My 70's Melody 12er (as with every guitar I own or have ever owned) regularly has all the strings removed to clean and to oil the fretboard. Every guitar that is brought in the shop I work at for restringing also and I have never had a problem. It is just not possible to clean a guitar and nourish the fretboard properly without removing all the strings.

My take on it is that if a guitar is not constructed well enough to have all the strings removed it is only fit for the rubbish bin.

Hi BJ,

Wishing for a successful conclusion to your back problem, In the meantime the guitar is is great way to take your mind off it and to develop new skills.

Roger

A warm welcome is extended to Stacy, but please start your own thread and tell us a little about yourself, your guitars and your ability so we can welcome you properly and not cloud the issue with messages for Bluejeep. smile

I too can sympathize with your frustration, but you do have to be patient and give you hand time to heal properly. I know, easier said than done, but hang in there buddy.

I put a small amount of graphite in my nut slots every time I change strings in the belief that prevention is better than cure. smile

My strings last 6 weeks!!!! I could never get them to last 6 months, so I suggest you try a new set before anything more expensive.

I remember singing and really enjoying 'Rose Marie', 'Indian Love Call' and 'I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen' as a child...... and I still remember most of the lyrics.

Dino, I am no Pc expert and I do not know what you are using. I use I.E. so this is the one I know. As I understand it most browsers remember what was on a page the last time you visited as it is quicker than reading and displaying the current page, so you can have a remembered error page showing after the error has been cleared. With I.E. it is easy to clear this. Next to the address box is a symbol http://www.large-icons.com/stock-icons/large-symbol/refresh-icon.gif this is the refresh button and will force the browser to look again at what is there now. I assume other browsers have something similar and this may be why you are seeing an error message.

There was a hiccup yesterday, which should now be resolved. I am guessing that the error message was a page remembered by your browser from yesterday, but if you have any further difficulties please let us know.

..............or use your middle to pinkie fingers. They are thnner and it makes the transition to playing, when that fateful day comes, the much feared, dreaded and (words that are not allowed on this child and lady friendly site),  'B' chord, easier to learn to play.

Welcome to Chordie,

Please e-mail Per (Chordie's founder) at admin@chordie.com and explain your difficulty to him.

I wonder if there may be a gremlin in the system preventing you from publishing it and, if so, he is the wizard to sort it out.
