"The United States Supreme Court in Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, Inc. (1994) stated in no uncertain terms that a parody as a form of criticism or comment could be fair use of a copyrighted work." - See more at: http://corporate.findlaw.com/intellectu … QsY1w.dpuf

There's some 4 factors that are reviewed to determine if it's considered fair use or not.  So, if you're really personally concerned about it, you may want to review the information here.  I like facts - this article seems filled with them.  Of course, they also claim that this is not to be considered legal advice... but then nothing is unless you're shelling out a good $200/hr!

Fizzy lemonade?  um.... or is it a drink that's already mixed that happens to be fizzy?  OR is it Vodka, Lemonade, and seltzer water? Love me some Vodka, but whatever it's with it must have ice.  I think the only thing I drink without ice though is milk, hot cocoa and coffee ... actually... sometimes iced coffee is good too!

this side of the pond we can buy just plain old lemonade in a bottle or on draft, like beer. assuming that you cant your side of the pond it's like 7 up or lilt, which we have to ask for in spain etc, cos they don't do lemonade.

i make that point because i've seen US movies where people sit on the porch drinking home made lemonade from a pitcher! personally, i like bubbles in my lemonade/beer and as cold as ice.:P

I'VE GOT A FEW IN THE FRIDGE, BYE

Ahhhh... I may have gotten Roger hooked on Mountain Dew (citrus flavored carbonated beverage with TONS of caffeine in it... in Central NY we call these carbonated drinks "Soda" aka "soda-pop" - in Western NY they just call it "pop") when he was here.  Yes, 7up... Sprite... etc.  That makes sense.

Yup, when we say lemonade we mean a concoction of fresh squeezed lemon juice, water, and sugar.  smile  ALWAYS made by the pitcher full!

Cigar box, lunch box, and cake pans... who'da thunk it!  I wonder how they sound though!

Well Roger told me he has chuffed one day. Here, I thought it had been a lovely day and was wondering what had upset him. Uh...apparantly being chuffed is a good thing. It sounded downright unpleasant to me.

I had heard from another Englishman (JJ who's rarely around anymore) that it can mean really ticked off OR it can mean really good stuff.

Talking of ice....Ann my better half, drinks vodca and lemonade (the fizzy kind) and will give me hell if I return from the bar with ice in it saying; more ice less vodca, so no ice. Thought you might like to know that?

UJB - Hee hee hee... I worked for Airborne Express too.. in the late 90's early 00's ... but in the Customer Service Department.  It was a game sometimes to track some of the packages.  I especially enjoyed it when one would bust open and end up at the UFO (unidentified freight office - yes, someone that named that location clearly had a good sense of humor).

TF- I've had to track things through Canada Post as well - working in Customer Service for companies I am under contract to not name.  Bad news is when they go from the US to Canada there's often tracking issues.  Good news, it sounds like your guitar is traceable after the exchange!  Hold strong!  It'll make it!  Just keep it away from all UFO's!!!!

Phill - Roger and I had a VERY FUN time talking about these very things when he was here.  The best was something he said about a duck... it would have made little sense here, though sounded like quite an insult... and he meant it in the nicest possible way!  Ha ha ha!  Good times... good times... (meanwhile, he was frustrated with having to ask for no ice in his drinks because here, we ice everything!  Americans are so cold!  hee hee hee)

Never played a resonator... but they were part of my original lure to getting into playing. I'm not good enough, still.  I think if I were though, I'd be glad to be reminiscing with one!  Enjoy your OGD!

i mean this in the nicest possible way; the US and UK are separated by  an ocean, the English language and our sense of humour...i didn't get any of them sorry sad

It's ok Phill.  An English friend made a joke about some ham with beer thing once and I totally didn't get it at all.  I looked pretty silly asking for an explanation (I think).  Then another English friend talked about eating crisp sandwiches and I thought THAT was a joke, but it wasn't at all.  The humor (or humour as you spell it - because clearly we don't always even spell the same English, let alone speak it LOL) on different sides of the pond can often be quite different.  smile

I never cared for the you mama jokes.  Maybe because I'm a mama.  tongue

I'd like to incorporate some train sounds into the song if your Dad can MP3 me some for credit on the tune?

Good idea, but nope.  He doesn't play with the trains any more as he's retired.  I think he does all he can now to stay away from them (and just talk about the good ole days).

It should be easy to get some sounds recorded though if you go visit a railroad yard or popular crossing.  Just remember to steer clear of the tracks, it can take miles for a heavy freight train to stop.  wink

Well Jim... I think you nailed it.  smile

I agree - if they've created something that moves you in some way to think or feel, it's art.  A musician can be an artist... and an artist can be a musician ... they are not automatically and always one in the same, although they often are.  wink

humph... I have a little book here the hubster bought for me that is a songwriters rhyming dictionary of sorts. I think it includes those half rhymes in it.  I say, if it works... it works!  But then, I don't write too many.  LOL!

Aweeeeeeeee!

Nice find Bill.  He seems to have a few fun songs there.  Thanks for sharing with us!!

Hey Bill - this post would probably be better in the songwriting section rather than "about chordie" - perhaps one of the mods of this section will move it there for you.  To help with any confusion as well, it might be best to keep to one thread... then the ideas will all be in one place easier to find (like a file).  Of course, I may just be a little OCD with things like that, so consider it a suggestion - not a moderator order or anything like that.  smile

I don't think of myself as much of a writer or composer, although once in a while I write a song.  I am EXCITED to see how your song comes out though, and keep my eyes posted on the Ciggie train threads!  smile

Happy NGD, Joe!  Obviously you're having fun hunting down these deals and researching the guitars.  If it ain't hurting anybody, then enjoy it!  smile

I looked at units like that, and went with an amp instead.  I still sometimes think I might have liked that instead, except that it's not as easy to move around as an amp.  Let us know how it sounds (when you're allowed to play with it).  Happy Early Birthday!!!

Well, since BILL brought up the idea of cookies recently - and it should be cool here in October, I may just make some to bring along!  wink  I'm not sure what else yet, but there'll be some goodies for sure.

Zurf... we DO enjoy sampling!  Are there any Bully Hill wines you've been dying to try and haven't gotten your hands on yet?  Being in NY and all... we do have a few places that carry almost all of their line, and in BIG BOXES too (who said boxed wine was junk? no one that ever drank Bully Hill from a box, that's who!)

Paul-  Having tooth pain is one of those things that makes you go crazy!  I sure hope they can get it figured out for you soon, and relieve the pain.  Good to hear about prices though!!!!

WELL - congrats on getting rid of the kid... kidding, I can't imagine watching one of mine get married, I'll cry like a little baby myself!  I do hope they have a very happy life together!  Send me a pic and I'll throw it up here for you if you wish.  I'm glad it was a great time!!

Fall is coming... and the oven will be roaring again soon... the cookies will be baking... the question really is, can I get some packaged and to the post office before they're all eaten?

--- sorry for the theadjack HomeSweet!  ---

I was told I sometimes sound like Jewel.  I think she's pretty amazing, so I take it as a compliment.  What's funny is I listened to an interview once, and she thought she sounded like "a frog".  Ha ha!  I never thought that about myself! Glad I don't sound too much like her, I guess.  ha ha

Sometimes I think a thimble would be a good choice when changing strings.  I generally stab myself in the finger after I cut the ends off and stupidly try to tuck them under.  wink
