About the MARTIN BACKPACKER: TRUNAUGH WRITES
a "back packer" by Martin (which I always associated with quality) but the little thing just sounds like junk.
I have a backpacker since years, and I can't remind me that at that time a "baby guitar" was the talk of the town.
In fact, I never considered and will consider the Martin's backpacker as a guitar. It doesn't SOUND at all as a normal guitar should sound. The sound is very "strange", I love that backpacker, use it with an amp, and you get a special sound, mandolin/banjo/guitar mix.
I consider this as a nice instrument but not as a guitar. THE (VERY) NEGATIVE POINT + try to play it SITTING.
Today there are more choices, you have "small" baby guitars, "regular" baby guitars and "big" baby guitars, like Taylor, washburn
Excel 1/2 Size Acoustic Guitar, for kids, this phrase tells us enough: FOR KIDS. I think the best choices are the "regular" baby acoustic guitars. You can use them everywhere and the sound of some of them are great.

Re: TROUBLE WITH BOSS BR 600 (14 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
evsynator, thanks a lot I do know that a lot of persons suffer. You know the WORST problem I ever had was a SERIOUS DEPRESSION. If I had the choice between then and now, I should take NOW. Sometimes I write about these situation. Don't get this wrong, it's probably because I was so active, I worked 75-80 hours a week, on one hand building my practice sky-high, on the other hand, destroying my family life. Divorce, lots of women, starting at 07.30 to come back at 22.30-23.00.
I even didn't eat, except for the "almost" night. It is very difficult, and I saw people, having problems, almost not to imagine. What I try is by writing this:
1) a relieve.
2) hoping that I can help people by writing it.
I have a "manuscript" stored in my PC, titled "the EXPRESSION of the IMPRESSION of a DEPRESSION." 120 pages in A4 format. Because someone who's suffering from a severe depression, will NOT READ IT, so I have an 8 pages A4 manuscript very easy to read, and the intention was to add it inside that book. I must tell, there were different publishers, wo were very interested. PROBLEM = I am not allowed to earn a lousy € or $, because I can loose all my insurances. But it's to important in fact and disgusting that it's still on my PC. I am busy to make a deal with one of these companies.
But as you say, music is a beautiful thing, an universal language, and I have a song, but connecting my BOSS with an USB cable, I can't transfer it. Probably a friend can.
Big BRO, thanks for the .bro indforùation.
FINALLY, WHAT IS THE EASIEST TO USE? A BOSS BR 900? They have a CD burner on board, I suppose you can burn your CD, rip it with Windows Media Player? Sooner or later...
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH

Re: TROUBLE WITH BOSS BR 600 (14 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
ONE problem solved = drums. (by pushing "arrange"), I am able now to play AND there are drums too now.
Sometimes (really not much) my rhythm isn't 100% perfect. I recorded 15 times, I can't continue because I exaggerated so long, by sitting in the same chair, that I can't stand up.
THAT, THESE PAINS & PROBLEMS makes me so melancholic, WHY did I deserve this destiny.
Next week, they come to my place for a wheelchair, funny isn't it.
I really hope that NOBODY gets what I have.
If I can transfer this song to my PC, using an USB connection, I am really looking forward.
The song is "technical" 80% correct, I don't care, I try to load it on myspace.

I think where it goes wrong.
You have to TRANSFER your music to your PC and not the CF card.

Thank you all for helping, I have 2 different "paths"
- Compact Flash and put it in my pc
- Try with USB port
Audacity, I have.
Since I'm not in the mood to read it all again, I take that p i t a**device to the biggest store of Belgium (we have to go to a reception, from our beloved king's bastard child). Imagine my mum & me, and she said yes in a split second when I told that we went to that musicstore. I will take my boss with me, and what I really need is a device who record a CD to.
I have time, time & time

Q: WHO?
A: Yes WHO.
And so you can go on.
You can make a real funny topic, using this. Like the band "YES".

