Aikido, our Admin is looking into your suggestions.  In the meantime Doug's idea isn't a bad solution!  If "print to file" isn't giving you a PDF option, you may have another choice.  When the print dialog box opens, look for the PRINTER itself.  You should see the name of your printer there, and a dropdown to change the printer.  You may have an option to choose "Microsoft Print to PDF" or "Foxit Phantom PDF printer" if you're using Mozilla Firefox.  These "virtual" printers will save your file directly as a PDF.  The downside to this however, is that not all software will create a PDF that you can actually edit.  Try it out though, and see what happens!  smile

Hey Graham! What is the link to the song?  Is it this one?  http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.g … 70230.html
I'm not seeing an issue with it on my end.

Mozilla Firefox renders the print using your printer software directly.  So to see a preview and verify everything before printing, you'd need to choose "print preview" somewhere within your print software.  You'll notice your printer dialog box pops up when you try printing.  Is it possible something is checked that shouldn't be here?  However, if you try using Chrome or Microsoft Edge, you should be able to see the print preview right inside the browser itself.  I find the browser rendering seems to look and work better using these browsers, despite the fact that I like to visit Chordie with Mozilla Firefox more.

Let me know what you're using, verify that's the song, and we'll go from there!  smile

Ps can you get Guinness over there?

We can, but I'm sure it's not anything like YOUR REAL Guinness!  smile

Well, I think Saint Patty's Day is just a super commercialized holiday here in the States.  It's all about saying "I'm Irish", wearing green, watching out for leprechaun tricks, 4 leaf clovers, and when possible drinking green beer and eating corned beef and cabbage.  So, it's not really a "celebration" in the sense that it was originally meant to be, you know, as a catholic remembrance of a certain important dude.  I'm pretty curious though, I know many of our friends from Ireland may not even be Catholic... so how do YOU feel about the holiday?  What do YOU do to celebrate, if anything?

Anyhow... since I'm homeschooling my little one, we'll be eating some green scrambled eggs and doing some little crafts today, wear our green, discuss our Irish roots, while learning about the ORIGINS of the holiday, how it changed in the US as Irish Immigrants came over (bacon and taters VS. corned beef and cabbage), how the color green plays a role, and that pinching people who aren't wearing green isn't nice and is just silly.

So... HAPPY St. PATRICK'S DAY to those of you celebrating - however you choose to celebrate and why!  tongue

I'm going to try to keep this primarily female singer-songwriters... but in the event I just have to post something else, this could also include male singer-songwriters (you know, there could be a NEED to add a Midget Song or something about a Dead Skunk).

So, I'll start it off with a Lady!

Ingrid Michaelson - 'The Way I Am" :  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zR7-N_enqvI

Some of you may recall hearing me do this one on Dec. 31st for Bill and Dondra.  I've sung this a bunch of times for MekidsDad as well.  smile  <3  Ms. Michaelson is leaps and bounds more amazing than I could ever hope to be.

I also laughed along with their "Acoustic Punk" Version of the song here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3RPD3zQBRI

And... just for the fact that I adore this one (and have done it as well, again, no where near her vocal ability), "Sort Of" - which GOOGLE featured in one of their ads at one point for Father's Day; you might recognize the tinkle of the piano:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFOSMOL3EDQ

Hmmm, interestingly enough when I searched for his songs I found this page on HIS website: http://www.richardshindell.com/index.ph … p;page=faq
As well, I found this fan page which may or may not have what you're looking for (if you know what album the song is from): http://www.mmreview.com/ronsfolkchords/shindell.htm

Alternately, one of the fine folks here may be able to help you out by taking a listen to the song.  Do you have a link to a youtube recording or something of the like?

Bruski33 and Mike Gray - Sounds like you're both having cookie issues.  Please scroll up a few posts to mine where I explain about clearing cookies.  Or, you can click here and it will take you directly to the post you need to see:  http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic. … 68#p170968

If after doing that you're still having issues, then you'll want to send me some details of what you're working with to give me a better idea of tracking down what the issue may be, this post gives you details on how to send the info I'll need to look at:  http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic. … 15#p170815

I have loved using this site for some time, and want to love the new version but can't seem to get past log in issues.  Seems to be a similar problem as a couple other folks but I didn't see a user directed fix so here goes...

I click on "my songbook" and log in on the link provided.  It appears to log me in, as my user name appears in the upper right corner, but I get the following message...
My Songbook
The songbook is your personal collection of guitar chords and guitar tabs.

After you have added the songs to the songbook, you can edit the songs to correct errors. You can also print the songs as a high quality booklet.

To use the songbook you need to log in. It is free to register.

so I log in again and I'm sent to the forum logged in.  I click the "my songbook" link and the cycle starts all over.

This occurred before and after deleting cookies and ensuring that the correct version of java is installed. I should have three songbooks from the previous version of chordie.  Can you help?  Thanks.

Joe

Sorry!  I'm just seeing this now.  Please view this thread/post if you're still having these issues:  http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic. … 15#p170815

Happy NAD!  Independent controls for each line too.  Nice!  smile  I don't know much about tubes or non-tubes, but if tubes were your plan then sounds like a helluva deal!

You're not alone MKM in the discussion about Tube Amps VS Solid State. I didn't really understand it either, but my ears told me that a tube amp just sounded better. Apparently, there's some solid science as to why, and here's how I understand it.

Sound comes through an amp's circuitry / speakers as a wave. When the maximum power level of the amplifier is approached, it starts to chop the peaks off those waves which comes out as distortion. This effect is commonly called "clipping" by the technical folks. The chart below shows a visual comparison, with the solid state amp on the left, and the tube amp on the right. In a solid state (a.k.a. transistor) amp, the clipping is sudden, so the distortion comes out very harsh sounding. In a tube (a.k.a. valve) amp, the clipping is more rounded, so it sounds more natural and pleasant to the ears.

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/18/4a/33/184a33b432e444e203beb9d325f6b07d.jpg

Even when the amp is not being over-driven, the clean sound coming through a tube amp has what's often described as a "warmer tone", with more dimension and harmonic range that sounds more natural to the ear. The downside is that tube amps are usually a lot more expensive than solid state amps, but a lot less power is needed to achieve a good volume level. A 15-watt tube amp will usually generate as much volume as a 75-watt solid state amp (varies by brand somewhat). Tube amps also tend to have more "personality" by brand or type of tubes being used, with each one having a different voice and characteristics that appeal to different guitarists and styles of music.

That's my "layman's amp primer" MKM, and I hope it's a bit helpful.

This is an AMAZINGLY EASY to understand example! Thank you so much!  I don't feel like such a moron about the differences now.

As light also travels in waves, high levels of white and black in a digital photo is also known as clipping.  So, this description particularly makes a lot of sense to me having been dabbling with photography lately. smile My weirdly wired brain just made a bit of a connection to a few other things as well.  Sometimes in photography we WANT some clipping.  When it comes to the purposely used distortion effects with amplifiers and pedals, I guess it's comparable.  Humph, who'd have thought?  I still prefer the acoustic sound more than any amplified sound possible.  I also generally prefer my photography to be representative of what my eye sees, and not heavily altered... but sometimes my brain jumps in and says... NO!  I did NOT see all those little imperfections with my naked eye, let me just soften this up a bit. wink  Different brands of tubes could be compared to different camera filters.  big_smile

There has been an amazing number of stories about Toots posted to his Facebook page.  There was so much about this man that makes me feel like I missed out on something AMAZING by having not met him in person.  Clearly, he was so very well loved virtually and even more so in his day to day life.

As there are many condolences here for his family and close friends, I've posted a message to them offering our condolences and directing them to view this thread should they wish to.  Thank you Topdown for starting it.

That explains a LOT about my family.  tongue  If I have the story correct, the Irish side of my roots originally immigrated to Canada, then I believe the whole family came to the US and only one returned to Canada.

She was a Nun.

The rest were your typical ideology of the immigrated Irish alcoholics.

Congrats on the camper Ken!  smile And Happy Birthday!

Sounds like it'll make your get-away trips more enjoyable.  Knees and backs get to a certain point where they just want a dang bed.  PLUS, Jen and the pups will be able to come along in comfort!  smile  Very nice!  I looked up the specs on it.  SWEET!  It's not huge, but it's got all the comforts of home packed in.  It looks perfect for two.  I'm guessing you'll be busy traveling all over this summer, but we do hope you'll make it up here for a weekend.  No doubt we'll have another back yard (or side yard) get together.  Katie talks about you often, and hollers at us when we call you "Dirty Ed".  As Jim said, if you make it and want to park here, we'll make sure there's a spot for ya away from the fire... you know, maybe over in front of the pole barn for safety!  ha ha!

Well... what genre would you put Ingrid Michaelson, Jason Maraz, Gotye, and Sara Bareilles?

Quirky singer-songwriter soft indie pop?  LOL!  That seems to be the kind of music I am enjoying the most.  I could do a thread like that I suppose.
