I think some of the psychological effect is also to do with the fact that previously we had "groups", now we have "artists" ... in the days of yore you'd look at a (generic) group and have a favourite (maybe two), the couple that were OK, and the one that was part of the group that was your least favourite, but he was still part of the group, and occasionally did something that amazed you.
These days the "group" concept is gone - musicians are just hired hands for the (usually) vocalist/artist, who is the center point - the musicians can/do change, so you only have one focal point, which you either like, or don't like - or some shade of grey in between.
another point is that, when you bought LP's/Casettes ( and up to a point CD's) - you put an investment of time into them; looking at covers, reading the inner linier notes etc, as you listened to the music, you'd made an investment of time and money. These days it's easy to point your browser at TPB and download 10Gb worth of an artists life works in a torrent and listen to it on your headphones throughout your day while working ... so the investment of dollars is now low, as well as the investment of time.
I do not condone piracy in any way, shape or form.
Congrats on the bargain!!
If I were to get acoustic effects, I'd probably go with an AIO - the Boss one seems pretty good; or get a decent DI (Fishman/LR Baggs) and pump it through FOH ...
We've been listening to some old/new Australian favourites - "Aussie Jingle Bells", "Six White Boomers", "Santa's got a new truck" ... the kids found a huge load of them
Thanks for the comments - this is "Killing me softly": https://youtu.be/535zyX_Ok38
Tenement Funster wrote:So much appreciated, Peatle! Thanks, and Merry Christmas to yourself also. I'm sure I speak for the rest of the Chordie Universe, that we have all appreciated your music, your poetry, your humor, and the in-depth background you often provide us with about so much of the world's great music. You're truly deserving of "The Loremaster" title, and we're fortunate to have you among us.
Here Here,
Peatles a great bloke.
I'd second that!!!!
This is "I'm on fire", not a big Springsteen fan, but I like this song: https://youtu.be/NjH127hgrTI
I'll go in ...
Richard you did an excellent cover.
Thanks for the feedback ....
Nicely done Richard!
Thanks
neo excellent both songs ............ another talented song writer it seems here on Chordie
That's superb work, Neo, both of them. Someone else here said that suffering often produces some of the greatest lyrics / music, and music is a great way to let it all out. Appreciate your work, and sympathize for what you must've gone through to produce it.
Thanks for the compliments ...

Another song I missed out on doing, "I can see clearly now": https://youtu.be/lOvaENVfp74
Enjoy
Richard
I like your song, I think I heard it before - best wishes to you and yours too ...

I wanted to do this in a previous FSOTM, so, in a way, it's a reflection of the year, "Sunny": https://youtu.be/Jo2rpwMx6IQ

Part 2:
Richard - very nice cover - well done.
Jim
Thanks!!
Here is my attempt at covering Summertime ...... nearly at the end of the month already .....where does time go?!
Excellent work ... this month has flown by, next month will be twice as fast; then it's 2020!!! ![]()
Richard ...
Thanks for the tribute to Joni Mitchell, Neo ... one of my all-time favorite songstresses, who just turned 75 recently. Well done!
Thanks ... I heard she had a birthday ...
Richard
silly me! i thought it was called " clouds?" silly me. very nice rendition. well done.
nicely done neo
Thanks!!
Now, Neophyte, going back to our discussion about SongBook.....yes it does link to Dropbox but again, I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to that stuff. I can usually bumble around and do what I want but it usually takes four coffees and lots of swearing.
Heh - I know what you mean - trying to set up my bluetooth pedal had the same effect ....
On a different matter, I notice that Neophyte is in Perth but is that Perth, Western Australia?
That's the one!! Good to have another Aussie onboard!! ![]()
I live in Wodonga which is on the border between New South Wales and Victoria
I think we went there one time when we visited the Mountain ... I was about 10 and Dad got lost ... in the days when crossing the Nullabor required a 4WD ...

Cheers
Richard
I dared ... did you have the chords to it?
Welcome aboard, look forward to hearing some of your material ...
Cheers

I'm with you on the collection of paper versions......I'm over it! My friend and I rehearse on Tuesday nights but only play for friends and the occasional 'open mic'. But having the tablet means no more paper, no more light problems at night, no my breeze problems etc etc. I still have an old briefcase full of books and sheets but I'll slowly put the ones I want into SongBook and then shred the rest. By the way, SongBook also has a hand internet search link. I like Chordie because it allows me to import directly to SongBook with the chord notations in place. Easy peasy.
Sounds good - can you synchronise with DropBox or iCloud?
I think OnSong has a search facility, but I've tended to download a copy, fix any issues then pop the song into my DropBox account (using an "artist_songtitle.crd" style of naming convention) and synchronise it from there, as I also use "SongSheet Generator" on my Mac (and/or PC) which allows me to make PDF's for the older folk, as they haven't got the app ... (although I'm slowly talking them around to it) ...