Topic: DOES IT STILL EXISTS? (5 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Does it still exists, putting a group of songwriters together, and writing from 9-5, the time they check out, and giving the results to the CEO. A so called "TOP HIT MACHINES".
For the record, I don't think this is a bad idea because, putting 20 song writers together:
- Some write lyrics.
- Some write tunes
- They can compare and changing ideas, improving songs together
BUT
- I am afraid it won't last long, before they start to be jealous, and it becomes a competion.
- Some others start singing and performing an own written song, useless for some artists.
Imagine CELINE DION singing heavy metal.

I have some spare strings, but sometimes my little E snaps, and I used a B-string.
I did this twice, and the sound? not so different.
But "watery"? Never heard this term.
I need to change strings really soon, on some guitars, I get a METALLIC sound, touching or playing on a string.

Re: TROUBLE WITH BOSS BR 600 (14 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Dear Russell, and Upyerkilt
Thanks a lot. I'm not so good, feeling bad since a while. COLD, followed by a hot feeling = fever, if I put a 25W lamp in my a**, that lamp will explode, my head is not clear, I am so tired, it's hard to come back from the hospital, and since 31/03, some days are good, but most are bad. This is the reason why I think that I AM PLAYING THE BIGGEST PART HERE.
- I can do great things using my PC, like finding 'hard to find" songs.
- The technical part, that's the biggest problem. There are 2 "outputs" (green + red) where my "skype" headset is connected.
- Due to physical severe problems, I have to wait for someone to help me.
Agree, IF I SELL MY BOSS BR 600, and I buy another "device" giving me the answer on all the problems, because you van burn a CD or in MP3 or in WAV.
Do I throw away $$$, probably.
ALL I WANT is in MY CONDITION (even a wheelchair isn't far away, they come next thursday for a wheel chair, yep, it is really hard for me now, again a new "turning" point in my life. WHERE WILL ALL THESE PROBLEMS END? (no WHEN), what's next. Only a few things are really bnice:
- The friendship her on chordie is priceless.
- Also financial: I paid a fortune to have a decent income when retiring, include a "guaranteed income" every month. Imagine, 90% of the MD'S have a small insurance, when they have to stop (accident, disease, cancer) and you have 3 kids, if I think about that, oh Lord.
There are other "recording devices"using the same effects, BUT with a CD-BURNER in it. This will allow me to put songs on a CD-R, or a CD-RW, without PC. I can hear very well the song(s) I recorded. FOR ME, THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEST: selling mine, and buying another.

Re: TROUBLE WITH BOSS BR 600 (14 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Russ, this BOSS BR 600, hasn't a CD recorder, tere is indeed a kind of output red & white color, but how to connect it?
If I play and record a song, it is recorded on a COMPACT FLASH CARD, and there is something I don't understand. But Saturday, I go to a music store, and I will ask for info.
I'm also capable to buy something else. My character is to impatient.
I want a recording device, putting all info straight on a CF card or even a "rewritable CD".
Maybe I sell this one, and I will look for something less difficult. It's also very difficult to sit and record due to my disability. I can't sit longer than a few minutes in a certain position.
Thanks RUSS

Topic: TROUBLE WITH BOSS BR 600 (14 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Finally, I recorded an instrumental, a kind of "bluesy" song.
TOOLS TO RECORD:
- PRS CUSTOM 24
- BOSS BR 600
- COMPACT FLASH CARD 1 Gb.
I used my CF card to insert in my PC, and yes, I had a nice map with 4 items. The song I recorded, are on my PC, but I can't open them. When I open the map I see 4 other maps:
1) SMF
2) TONELOAD
3) USB
Those 3 maps are EMPTY, and the fourth is:
- BRO = there are songs, and clicking on that map I get a list of 48 items. Every item is called
- SONG0000.BRO, followed by SONG0001.BRO, and it ends with SONG0048.BRO
Can somebody tell me what this means, it's impossible to play songs. I was so happy, it took me 2 hours to record, starting with a lot of trouble, like wrong "strum", playing a wrong string and the worst problem = keeping my rhythm + very good to hear, a "rigidity", not a fluent use of my right hand to play. I tried 26 times before I got a decent result.
I have a USB cable too, but shouldn't it be enough to do what I did, putting my CF card in my PC, and copying the CF content to a map?
PLEASE, I'D LOVE SO BAD TO PLACE FINALLY 1 SONG on MYSPACE.
What did go wrong,
1) can I chance these files into a format that should do it
2) Why do I have 48 different items like starting with SONG0000.BRO up to SONG0048.BRO?
I am desperate.

