http://www.911tabs.com/link/?4350752 That should help you out.... -Pix
^ I moved it Pix - It was in Chat.
Cool, It had me confundled
Man you work fast ![]()
I would have thought this was the proper place for it "A place to find other musicians from your local area that are interested in forming a band." He doesn't specify "Band" but he's trying to get a few people together to play which very well could end up as a band...
Or has someone already moved it here? ![]()
Hey Zurf, I'm sure that if you want to get the e string to ring clearly you will in time... I remember several months back you said the Evil B chord itself was impossible to get, except for the mutants of course
Now here you are a mutant yourself
It may seem out of reach at the moment but anything is possible with practice (IMO) once you build up the strength in your barring hand you'll be freeier to move the fingers around a little and get it if you want it....
Lots of great songs with G D Em & C chords... I've been playing G Em C D a lot lately... "Stand By Me"
Jonathan Richmans "Egyptian Reggae" is now added above... I added a link to the tab also. This is an oldie but goody ![]()
Cupid by Jack Johnson link has also been added above...
Not really a secret trick or tip but the main thing that helps me progress is passion. I never have to make myself pick up the guitar and practice. I do it because I love it and I do it A LOT. Since I've started playing it's been my life! Really! The song's I'm working on are recorded to a cd and I listen to them over and over everyday at work going through the progressions in my head. When I sit at a desk, hold a tool, or whatever I'm doing... I'm holding it with my index and barre finger flexing it to build up stregnth. You can work practice into so many everyday activities if you try. Muscle memory is important in progressing but there is more to it than just practicing on the guitar. Keep it on the brain throughout the day so that when you finally get your hands on the guitar you don't have to think about what your supposed to do or play next. It's amazing what the mind can accomplish without even touching the guit!! .-Pix
Better Together by Jack Johnson has been added to the above list... Trying to keep it going this morning
3-4 more jack vids to do today and some other artist as well.. some marley, adam sandler, etc...
Hey Pix and Wlbaye!
Good job, both! If this thread doesn't end up with 1000 hits minimum, then there is no justice or there aren't that many people who really want to learn and play WELL!
(and you guys play better than well!)
Good on yer both!
Wow thanks Kajima! I'd agree that Wayne playes better than well!
Myself...?? I've only been playing for about 2 1/2 years so I've still got a long way to go
I feel okay about my progress thus far though... Thanks for the kind words! -Pix
Very nice Wayne! Well played
It's really a beautiful song slowed down like that (IMO) and the guitar sounded wonderfull! I liked your voice with it to ![]()
Thanks Wayne. The voice is kinda rough now
I've got a heck of a cold.
Look forward to seeing the wonderwall vid! I prefer to play it fingerstyle myself now. Though I keep the tempo that oasis used were Ryans is a bit slower. Kind of a mix between the two...
Well they're nothing fancy but I'm posting between 10-15 song tutorials today so I figured I'd share them... I've had quite a few song lesson requests from youtube over the past couple of months and figured today would be good for catching up. I'm doing them fast and very casual, so don't expect too much
I'm uploading via quick capture on youtube so video quality is only so so and any mistakes that are made stay with the videos
Anyway maybe a few fellow chordians will find something remotely helpfull in them ![]()
"Dela" by The Beautiful Girls http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.g … 55114.html
Dock of the Bay by Ottis Redding http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vmi7yzqV1Uo
No Woman No Cry Fugees version This is the main riff used throughout the song... It's great practice for walking in and out of chords and I use it as a warm up riff to get the fingers loose
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ7SiOl5QBw
Cookie Jar by Jack Johnson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N3KJcRGMVE
"The General" by Dispatch. It's a little more advanced than the others but a lot of fun to play. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qpWMIalsuA
La Mar (The Ocean Song) by The Beautiful Girls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nQantjfSWY I usually play this tuned down a half step like they do but I didn't feel like retuning the guit so here it is in standard tuning with the chords adjusted. Great song and easy to sing. People usually find this impressive but it's really a very easy song to play ![]()
Upside Down by Jack Johnson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKcvAfjDQ6s I should have practiced this one a little before recording.
It's been awhile since I played it and I almost forgot the last chord of the chorus ![]()
Better Together by Jack Johnson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zb1w6gd2VM0 One or two slight fingerslips first thing this morning but no major mistakes.. Still trying to get loosened up this morning after playing all day yesterday ![]()
Cupid by Jack johnson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og5inQdWnAU
Falling by Iration http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzIICdPHxCw
Egyptian Reggae by Jonathan Richman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUqt9x3pXqk The tab can be found here http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/?url= … ranspose=0 The last portion of this tab is slightly off, it's missing an F note (D string 3rd fret) but if you follow the vid with the tab you shouldn't have any trouble spotting it
Some may not be processed yet so if you try and it's not available just try again in 10-15 minutes....
