My mistake, got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning. Partly your fault as the stuff I was drinking last night came from your part of the world.

why should his private life be up for discussion?
It'a a free country that I live in and that includes freedom of speech. People will talk about you, me and everyone else in this world so why not M. Jackson.

I'll buck the trend and say he is a great artiste, singer/songwriter of the first degree.
His personal life..................lost for words.
Why does M. Jackson wear short trousers, cos they're not his!

I love Neil's guitar playing, kinda simple with a lot of walks and hammer ons
Very well put. One of my favourite guitarists but not the most talented. The use of his varied tunings does make for easy playing and dare I suggest cheating a little.
I have three guitars on the wall and one is aways in dropped D for a quick bash at the Neil Young stuff.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Look at the mess the USA and the UK are in at the moment, why?, too many rules, too many people tinkering and too many people pushing forward to a better way of life when in fact they are bringing us all to our knees.
Sorry for the rant but Chordie is and always has been a superb music site and I for one would like it left alone.

Re: Cigarettes and Singing (33 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I did the 'cold turkey' gig the first week in January this year. I can say, with my hand on my heart, in all honesty, no bull, total truth and no lies, I can't play any better and still have a voice that frightens the cats.
20/30 a day for around 40 years. The last 6 months has not been easy, couple of holes in the doors, the wife and parrot have both left home and I have set fire to most things in the house to see what they taste like( hence the parrot leaving).
If you want the Rod Stewart voice try a drink called Knob Creek, the American guys will tell you about it.

Re: Gig advice...!!! (9 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
5 till 9 and maybe midnight is a long gig. I would be looking at 30 on,30 off with a bit of a blast at the end. Push it too far and you will look awful silly when your voice gives way.
Also remember your gear, take as little as poss and have a mate keep an eye on it when you are not around and get it locked up pronto when you have done. Don't take you good stuff with you just to impress other people, a guitar played in the house is safe, a guitar on the road takes a beating.
Good luck and don't get drunk til' the last song.

The wife.
Please remember Charlotte is a bloke, married 35 years to the same women, if you can call her a woman, god damn is she ugly. I only married her cos' her pa had a gun and so did her 6 brothers. Some people say you should try to see the goodness in other people, well I've tried, god damn have I tried but you can't get over the fact that she is a dumbass ugly bint.
Suicide has always been an option but could I hell as talk her in to it, I tried, god damn did I try.
I take her away on a regular basis but she always finds her way back. People say if you give a person enough rope they will hang themselves, well you can't move in my house for rope but none of it seems to work.
Phil, you did ask ![]()

Just to let you know I have read all these posts 10 times. Better advice you could not buy. The time and trouble you have all taken is superb.
Guitar shopping starts this weekend and armed with all this info plus what you all say 'try em out' I'm off to the shops.
I'm not one to buy the first thing I see so it could be a while before I bring one home.
A very big thanks to you all.

Re: Gibson Les Paul. (22 replies, posted in Electric)
That's what you call advice, many, many thanks. It has given me alot to think about.
You have set me thinking by asking what am I going to play on it, it sounds silly but I had not thought of that. To attempt the answer I would say the usual popular rock for a few months and then get down to some good ol' blues which I suppose my heart is.
Do the words..crisp..clear..quality and maybe mellow help at all. Heavy rock, apart from one or two classics is not my scene, blues, country rock, bluegrass is nearer to the mark.
The advice of get down to the shops and try them out has got to be correct instead of just ordering something that I think should be good and suitable.
Once again, many thanks.
Rob.

Re: Gibson Les Paul. (22 replies, posted in Electric)
Hi Charlotte is there any particular reason you want a Les Paul? Do you like the sound, the look, the history?
No particular reason, maybe the look.
In the local shops they tend to have just one or two models rather than a good range. The internet seems to be the best option and the best prices.
I should explain I know sod all about electrics and it is for use in my front room only but I do like to buy the best I can afford.

Topic: Gibson Les Paul. (22 replies, posted in Electric)
I've got the buy another guitar bug again. I've got 3 acoustic and a banjo. For some strange reason I have decided if I buy an electric it will be a Les Paul.
I have to admit to not knowing alot about the different models and would like a bit of advice or some views on the Les Paul range. It would be a new one, not second hand, and a maximum of around £3000 ($6000).
Any help out there?

Yep, just watched it again for the xxxxxth time, a true classic. Try youtube for How Long, an old song but on the new album.
Note the use of Takamine guitars at the country music awards.

Get well soon Old Doll. Try a drop of Jim Beam Black, it's a sure cure for any bug.
If you want a new project for the new year try a bit of song writing for the Eagles. I got the new album( also a Xmas present ) and it leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. I'll go as far as to say they should be ashamed of this album.
Flat shoes and tights today as it is a little chilly.

Spot on. When the site was changed nearly 2 years ago I typed in my password instead of my user name and have been known as Charlotte ever since. I don't mind really, you get used to the bra and pants but it's the high heels I have a hard time with.
Looks good on the building site.