Re: SERIAL NUMBERS:HOW OLD IS YOUR GUITAR (2 replies, posted in Electric)
Thanks
Because of this "mystery"I wrote an email to the gibson company, and a few hours later an answer
Dear Dr. Philips,
Thank you for your interest in Gibson guitars.
The serial number refers to a guitar from 1967. However, we always start making "new" models already in the year before, just before its official (re-) introduction, which is 1968 in this case.
That the guitar is from 1967 is thus very well possible.
A link added: The specifications of the guitar should be as mentioned on the following webpage:

Add now some others
- THE DOORS = PROVOCATIVE, my opinion: JIM MORISSON'S was SO SHY that when he performed in the very beginning, with his back to the audience. He was a so called "ADONIS", being sexually very attractive and for girls and for boys.
- MADONNA
- THE BOYSBANDS, a phenomenon from the mid-nineties untill 2000, some last longer.
- THE RAP MOVEMENT: I think that for the FIRST TIME IN MUSIC HISTORY, people killed each other.
Mostof them started in a gang, but they escaped, 100%, I don't think, they owe $$ for X, for Y, so called gang-friends, protecting them.
By THE WAY SOUTH, THANKS.
PLEASE, I have a topic for BULLSH**, changing names of existing bands, and the artists.
I love to write ther, but it is a kind of "sudden inspiration". You can do it the hard way by looking for famous bands, use anagrams but THAT is time consuming.
I adore writing topics, I really don't know where most of them come. It starts like I took my capo, and 2 minutes later: a capo topic.

Topic: CAPODASTRES or CAPOS: THE BEST? (7 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
I don't think we have a topic, discussing capos.
There are of course different types.
What capo is considered as the best, because a lot and mostly cheap capos, placed on the second or the third fret, cause quit soon a "stay-in-tune" problem.
I found some on the online music stores.
- G7th 405 Performance Guitar Capo = 39.99$ and comments are VERY POSITIVE
- Dunlop Trigger Classical Guitar Capo = 14.99$
There are even 2 special capos:
- Kyser Short Cut 3-String Acoustic Guitar Capo, covers 3 strings only = 14.99$
- Kyser Drop D Capo = 19.95$
Who can help me and probably a lot of others about capos, which is the best, what capo do you use? I still use an old capo, and it is a real good one compared to some old "classic" capos I've got

Topic: IN ADDITION OF STRUMMING (JOHN CROSS) (2 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Is it really necessary to play guitar using a particular strumming?
- When I play acoustic, I DON'T PAY ATTENTION, about strumming. This is caused because I always played "my" way, and it is since chordie that I started to think about strumming.
- My strumming pattern is at random. I play the same song often different caused by my strumming
- My strumming pattern cann be 3 strums down, or 2 down and one up, or 4 down, one up.
1) IS IT NECESSARY TO FOLLOW A STRUMMING PATTERN?
2) SHOULD I PAY MORE ATTENTION ON MY STRUMMING, because in fact, even the difference between down and up, isn't a big difference for me. I play more "free" using strumming styles (up - down) more using my "feeling".
THANKS

Topic: SERIAL NUMBERS:HOW OLD IS YOUR GUITAR (2 replies, posted in Electric)
Very detailed information can be found in the BLUE BOOK FOR ELECTRIC GUITARS.
I have a GIBSON LES PAUL CUSTOM, and the seller who needed instant cash, one of the reasons why I started collecting.
The serial number is 880047, if I look at the SERIAL numbers of a GIBSON, this should be already produced in 1967.
Did they start to REPRODUCE in 1967, I always was told that the first year of reproduction of a GIBSON LES PAUL CUSTOM was 1968.
Can someone help me?

