Hey Pix,

How do I post some pics.Remember I am old and slow and It took me a year to figure out how to post some vids on youtube.
I would love to play your yairi's,I think my yairi is one of the finest guitars as far as detail and quality of workmanship. The small body won't stand up to jumbos and dreads but what a nice guitar plugged. Are the necks on your yairi's fast and smooth?

Hey Wayne, This should help with posting pics. http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=11322

Yea, the the necks are very nice on the Yairi's! To me they have the absolute best playing neck of any acoustics I've had my hands on. It's amazing how consistent they are considering each one if shaped by hand http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j3__CnZAQM There's a few more good tour vids on youtube if you want to check them out as well. I also have a DY74 but I keep it at a friends house where we practise a lot and don't have pics uploaded of it... -Pix

Very nice Det! Love the look of that pickguard smile

Let's see some guitar pics! Fronts, backs, inlay work, cool rosettes... What ever you have and want to share!

I had a pretty extensive collection about a year ago but have sold off the ones that didn't get played enough to justify keeping.
Here's what I've currently got (nothing fancy but all are real players...IMO)

Hey Doc, Some mighty fine guits smile  What is the one in the left corner of the second picture with the wee little headstock?

I've often heard them refered to as the next Beatles but i'm not sure if it's self proclaimed...

I will say that Oasis has a very strong following, and (IMO) they are a great band! Morning Glory has to be one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time. My favorite song by them being "Dont Look Back in Anger" among others...

They did split a few years ago but have since reformed and have recently released a new album. I hate the bands "superior" attitude but do appreciate their music. The next Beatles....hmmmm..  IDKAT  -Pix

Lol, well the song is really "bubbly" by colbie caillat, don't know why I mispelled that tongue

Lol, I did the same thing... I knew the song you meant and still misspelled it. It's a really great song!
I've tried to get my wife to sing it but she's uncooperative so I never learned to play it... She's got the voice but not the confidence...

Actually Tops, I'll be really close to you on the last couple days of your vacation. A few friends and I take an annual fishing trip to Chocowinity on the Pamlico river at that time. A little place called Blunts Creek fish Camp. I've been working on the boat this past week in prep for it. Don't know if I can get by or not though... I could possibly take the boat across the sound...maybe, for a short visit. It's only about a 3-4 hr. boat ride from were we camp to Hatteras if I rock it. Have to see how things work out... We'll be there from the 17th to the 21st. Glad you enjoyed the tunes! -Pix

tandm3 - hate to hear hear this. That's gotta hurt. You may get some responses here, but I recommend you post your question with pictures on the Acoustic Guitar Forum. That forum has a bunch of luthiers that regularly offer advice and are extremely helpful.

And here's another link you may find helpful. Good Luck!

Sorry to hear it man! I can imagine that sickening feeling when you saw it... I've repaired 2 guitar headstocks and one banjo with a snapped neck. All turned out well and hardly descernable. The banjo is almost done, just needs one more coat of sealer, a final sand and then refinish. If I can be of any help let me know. You got some pics you can post? -Pix

Sorry man... Searched but couldn't find any chords. Found out it was a collaboration between Wilson and Orbison, So looks like they both had a hand in it.

Poetry?? I wouldn't say so.. I'd say some were poetic though. IMO When It's put to music it's lyrics not poetry. He's a great songwriter for sure, but I could never get past his voice. It's slightly annoying to me.

Hope all is well with you Doc! -Pix

Not bad... Wasn't his son originally going to play bass?? Seems like I remember reading that in one of my older guitar mags... Maybe that was another project he was working on several months back...

I believe you're thinking of Wolfgang (Eddie's son) playing bass for the reconfigured Van Halen.

Yep! That made it click! Thanks for keeping me straight smile

I don't know about "cheesy" wink but here's a few that I always enjoy playing when watching mother ocean...

"Badfish" by Sublime http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veOvUPNS … re=related
"Let it be Sung" by Matt Costa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF5Av3MbcwY
"Santa Monica" Everclear  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryYVzcLoe6A
"Island in the Sun" Weezer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hyoszso38E
"Summertime" Mungo Jerry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbdyrRlYR2E
"Coconut" Harry Nilsson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tbgv8PkO9eo I have a tutorial for this posted on youtube as a response, if it helps. Really easy and everyone knows it.
"Dune Buggy" by The Presidents http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_UHTCjT … annel_page This can be tricky to play but you can break it down and it's the lyrics that everyone loves smile Especially the kids!
"Girl I wanna Lay You Down" by ALO featuring Jack http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=df_6Pu-oLgA When I first heard this song there wasn't a vid for it on youtube so my wife made this one for me...

I'll stop there...Unless you want more wink
You've already got Marley down so I didn't list any of his... But any songs you usually play would work for the beach. Especially if you carry the uke smile I've found that If you transcribe to G most songs cross over very well to the uke... G just seems to fit it better IMO

Looks like a nice place man! Hope you have a great time!! -Pix

I love Jeffrey Gaines take of "In Your Eyes" that was originally done by Peter Gabriel.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7WtavVdBCk
Not that I'd say that it's that much better just real nice...IMO

So, I'm teaching my nephew to play and last week I explain triads and chord structure, etc... For homework he was to work on building different triads...

Earlier today he comes over for this weeks lesson and I ask him if he's been practicing his dreaded B chord. He says yea and I ask him to play me a song of his choosing with it, just so I can see how he's doing with it. He's got it okay... After the song and a few pointers he asks if he can just play it fretted this way 221xxx. I break it down and sure enough it contains the root, 3rd, and 5th of the B scale (B, Gb, Eb) but I've never seen it played like this?? I tell him to just work on the barre B for now and I'll think on his question. So is this right?? I realize he won't get the full sound from it and it may not fit most songs, but can a B be played fretted 221xxx? I'm not that big of a theory buff and wanted to make sure I tell him correctly... It seems so to me, though it's not really a fingering I would recommend for common use.... Opinions??

My last five songs are:

Guitar- (these ones are fingerpickin')
"Handlebars" - Flobots
"We're Going to Be Friends" - Jack Johnson

Ukulele-
"Three Little Birds" - Bob Marley
"Bubble"- Cailat
"Stairway to Heaven" - Led Zeppelin (fingerpickin')

Lol, I thought it would be fun to try to figure out the finger picking for Stairway to Heaven on the ukulele and so far it's going pretty well. But if anyone knows of a uke site that has the tabs (yea right:P), please pass it along. smile

Nice to meet you! Welcome aboard! It seems we have similiar taste smile I was playing 3 little birds on my tenor just last night. I play your other songs as well (except for "Bubble")

Here's the stairway to heaven tab that I used for low G tenor uke http://home.arcor.de/crazydawg/ukulele/ … heaven.txt   -Pix