I'll add links to the others as I get them uploaded.

Welcome to Chordie!
Nice, I've heard good things about Crafter guitars. What model did you go for? Love to hear your opinions when you get her in
Is this your first venture into playing? -Pix
Thanks! I enjoyed that... "TRYING" to pick it up now
Here's a great cover that gives a good look at the chords http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDhVKy_wJag
Very Nice! I like Newton Faulkners take also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_k8_HSA … re=related
Sup!!!
Apparently that is short for whats up which can be real annoying in itself.
What's up with that?
I'm bad for that one
I say "Sup brah?" at least 20 times a day
That's how I answer my phone unless it's business or a gidgit... -Pix
Not for the actual database. However, you can search "public books" by key words like beginner, easy, country, alternative, 60's, 70's, etc... It'd be a great place to look for easy song ideas! Just click on the public books tab above and then look for the search box on the left side of the screen (you'll have to scroll down a little).

You could always get a humidifier to keep in the room with your guitars... Monitor it with a humidity gauge... If you have other acoustics sitting out they may be subseptiple to top cracks even if they aren't solid back and sided. Cracks aren't the only problem caused by dry climates. The top and back can loose their proper shape. Often tops will sink in around the soundhole and at the lower bout...
I'd seriously consider a room humidifier if your humidity stays the way it has the past few days most of the time... You're area is only at 10% humidity currently.
All wood acclimates but that doesn't mean that if you quite humidifing gradually the crack won't come back. The guitar should be kept at 50-60% humidity all the time!! If it dries out the crack will come back because as it dries it shrinks. To Acclimate only means to adjust to a temperature or current enviroment. The humidifier keeps it were it should be and that's why the crack becomes less visable. Remove it gradually and it will come back gradually... I'd suggest getting it repaired/cleated to assure that the crack doesn't get any larger. If you bought it new, contact Martin and they may repair it under warranty. Cracks are a part of owning solid wood guitars. Most will end up with one or two eventually. The good news is that with a repared back crack there will be no loss of tone. If done properly, it will hardly affect value either. -Pix
That's what's up ![]()
It really all depends on the sound you want... A tenor, soprano, or concert size will give you more of the traditional uke sound. However, a baritone uke is a really great crossover instrument! It has the same tuning as the guitar (DGBE) and therefore the same fingerings, so It's easy to pick up and start playing right away! It can also be restrung and tuned to GCEA tuning for the more traditional uke voice... For a first venture I'd probably go with a baritone. That way you know you'll get some use out of it, even if you never get around to learning all the new fingerings.
I have to say ,though, that there is just something about strumming the smaller tenor or soprano ukes... It's impossible not to smile while doing so ![]()
Money- A good beginner uke (depending on style/size) will probably be in the neighborhood of 75-100 bucks.. If you can play them first you can buy cheaper and still come out okay... The problem with cheaper ukes is consistency. There is no truss rod so the neck angle has to be right and set solid for it to last, play well, or sound decent... So buying a $40-50 uke online can be risky... But if you want to do it, check for a return policy just in case.
Brands- Here are a few that I've had good experiences with in that price range. Kala, Lanikai, Oscar Schmidt, and Hilo. Amigo, would be a good brand to look into as well! They are a cheaper company but all I hear are good reviews from the uke forums. They have solid topped models starting at around $60 bucks! I've never tried them but Tops has a Fender that looks cool!
I'd also suggest picking up some quality strings. They make a world of difference on a uke! Aquila's or Worth strings would be a good choice (IMO)....
You won't regret the uke venture
They're a real joy! -Pix
Personally, I'd second the record yourself idea. That's what I do. Once I have it down fairly well I record it via webcam like I'm going to upload to youtube. After about 20-30 takes I have it perfect but usually never upload them... The process really embeds the song in your memory though. Record it, then listen to it, and then record it again until you have it how you want it. After a few hours recording one song I pretty much have it knocked
I've got probably 200 vids saved on my pc that never got uploaded.
Another thing I do is keep a printed out songbook handy. During the day I practice new stuff that has caught my interest but I keep my binder full of songs beside the bed and every night I spend 2-3 hrs playing all the songs that I have learned in the past to keep them fresh. The ones that I'm currently working out are in the front of the book and they get practice every night! Once I know them really well I'll add them to their proper section in the book (it's arranged alphabetically). It takes me 2-3 days to cycle through the book and then I start it all over again working in more new songs. -Pix