Thanks Tibernius. I found exact the same. I googled that number on the back of 1 humbucker AND a DiMarzio, on the other.
What I found is: with these humbuckers, a lot of $$$$$$. In fact too much
A LP Standard 159 (best year) can go up to 500.000$, at this moment, the best investment.
You need luck.

Topic: humbuckers patent 2737842 (3 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
I own an original GIBSON LES PAUL 1968 CUSTOM, first year of the new production line.
I replaced the humbuckers by a set of 2 P-94, to have the sound of the first CUSTOMS, and because I have another 1978 CUSTOM.
Unfortunately, when I was staying AGAIN in hospital, they cleanded up my house, moving a desk to a smaller room, now my PC room.
Originals DISAPPEARED. Saturday05/04/2008, my daughters boyfriend found them back, a big relief for me, having already more than enough "physical" misery.
On the back of one is written patent 2737842, and as far I could find, this seems to be a PAF, on my 1968 CUSTOM.
- Is this correct?
- What is the impact on the value?
I'm not interested in changing back my set P-94, because THAT sound is so great.
I also saw DiMarzio on the other.
Can somebody tell me more about this?
THANKS
I found more information and I read that when they re-introduced the GIBSON LP CUSTOM in 68, they used a DiMarzio humbucker AND a 2737842 humbucker. So this guitar seems to be worth a little fortune, AM I CORRECT? (again)

Re: A CONCEPTION (8 replies, posted in Songwriting)
IMAGINE THIS MAGICAL EVENT. You can discuss about it until you drop dead.
A lot of people think: if every type of human, Africans + Caucasians ( I didn't like what HALE BERRY said when she got that OSCAR, IT'S A VICTORY FOR AFRO-AMERICANS, no dear BERRY, stop using products for your hair, IT WAS ALSO A VICTORY FOR THE CAUCASIAN race), people from the East, so a few generations later everyone would have the same skin.
DON'T FORGET THE "GENETICS", it is possible that 2 people, blond hair, blue eyes can have a "coloured baby." I love genetics, always did, they are playing with fire. They have MAMMOTH DNA, but there is probably only ONE mammal capable of giving birth, a whale. Sooner, or later, they will start with an artificial "uterus".

Re: What acoustic guitar is considered as the best? (21 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Thanks Southpaw, this is in fact the kind of answer I would like to see. I'll change the title. Having a lot of acoustics, it is still very difficult to choose. Martin HD-28, my first, is still pretty close to the best. Once you're dealing with Taylor, Martin, Santa Cruz, Gibson, they all end using the same wood the "bracings" are important, but the sound is really "similar." One of my favorite acoustics is the Martin D-15, dark brown, I had these two for some years, and my 28 was a "he", my 15 a "she", soft, crystal clear sound, great, but half as loud as my 28. In fact the best one should be D-45V, but I can't tell much, I need new strings (probably elixir). So even strings can change the sound of the same guitar almost 50%.
My, probably last acoustic will be the new PRS acoustic line, in production now, or soon, now still private collection. But (nasty to say this) € versus $, is worth a trip to the USA. If the price in the US = 12.000$ = €7500, but here in the store, = 12.000€. I'll contact you if....I have $$$$.
ELECTRIC GUITAR: BEST = PRS, fantastic sound, plays like butter, for me the best guitar.
BUT ALL THIS IS SUBJECTIVE. Also, I'm not a huge fan of electro-acoustics.
Yes, we all have our taste (if not, we should all fall in love with the same woman ![]()
