I agree with Amy, that the ad blocking is deleting the frame compressing the page causing the display overlap.

As an "aside", the other day my "IT Guy" was telling me about a different extension that I might check out..... (senior moment) for the life of me I don't recall what it was!  Anyway, it was intended to obscure your ad tracking trends..... not by blocking trackers, but by registering "click through" on EVERY ad on EVERY page you visit EVERY time you visit!  That would really drive the ad revenue up on a site you like to support!

I'll get the scoop and post it somewhere like Chat Corner so members who like can decide if it's viable as a way to help Chordie a few cents at a time.  Ad $$$ do contribute to keeping Chordie free.  Here it is:  https://dhowe.github.io/AdNauseam/

A Firefox extension that runs in concert with adblock (required), version for Chrome "coming soon".

I was fooling around with my settings and discovered something..... If I disable adblock on the page and reload, an ad appears at the top margin of the page, which moves the music down below the "5 songs" frame revealing the chord grids again.  So, what we are seeing is likely related to the page layout and it's relation to the ad blocking extension.

Don't know if that is helpful, but it might just come down to putting up with the ads and seeing the grids, or no ads and obstructed grids.  On my PC, a center mouse click on the ABP icon toggles the two.

All my music has "signature notes"..... they're the ones I screwed up on.  With the amp turned up and lots of distortion, nobody notices though.

This fellow from Poland has some talent! and someone is going to wind up signing a tour contract with him really soon I'm guessing.

Hi Bill,  Sorry we don't have an online tuner available on the site.  There are a few apps available for free out there, but it has been my experience that not all PC microphones "hear" as well as others.  I tried one on my laptop, which has a very good microphone on board, and then checked it with the one built into my A/E guitar and it was close.... but still not good enough.

I suppose it is far easier to NOT have one here online than have to put up with the complaints about how far off it is!  (insert chuckle here)

Thanks for asking though.

Take Care;
Doug

The site recently had some upgrades, and that issue has been reported to admin since it appeared recently.  Per has assured us that he is aware of the problem and will resolve it as time permits (he's on holiday for a week or so and away from his terminal).

Thanks for posting, and thank you for your understanding.

No Bill, I guess i should have phrased it differently.... I'm mostly solo.... play the bass line, and melody and fills (and yeah I'm one of those darn fingerpickers.... think Mark Knoffler style).  When you are sitting in with a say 5 piece band, much of that is done by others, and if you play it "your way" you are stomping all over the other fella's musical phrases.  Usually it sounds terrible, and it's usually something that I have to think about NOT doing.

I think everybody is their own worst critic.  Like BGD usually right after whatever.  My biggest fault is a result of usually playing solo or with one other person either as vocal or accompaniment.  So, when in a group which occasionally happens, I have a hard time not playing all the instrumental.
The nice thing about a group is that if you are well rehearsed, nobody has to work that hard to fill out the sound.  Solo, you are all of it.... and it is difficult to back off and let things happen naturally.

Takes practice and I'm working on it.  Backing tracks are a big aid!  Of course more and more practice too.

Good Morning Amy,  I bumped another thread a couple days ago about that problem because I also noticed it.

Just cropped up after the latest site re-work.

Good Evening ZZ and Welcome to Chordie!

That tune is indexed here on Chordie under the recording artist Jack Jones.  A chord version at least.

If you want a Tab version specifically I would try Ultimateguitar.com   It was a popular tune and was in at least a couple of movies that I recall, and there is likely sheet music scored for piano out there as well.

Hope that helps;
Doug

Yeah Dino.  I'm wondering what demented stretch of the imagination it took to come up with that..... although the News is all over it like a coyote on roadkill.

I like puzzles... so I've been thinking about this a little.  My football says to inflate to 15psig.  I have no idea what the League requires, and if it is etched in stone or is there some leeway, like + or - 2 pounds?  To my mind, you start with a pile of footballs sitting in some nice warm locker-room-like environment.  Somewhere around 70 degrees F, and you got almost 40 new balls to air up.  You have some kind of compressor and you inject air into all those balls checking each to see that the required pressure is in each one, then they are tossed into some big wheeled hamper to get dragged out to the field when the time comes.  So far so good. The bladders stretch out filling all the voids between the leather shell and the rubber, and maybe the leather and lacings stretch a little too.  The pressure drops a little because of it.... then game time, the cart goes out to the field where it is (lets say 25 degrees, like Green Bay) cooler.  The pressure drops relative to the temperature (old Physics here), and if memory serves, you lose around 2 % for every 10 degrees of difference. P2=P1(T2/T1). A 12.5 psi ball at 70F would be roughly 8.9 psi at 50f.

