Thanks everyone, appreciate you having a listen.

neophytte .... hope your wife enjoys the ukulele as much as I have and yes,  get your wife to join into FSOTM

Peatle .... thanks, Belinda and I have fun mucking around.

mojo01 ... thanks, Belinda is very good on the harmonica and just keeps getting better and better on it.  Something very cool about a harmonica.

Phill ....  Thanks but it isn`t a FSOTM song at all hence why i put it in this section wink   Yep it probably is longer than the original,  just as well its a "cover" we can cover it our way smile

Had fun mucking around with some songs today with a friend.  Here is one we played around with but only had two attempts at recording it before she had to go home.  I think with a couple more attempts at this song we could have done it a bit better and a mistake on my part in the song wouldn't be in there roll

Belinda on Harmonica
Me on vocals, ukulele and cajon.

mojo01  ... that was a touching song, after all that hard work then to be taken out by cancer and not get to enjoy life after and retirement.  I am sure your dad would have been very proud of your guitar playing and songwriting talent.

We now live in an apartment which saves us the house payment. The car is almost paid off. The complex furnishes free cable tv which saves us about  $100.00 a month, and we can now afford a cleaning person to come in every 2 weeks to help us keep the place clean.

We love you guys and ladies!

Bill

Well Bill,
I am glad to see there are some positives happening in your life, so keep trying to focus on the good stuff whilst your going through the tough stuff.  Hang in there, it will eventually pass and you will be back to yourself before you know it.  Thinking of you and Dondra smile

Well after reading through this post, i think i get the point your trying to make easybeat.

After thinking about it, i guess i would have to say i like getting comments, whether good or bad, not for my ego or to feel puffed up or in some cases deflated lol lol but comments/feedback give the singer, songwriter, musician a general feel of how they are doing, how they are improving, where they can improve, what works, what  doesn't work.   So yeah i think it is important to give feedback to the person/persons.

I like to give feedback/comments to people after they have posted their song/music/songwriting skills etc ..... I think they have taken the time and effort to do this, then yep they deserve some feedback.  Mostly I am able to give positive comments, occasionally I might make a suggestion  I think might help them make it better (not that i am any expert i might add and you all know lol )

zurf..... we do Jambalaya in our ukulele group as a performance song for the residents in retirement homes or rest homes but never learnt that as a beginners one smile

beamer, noted, a good idea, thanks smile

Impressive ctech ..... lyrics are great and amazing it all came from a dream, awesome!   I appreciate the back ground sound effects with the vocals too but would love to hear this same song sung by you without the back ground sound effects to hear how it compares.

Zurf ............. nice soft touch, gently sung, well done smile

Thanks Peatle for your comments smile  My leg now at 12 weeks on is still in a brace which i am hoping the orthopaedic surgeon will let me take off this Monday coming when I see him and hoping i can start to finally walk on it.  Will need physio though when i can walk as my leg won`t completely bend or straighten out.  Its been a long journey smile

Sorry to hear about the loss of your father in-law and your wife`s dad.  Love / hate relationships are always hard.  As Peatle said, best to just think about the good side and good stuff that happened with him.  Thinking of you at this time beamer.

Ok ............. got through listening to them all smile

neophytte .........  enjoyed your cover of Father and Son, well played and i liked the picking bits you did on guitar smile  Your 2nd song with your son was well done.   Your son did well as he had learnt the song off by heart by the looks (couldn't see him reading music at anytime) and his timing with the little shaker was on point!  He has an ear that boy of yours smile

easybeat .............. very original!  I liked the conversational commentary through it with the reverb on.  The message was definitely food for thought lol  smile

Beamer ...... wow your first one with the 15 attempts, you sure  gave it the heavy metal distorted treatment for sure smile  Your second song ~You don`t now how it feels~ i liked very much and thought that style suited you .... would like to hear more from you in this style smile

Hiya Strummberboy Bill.... I am with the other two who said BOMB!  Get those Bombs set off into every room of your house and garage and wipe those critters outta your life!  I am sure your on all sorts of medical creams and what not by now................but give good old fashioned eucalyptis oil ago and rub it all over yourself ................ beat they dont like that much!

Two songs I learnt at a ukulele class I attended ( from memory and I cant honestly remember which one was first) so putting them both down were ~Elvira~ and
~ Folsom Prison~.
On guitar years ago when I self taught myself I think it was ~Sylvia`s Mother~.

Ok, this month after asking you the members, we have a new idea from one of our members ZURF, who has come up with this  idea.  Zurf has suggested we have a Challenge Theme that uses the FIRST SONG each of us learned to play.   A great idea!  He mentioned they most likely will be relatively easy songs to learn and hopefully more people will jump on-board and have ago at the challenge.

LET DO IT! Jump onboard, have ago at this!.  Whether you’re a singer, a guitarist, or  play any other instrument,  a song writer or any or all of the above, come join in and let`s see what we all learnt first!  It may just be a musical piece, you may be able to sing or not sing, it doesn’t matter, it’s the joining in and challenging each other to attempt that song that is the fun of it all.

READY, SET, GO!!!

This month we have TWO COVERS that have been chosen by your votes … one form the USA and one from the UK.

USA - voted in was TOM PETTY.  No particular song was named, so therefore you can cover ANY SONG of his that you want.  He had many well-known songs such as Free Fallin`, I wont Back Down, American Girl, Stop Dragin` My Heart Around, You Wreck Me to name a few.

From Wikipedia:  Thomas Earl Petty (October 20, 1950 – October 2, 2017) was an American musician, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer best known as the lead singer of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He was also a member and co-founder of the late 1980s supergroup the Traveling Wilburys, and his early band Mudcrutch.
Petty recorded a number of hit singles with the Heartbreakers and as a solo artist, many of which are mainstays on adult contemporary and classic rock radio. His music became popular among younger generations. In his career, Petty sold more than 80 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. In 2002, Petty was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Petty suffered cardiac arrest early in the morning of October 2, 2017, and died that night at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, California.

UK -  the song voted in was FATHER & SON by CAT STEVENS.

From Wikipedia:  "Father and Son" is a popular song written and performed by English singer-songwriter Cat Stevens (now known as Yusuf Islam) on his 1970 album Tea for the Tillerman. The song frames an exchange between a father not understanding a son's desire to break away and shape a new life, and the son who cannot really explain himself but knows that it is time for him to seek his own destiny.
Stevens sings in a deeper register for the father's lines, while using a higher one for those of the son. Additionally, there are backing vocals provided by Stevens' guitarist and friend Alun Davies beginning mid-song, singing an unusual chorus of simple words and sentences such as "No" and "Why must you go and make this decision alone?".

Here are a couple of links of the younger and older Cat Stevens:
