Some of you may remember asking if anyone had hear of Goose Creek Symphony, Well I wanted to give anyone who's interested a chance to hear "Charlie Gearheart" he's the front man for Goose Creek in this song he's the guy in the middle, the other two guys are not in Goose Creek, but I hope you'll enjoy the song, It was first recorded in the 70's by Charlie but it was never released until about a year ago. He was looking through his closet as I understand and found the tapes and decided to re-record them and release them, anyway here it is

I've seen this band and Charlie Geaheart maybe 70 times over the years, always loved them , back into my teens , they're actually doing a few dates now mostly in Kentucky and Virginia and Tennessee. At the myspace songs that I've listed just go to "myspace" click on music then type in Goose creek symphony and 3 of their albums are to the left, click on one and listen, they have many more albums on with the song called "Goin Home" great song, again I hope you enjoy, I love many styles of music but Goos Creek is one of my favorites

Wlbaye,
Thats a great story, It's great to learn from where our Parents and Grandparents came from and what they did, all the stories, knowledge, the things they have seen, done and experianced, in what was certainly a different time than ours, thanks for sharing!

Good for you Bud_wiser
There are always hurdles to cross but don't it feel good when you cross them. Congratulations to you and be sure to give your Lady a big hug and kiss.

Well, I did it again, my Mother in law who is still in pretty good shape right now but has terminal cancer cried today when I did one of her favorite Elvis songs "Can't help fallining in love with you", among many others that I played for her. I actually did better for her than I did my own Mom, not sure why, but it just seemed easier. I want to thank everyone for all the kind words and support from your replys, and all of you should know that you had a hand in this, it was my biggest hurdle I've had to cross so far, so thanks again to you all!
Cam
Well, today I made my Mom cry, I finally got the courage up to play for someone "my Mom" other than of my Wife. She had been after me for months to play her something so today my Wife and I went to her home, she's 82 years old, and I played her several songs, one an old Marty Robbins song that I remembered as a child that she loved called "El Paso" I only went over it s few times this morning before playing it, but, it was my version. I played "Will The Circle Be Unbroken", another one of her favorites, Keith Whitleys "Don't Close your Eyes" and several more songs that I muddled through.
She was so surprised and happy she cried, to be honest when I looked up and saw that I just about started myself. Also to be honest it was as good for me "or better" because I look at it as just another hurdle I crossed in so far as playing in front of someone other than my wife, actually I think I did pretty well if I do say so myself, anyway, just wanted to share that with everyone, and to let you all know how much I appreciate everyones help here on Chordie, thank you so much!
Cam
PS...After just posting this my Wife just informed me tomorrow that I'm playing for her Mom, she has terminal cancer, so I'll certainly play for her, she wants an Elvis song, so I'll be doing it tomorrow again!

Thanks All1song,
I for one will try my best to catch then, I've always been a big Neil Young fan.
Cam
Hi Z,
I can't help with the strumming, but I do love that song, always been a fan of Fogerty, but somehow that song had escaped me, it was the first time I've head it. I'm sure someone will be able to help you on here, just hang in there, it's a great rhythm he has to that song, if you have the strumming pattern for any of it, I'd love knowing myself.
Cam
Thanks for the tip KajiMa, I really struggle with this on most songs, I know moving the capo helps to find your key, but it seems some songs I can play and sing ok, but then another song, in the same key, sounds awful, but, I keep belting it out, I figure it all out one day, I'm determined, thanks again!
Cam
OK let me ask, since this subject has come up in Crevs posting, just how can you tell when you have found your right singing key. Myself still being in the latter stages of being a beginner, I find it very hard to both sing and play most songs at the same time, and not being sure if I'm in key or not, so again, just how can you tell.
Cam
Ok I joined up, but it has me under a different name, so lets add another Ken to our group here at Chordie
Cam
Welcome Ozeman,

Have lots of fun Topdown.

I once read somewhere"can't remember where", but somewhere that Roy Orbison's riff to "pretty woman" was the most recogized riff ever written. I'm sure thats debatable but again, just something I read somewhere at some point.
Cam
Very useful information guys, I appreciate it very much!
Come on and join the group Greg, lots of great people here, with tons of knowledge.
