here's some east texas stuff:

a possum run over your grave= you shuddered suddenly and gave a look of shock/fright

fair to middlin'- means it'll do, good but it aint THAT great. comes from the grades of cotton way back in the day

('im going over there' or 'im gonna do it') d'rectly- means im gonna go do whatever it was i said i was gonna do as soon as i get done visitin' with you

what do you say? (but it sounds more like wadya say ol' boy?)- a lot of old people use this one... its kind of like 'sup

good old boy-  usually means a guy that aint that bad but at the same time he aint that good.... he has a good heart but hes a little well redneckish...  he likes beer and Jesus and hank williams jr. and whoever referred to him as that is probly one of his buddies
EXAMPLE-  "Well, ive known him to have  a beer now and then but he's a good old boy."

tits on a boar hog- worthless, useless, makes no sense. Usually used after "Thats about as good" or "does as much good as" etc. etc. I think this one's pretty easy to figger out, just keep in mind a boar hog refers to a male lol

granhny beads- the drop shaped rings of dirt around your necks and the creases in your arms and legs when you've been working in the dirt

a coon's age- a real long time

"holler" at someone- usually means call em on the phone but sometimes it means pay em a visit

then of course we use stuff like:

crazier than a road lizard

old as methuselah

cold as a witch's tit (in a brass bra as my grandma used to say lol)

instead of thingy or doohicky we say 'deal'
"I broke that deal on there"

anyway theres plenty more but thats all i feel like writng right now.
Some of em i know where they come from and some of em i dont....

yeah i've played around with on electric and found out its pretty cool with heavy distortion (have to change it up a little of course).
Im thinking it needs a solo but im lost on where to start on one. Sometimes I like to start it off with a little rendition of the dixie anthem (kind of the same sound hendrix had when he did the national anthem , nowhere near as good but i mean as far as the reverb and everything) then ease into a heavy G...... Which if anyone wants to try:

l--0----------------------------------0----1------3--3--3---0-----
l---------2---0---0-----0----2----------------------------------

if you've never heard it before watch any dukes of hazard episode and listen for the horn on the general lee (thats the sweet orange dodge charger with the rebel flag on top....) or look up "The battle of new orleans" by johnny horton and listen to the intro

Another quick question: Is it easier to put lyrics to music already written or vice versa?

good question... see i HAD a tune that needed words, and now i have words that need a tune and im stumped on both cuz they don't go together lol
Sometimes i'll pick a neat little tune and i'll play it for months without comin' up with anything. Then some days lyrycs will come to me.... and then in my storehouse of lyrycs and tunes i sometimes find two that match

well I AM a johnny horton fan but srry i can;t really help you...a lot of country riffs are just picking variations with your left hand on the chord so maybe you can figger it out?

Okay so recently i've been expanding my musical tastes a bit, and even though i've always liked john lee hooker and bb king (and a lot of people who've mixed in blues with thier own music) ive never been really educated on blues music. i love the sound but i'm not sure where to start so the question is:

Who are some legendary blues artists i should look into?
like i said i know john lee and bb, and even some fats domino and ray charles and more really soul people.....

yeah old jerry lee lewis was somethin' else. Know a lady who's dad tuned pianos who said jerry played at the bowling alley one time and they called him to try and tune it back when hew was done. Said the piano was ruined... he's literally played it to death lol.
I don't know about being bigger than Elvis cuz sure he had a lot of talent... AND he had that crazy stage presence (and well crazy hair too), but he lacked one thing....
SPARKLY JUMPSUIT lol

good one dude....
My cousin told me one time that sometimes you've just got to take risks in life. Maybe you'll win and maybe you'll lose but someday when your'e old and you're looking back you won't care to remember winning or losing but you will remember having a good time.
  Ashes to ashes
  dust to dust

And then you know i thought it's be cool to have somebody on another electric on some pretty heavy distortion just hammer on the chord at the beginning of each little stanza section thingy......

i think it probly depends on how much you play on it. I just put on some custom acoustic strings on my epiphone a few days ago. I've been playing all day yesterday and the day before and i finally got the sound i was looking for last night.

well see thats kind of the point... music ISN"T about image its about MUSIC. Now don't get me wrong there are some cool videos out there but the ones i like were good songs to begin with. it just pisses me off when i have to watch some stupid talentless funny boy sing every day on my t.v and he keeps going straight to number one when his music sux >:(
Now as for guns n roses i myself am a fan and know that they could have made it without the video definitely... and im not syaing music videos in themselves are bad im just saying they oughtn't to decide who makes it and who doesn't

One time i was visitin' this church in beaumont and i was sitting up in the balcony. So the worship service started up with the mentally slow people from a local nursing home coming and singing a special (and there was this one guy that looked JUST LIKE Jim Carrey and even though i'd never laugh at somebody like that *cough eheh* there was something about that that got me tickled) So as if that wasn't enough the mushy gushy praise chorsu stuff started up next and everybody stood up and this old redneck lookin' guy in front of me starts diggin' at his britches.... don't know if it was the way he was doin' it or the circumastances leading up or what but i lost it right there in the middle of curch. So i try to cover it up by coughing into this hankee and i'll be danged if that old dude's wife didn't look over (and by now i knew i was caught0 but instead of getting mad she bursts into tears runs over all snottin' and everything and startshugging me and praying over me and crap (which only made it worse cuz i just couoldn;t control it with that big snotty fat woman hoverin' over me havin'a little spiritual fit and everything).... apparently she thought i was crying because i was so broken or something. Finally had to run out of the room and into the toilet and just laugh till i had it out of my system....

i probly have a million much more hilarious stories but most of them are even more unrelated to music than this one. but it was the music that brought everything on...