Not a big difference to my mind, but a difference.  Is it enough to point fingers and say "you cheated"?  To me , that's a stretch.  Granted that a softer ball is easier to grip & throw/catch.... if everybody is playing with the same group of balls.... don't both teams get the same and equal advantage?  How does that change the outcome appreciably?

I watched that game and it all came down to yardage and the ability to make downs, and make points.  Bodies, not balls decided that game.....

Howdy again Bill,

That's what this section is for.... sharing your original songs for consideration, advise, collaboration or just getting it published as provenance of copyright.  So, if you wrote it, you can sure post it here!

If it's a tune you'd like a little help with, there is a "sticky" at the top of the Recording section for the Chordie Recording Network (mostly folks who have tossed their names in to assist with adding instruments or vocals to your tune) and there are quite a few folks here in the songwriting section available to "play around" with your tune and perhaps come up with a "new" arrangement from a different viewpoint.

once you post it, you own it and I think everyone respects the concept.

Greetings Chordster, and Welcome to Chordie!

Wow, Charity shops in the UK don't think much of Lindo instruments do they?  Visited their website and they make some nice looking stuff, if the sound is as good you got a deal.  Sadly, not a gig bag outlet listed on their page... hard case, yes, but no sizing information.

If you were on this side of the "pond" I'd try Guitar Center, or Sweetwater, or one of the larger retailers even Amazon.  But you are going to need a physical dimension to find something to fit properly.  Other than that advise, Good Hunting!

Howdy Bill,

So you took it down -5... so if you capo on 5 it will be back to original (using the chords you are looking at), move your capo up or down until you feel comfortable vocally and note the capo location at the top of the page (for you).  It will be whatever key it is, but you'll sound fine I'm sure.

Welcome to Chordie Guitarmaster!

You might also post your query in My Local Band and Me section for better results.  I don't know of anyone in Grants, but I know a Sax player in Artesia, and another Guitarist in Sicorro.  Chordians are everywhere, so you might find one with a little patience.

In the meantime, make yerself to home here at Chordie and Enjoy.

Howdy surferguy and Welcome to Chordie!

I kinda thought someone would step in here and answer your question, but guess not.

I'll take a shot at really confusing you (I still don't know how to add to the chord chart by the way).... First off though let's take a look at diminished chords and maybe give you a hint that will help you get them without having to refer to a chart in the first place.

Because we have a chart for the Ao (the little "o" designating diminished) we'll start with it.

The A Major triad is built from the root 1st (A), 3rd (C#), 5th (E)

The A minor triad is built from the root 1st (A), b3rd (C), 5th (E)

The A diminished triad is built from the root 1st (A), b3rd (C), b5th (Eb)   There is a pattern.  When you see a Major chord that you need to make diminished, play the minor and flat the 5th. That should hold true up the scale.

Diminished 7th chords are much the same,  root 1st. b3rd, b5th, bb7th (double flat 7, which in A is a Gb)

Us old arthritic guys just play the minor or minor7 and mute the rest.

There is some good info down in the theory section that you might find interesting (if not more confusing than me).

I'm bumping this one up because of the original post in the thread.  Top 5 songs covering chord charts.

Have not been visiting the songs pages for a few days now and just today I noticed that issue is back.  Don't know what changed, but we might be hearing about it and thought I'd call attention to it.

Doesn't bother me particularly (I already know most of my chords etc.) but perhaps it bears investigation.

Admin has been tweaking the songs index-zone over the past week.  Verifying links and such, which may be causing conflicts intermittently.  I know there was one evening that I couldn't get through.... so I just dragged out the old binder.

You might see some small changes, on the Home page (facebook link), and a few tunes that had take-down requests have been recended, so are available again.

Patience is a virtue, and Chordie is evolving in little steps.

Thanks

The Pats dominated the whole game, which made for a good watch.

Frankly I thought the Hawks were done early on, as Green Bay brought their "A" game.  As usual the Seahawks made a bunch of stupid fouls which cost yardage and seemed unable to hold their own against the Green Bay rush.  If not for a few outstanding strokes of luck in the way of interceptions and such it could well have ended differently.  I feel sorry for those that switched off early in disgust, as the whole thing turned on the last half of the 4th .

Looking forward to the Feb 1 matchup in Glendale!  Should be another memorable one.

Hi Blaster, Thanks for posting.

We may have covered your issue in an earlier thread, so you might have a look at:  http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=26908

If it's still troubling, you can certainly add to this thread and we will see if anyone has it figured out (or at least an easy way).

Speaking of Cable TV.....  Yeah, they've pretty much tied up broadcast sports haven't they?  Seriously, if the tube is on and I'm sitting in front of it for more than 20 minutes or so.... you can pretty much bet they've got a game or the news on.  So if you gotta watch, you are gonna pay for 117 channels that are never in the queue.  Well there is one exception, PBS, and I can get that with a coathanger and a ball of foil !!
