BTW: I wrote an on-line chord generator which is here:
http://neophytte.mine.nu/chord/
It generates pictures which can be posted in MS Word for a lot of different chord shapes, and you can change the number of strings and the tunings etc ...

Kevin and I used to work at the same place a few years ago - he organised a few other musicians who worked there for a jam night, someone told him I play guitar and I came along for a few jams ... we've played together a couple of other times, but not frequently ... this was the first and only take of the song

Heh - yea, first time I've had to take a bridge out to change the strings (but it ends up you don't have to take it out, however it was good to get the dust out!!). I still haven't found how to properly intonate the thing ...

No problems - thanks for the book; you have a lot of songs that I know and will be adding to my songlist

It's not a good one.only the ends of stuff can be edited. No clipping the middle.
No worries - I've never used it, just saw it there one time ....
This one is a free open source editor: https://www.openshot.org/
Haven't tried it, but it looks very "iMovie"-ish ...

I once kept a notepad by my bed so if I woke up and the dream of the song was still intact, I'd quickly makes some notes, turn over and go back to sleep - hoping to get back into the dream if it was a good one, dreading getting back into it if it was a bad one.
Next morning, I'd wake up - remembering that I had written this down, open the notepad, look at it and say to myself, "What in the _____ is this_____????"
Only partially kidding. That would happen sometimes. Most of the other times I could get a verse or two written. I've only ever completed maybe two songs from dreams.
Man in the Glass cage was written entirely from a dream/nightmare ...
Getting the Kahler Spyder system out (and back in) was a bit of an experience .... !!!

Words can never be enough. Condolences.
I read somewhere that when you are doing menial tasks - showering, driving, getting ready for work etc where your concious mind is just 'going through the motions', this is the time your subconcious will start to write a song.
For me it has been the items above, plus dreams, especially when I'm down with a cold and my mind is hyper-active, but my body is suffering - they're usually fairly lucid dreams too, I try and capture them on paper, but a day or two later the words can be lost ...

Strummerboy Bill wrote:Just ordered a scissors boom arm and pop filter, after watching a YT video on set-up. If I'm going to record some stuff to post on SoundCloud, might as well do it right, right? Cost for both, just over $20.00 USD on eBay with free shipping. Yeah, I know I could have used a pair of Dondra's panty hose, but I think the filter would work better. Besides, I'd like it to look as professional as possible and those two legs of the hose drooping down either side of the mic wouldn't do much for the aesthetics.

Good on ya BGD!!!!
We'll be seeing you on the FSOTM forums shortly??? (Next month is individual challenges, so indicate if you'd like to take part ... )

Baldguitardude wrote:You plan on doing a lot of whammy dives with that locking nut?
Nope, I'm not really a whammy bar guy; and I think it's locked with a tremelo-no or something ...
Strummerboy Bill wrote:Nice, Richard. You chose a pretty color. I wish you much fun playing your Strat!
Thanks - I like blue; it goes with my PRS (also the sme year):

Tenement Funster wrote:Nice rig, NEO ... I love that it's got a Floyd Rose, and not the usual stock Fender tremolo ... much more stable. How's it sound?
It's actually a Kahler tremelo system, for a rare period between 1988 and 1989 they were fitted as stock in a few guitars which were made in America, but assembled in Japan, or something like that - stories vary on the web, there is a similar (sold item) on Reverb here. To quote from that advert:
Made in Japan (MIJ) Standard Stratocaster -
During their transition into a new facility beginning in 1984, Fender went through a period of relatively low domestic output when they were subsequently forced to rely more heavily on Japanese imports to meet demand. As evidenced by the rise in popularity of Japanese brands during the 70’s and 80’s, the FujiGen Gakki-made Fenders were exceptionally well-made. At least one account states that when the first shipments of these guitars arrived at Fender, some builders actually cried when confronted with a Japanese standard of quality that had yet to be achieved in American production. Regardless of the veracity of such a story, the quality of this guitar’s construction and performance is self-evident, as it could certainly hold its own against any Strat made today.
While the addition of the Kahler Spyder undoubtedly adds a bit of weight (and complexity!) to this guitar, it is still a manageable 8.2 lbs and physically well-balanced. Though the guitar is used, (snip...)
Obviously the Kahler floating tremolo system is one of this guitar’s more distinctive features. Though perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea, the Kahler tremolo makes this Strat a great value for anyone in need of a dive-bombing shredder guitar (or simply a more stable instrument). While not pictured, please note that the appropriate tremolo arm is included! On a final note, all proceeds of this sale will go towards the purchase of student model guitars for charity. Thanks for looking!

the song is` reconsider`by Charlie Robison it`s not a difficult song.
BUT i would like to hear YOUR version not just a rerecording of the original.
Maybe look up the lyric/chords & do it without listening to the original.
are you up for it?
The chord chart is here for anyone else considering this challenge:
... but where is the second challenge??
I'm throwing these two out there, cause they are what I'm working on at the moment, for anyone that wants to try them:
Crazy, by Patsy Cline
You and me, by Alice Cooper
Two different ends of the spectrum, but both by artists whose last name begins with 'C'
