Jan And Grah
thank you sooooo much for you interest.
its a bloody hard unforgiving thankless task writing a book.
Well the writing, i wrote 25 poems in a hour and stupidly thought i`m well on my way.
Looking back now that was the easy part, that was about 2% of what was required.
To self publish i had to learn publishing/barcodes/registration/copy right/ printing/illustration.
and now i have to learn promotion/marketing and distribution.
people ask me will i do it again?
i might climb Mt Everest naked instead,it would be far easier.

today i received an email from a school friend from 55 yrs ago.it got me thinking of my reply to him.

Wealthy Man
never thought i would get here
when i was a younger man
but im just around the corner
from three score years and ten
my fathers generation
rarely got to this age
a harder life back then
i havent changed that much
just old and hair thats turned to grey
i may move a little slower now
but im not in a hurry anyway
they say that health is wealth
so i feel so very lucky
that im a wealthy man

my four words from random generate

maybe you are not old enough to understand this song.

Theres been some left field poems recently thought i`d add another
Fast Lane
she burned her life
living in the fast lane
all the drugs she`d taken
and men she`d slept
her life went down the drain
she was only 30
though looked of 20 more
then that fateful night
after another day drinking alone
she was run over
while sleeping on the road
and so ending her life
as she had lived it
in the fast lane

Interesting comments guys.
Im still a cash person(for day to day smaller purchases)
when a young person behind the counter gives me funny look when i hand over cash.
i always say, when the power goes out, you`ll be ********** ill still have cash in my pocket.
on the other subject re internet etc,i have given up on news ages ago there is too much bias and opinion.
so now i go to specific sites that just report news.
eg business/cricket/farming/real estate/music /tennis
i realised  my opinion wont change anything.but i want to be informed on what interests me.
so now i dont get hit up about stuff i cant control.

Brian,

That was a really great song -well done ! I too enjoyed the whistling at the end - really added to the imprint of the room on my mind. Thanks for sharing.

Jim

ps - how is the kid's poem book coming along ?
I want a copy !!!

Tig
i have you to blame for my book, your comments re it needs to be published!
I think im having a ball putting it together, but it takes hundreds of hours and thousands of decisions.
I wrote each poem in a few minutes, that was by far the easy part.I found  Samantha an 18 yr old student
on a local website to do my illustrations.(also all the tech stuff)
Ive done a few test readings to see if the humour works,it seems to get lots of laughs. My first book was
very simple basic effort,im a bit embarrassed by it now.So putting extra effort into this one so i can be proud of it.
Im hoping to go to print in 4 weeks am also doing some marketing this time around,i have no expectations but thought
after all this work why not go all out!
my facebook pg  is Hazelrose Publishing
many many many thx for your interest
