.

I'm not all that tech savvy either but making a link is fairly easy.

Up there in the address bar where right now, you will see www.chordie/forum......

Go to any address bar, move your cursor over top of it. In this case it would be the address bar at your youtube video. Now click once on the right mouse button. The address bar will turn blue and a small box will open up with options in it. Move the cursor over "copy" and click on that. Now come back to chordie and start your post. Write a sentence or two as you did above. When you're ready to put the link in the post, click on the right mouse button again. The same box will open up only this time scroll down to the "paste" button and click that. Voila! You have a link.

Here is a direct link to your greeting.

I was fortunate to have seen ELP a couple times in the late 70's. Extraordinary shows.
