I have coffee with a little creamer
starts me up to be a dreamer
no time for lunch usually in a rush
maybe an apple if it's lush
Dinner now that's a different story
lots on my menu -go for glory
steaks and chicken so finger lickin'
pasta and salad that's really kickin'
a glass of beer or some Crown that's fine
sometimes it's chard from the vine
nothing fancy, nothing special to see
but it's tasty, and just perfect for me

I like this one a lot!  Can't wait til you can play it for us.
The chorus - so simple - but really powerful - the questions millions ask every night searching for answers.

Well done my friend!

Phill

Nice one !

It's a shame that busy lives make for scarce time together.  But on the other hand - it does make us appreciate it when we do get some time to be together and we stop taking it for granted.

It's got to be a balance - we each have to have and do our own things - but we cant let those outside things become too dominant . and we can t let our two circles become concentric - that would become boring and tedious.
That's the art of living and loving.

I'm sure you can develop this into a song. smile hint, hint,  nudge ,  nudge  smile

Hope you're feeling better these days.

Cheers

Jim

Convenient, but dangerous.  I don't trust'em, but hard to escape them.

It's amazing how much your computer knows about you.

Jeff and Phill

Thanks for your kind words regarding this song.

Using the F was kind of new for me, but I liked it. I also liked using the Bm as well.

It's a little different than my usual GCD repertoire.   smile  sad

Phill
I sure hope it isn't too serious. I wish you full and speedy recovery.  Anytime you get the chance to give it a go would be great.
I would love that.

Thanks again guys

This is a song I written earlier, but made a bunch of changes in the lyrics and chords, as well as the title of the song.
Comments (helpful improvements) appreciated !

Last one by Phill was spectacular...
others were cleverly great !
I'll give it a go, but as you now know
I arrived at this party, fashionably late
(and no where near as good as any of the previous)

There once was a girl from down under
she loved to make love in rain and thunder
in the town it always raised such a stir
because many a married man obliged her
Her cousin of course hailed from Wales
quite the opposite, so proper without fail
but one night in a pub, drank scotch from a tub
and lost her standing among good girls of the club.

singing - or as I call it the bane of my existence is such a gift.  there are many levels of it. Your singing reminds me a bit of the great Tom Waits.

Scott that's a funky looking axe.

If it plays great - that is the whole ball of wax!

Hope you enjoy it - look forward to hearing you or " Sonbeam" rip it with that baby !

A song that  is reflecting my thoughts  as I type. I could've retired five years ago
but I still keep going.  I actually still enjoy teaching and coaching.
But now that my grandchildren are all going to live within a couple of hours of me - it seems more of a reality.
I might call it quits any day.

Thanks for something to think about.

Jeff

It's funny how n' when something strikes you that is inspiring enough to write.

Anytime, anyplace, anywhere.

your last stanza is me exactly in the morning.....  any bit of light and my sleep is done... gotta get up. It's like I might miss something if I stay in bed.

Good stuff Jeff

Congratulations on the Wales tie in the futbol (soccer) EURO

This year should be a fantastic one - France is the favorite - but I have other ideas.

PS. this has nothing to to with music smile

Phill,
gotcha !  I see what you mean.

It's funny though how sometimes ( not very often) it works the other side and it's the guy that gets used and dropped.

Everyone should adhere to the line you mention,  No means NO in every instance.  I have three daughters and I understand.

Good song Beamer - lots to think about.

Jim

p.s.  I think the judges have ruled that technically I did not disagree with you Phill, so it's still a "perfect 10"   record!  smile

That is really thought provoking.

I am going to have to disagree with Phill which I never have but....

I beg to differ on this one... "sex without love is never truly satisfying "
sometimes it was way back when. Not that it made me a better  person - but it sure was satisfying (actually for both of us)

There once was a man from Wales
who played great music without fail
people came from afar
to hear him play that guitar
He sure knows those riffs and scales.

Peatle thanks for the kind words.

Phill- I will never know that feeling - I can only use my imagination and listen to what you and others tell me.
I am sure you have put many hours in to get where you are musically.

Mojo   SRV is one of my faves as well -  Jimi is just - well Jimi !
They are two of the standards by which we measure for sure.

Thanks fellas for taking a look.
I am not sure about the chords or phrasing - but the picture of playing a guitar that great  was in my head and I decided to put on paper.
Cheers to all

I listened to some fantastic guitarists through the weekend and it left me amazed, speechless, jealous and appreciative. So I go t thinking of what it must be like to be so good with a guitar- that it becomes a part of you .  This song is a tribute to all that can make their guitar part of their soul. It must feel awesome.

That Ol’ Guitar By Jim Kenyon

[G]I’ve always wondered what being [C]one with the guitar must be [G]like

[G]spontaneous combustion of the [C]soul, the fingers, and the [G]mind

[C]A sound that comes from ten eras, yet [G]still can bring you home

‘ol Doc [D]Watson would say play it pretty, and[C] touch those strings so [G]kind

.

do you hear your heart while playing, can those strings move your soul

can you play it fast  like a sheriff chasing you down some ol’ country road

will you play it clean and sexy, so that guitar needs a cigarette when done

does it feel like the crossroads, stealing that devil’s fiddle made of gold

.

Chorus

just [C]close your eyes and start swaying as your[G] fingers caress those strings

play a [D] masterpiece so moving, it helps you [C]handle whateverlife may[G]bring

A [C]melody from the soul, with a rhythm that [G]lasts all through thenight

With a [D]sound so sweet, It makes everything in the [C]world seem [G]alright

When you strum can you feel those blues running through your blood

can it help you get through some lonely nights when you’ve strayed too far

do you play it so it makes everyone wonder if they should laugh or cry

it takes you to anyplace you want to go  when you’re one with your guitar

.

  Chorus

just [C]close your eyes and start swaying as your[G] fingers caress those strings

play a [D] masterpiece so moving, it helps you [C]handle whateverlife may[G]bring

A [C]melody from the soul, with a rhythm that [G]lasts all through thenight

With a [D]sound so sweet, It makes everything in the [C]world seem [G]alright
