Here are 4 of my Portuguese students performing the Flashdance theme tune: http://youtu.be/rwgKpMA0CX8
Sisters; Filipa (lead vocal and rhythm guitar) and Rita (keyboard and backing vocals) with Aleshandra (lead guitar and backing vocals) and Bruno (bass).
I have unashamedly used part of the original film clip and finished with photos of the band.
I like very much (although I am also unashamedly biased in their favour
) but I hope you like it too.

Joaó is a great guy, the first Portuguese that I got to know real well. We share a passion for music we did a few gigs together and even with the distance between us I consider him to to be one of my most trusted friends. Do go and see him and make sure that you introduce yourself to him.

By the way Portugal, well the Algarve really, relies so much on tourism that language is not a problem, the majority speak English. I decided to move here sooner than Spain because a/ the people are very friendlier than the Spanish and b/ English is generally spoken here.
Guitars plug in?
Yes they can; but do you do need to get electricity first
.
Rog
Now if you were coming to the Algarve I could perhaps help more but I have little knowledge of Spain.
The only suggestion I can think of is to make a CD of a few numbers that you can hand out to the bar owners so they know what you do. I went with my friend Joaó to do this before he moved to the UK and he had some success with it.

there's an even simpler way of avoiding this problem in the future
solution a, do not let your wife in the same room as your guitars
solution b, get rid of your clumsy wife, she may be trying to dispose of your guitars! cant have that
solution c, buy a wireless system for your guitar (much cheaper than replacing the wife) ![]()

Thanks to Jeff from me too. It was a fun evening, sorry I had to bow out early but it was late here
.
Off to work now

I like this litle gem Robert, however I did my usual Peter, Paul and Mary thing to it and adapted it to suit me.
Here are the changes I made:
You have heard the song and I know you approve but I have now added a slide show to it and uploaded it to YouTube.
Here is the link: http://youtu.be/-hxyCuSDCy4
Roger
I might be a little late (possibly 30 minutes) but I will certainly be there.

A singer cannot alter his/her vocal range, a musician can very easily change key so:
The golden rule is the music is played in the key that the singer finds comfortable.

I was knocking on the door for half an hour and there was so much noise that I cold not be heard, so I came home. ![]()
Happy anniversary to whoever and I hope you all had a great time.

It is Stephen Fearing and here is a vid of the song in question:

What is Treble Bleed?
If you look two posts before yours, Just Tel has a link to an explanation.

BTW Welcome to Chordie, Rocky.
Sorry to hear this, my friend, I am praying and wishing that you (or the medics) can find an answer for you. I know how distressed I would be in your situation.
Roger
Dino, you cannot believe all that is put in advertisments, if so I would have the physique and looks of Adonis and the strength of Hercules instead of being the wrinkled old prune that I see in the mirror

Welcome to Chordie bassnbrew.
welcome too the site bassnbrew, you might try www.chordpickout.com,they have an add here at chordie. Good sounding group and song.
Hi Dino, you seem very happy with this product so will you please use it to give bassnbrew the chords.
I tried it a while ago and found it to be inaccurate so I would like the latest results to see if it has been improved. (Having used it for the trial period I cannot try it again without buying it, so I look forward to the results from someong who is using it).

First and most importantly, the truss rod adjustment on the neck is to ensure that the fretboard is straight and true ONLY. It is not for trying to make it easier to play or eliminating buzzes. So the first thing to do is to look along the fret board, if there is any bow or hollow then adjust it to be straight. (I am gussing that you may have already done this).
If the buzzing disappears with the capo on the 1st fret it indicates that the first fret is a little too high and needs crowning but this is not really a job to take on if you have no experience, a luthier will quickly tell you if it is needed and give you an estimate on the cost.

Not a very good recommendation for the repairer. The damage should have been noticed and repaired before, or pointed out to you, when you collected it.
Many years ago I was Service Manager at a Ford main dealer and a new Cortina that had been brought in for it's 6 week service slipped off the ramp and damaged its front wing (damaged!!! it was destroyed
). When the owner collected his car that evening and I confessed to him the mishap that had befallen his pride and joy he was none to happy. That is, until I showed him his car, I'd had the wing replaced, repainted, and the striping renewed. He said he would not have know without being told. One happy customer who kept returning regularly.

I would go into the local music stores and try the ones that were in my price range. The name on it means nothing as one for you will just feel and sound absolutely right.
Roger
The link that Russ has posted for Norwegian Wood is available to me in Portugal.
Roger
Thanks for the recording Jeff,
Because of the way it shows I was rushing the chord changes on those last two lines. (Tenho a cabeça de burro) ![]()
The quality of the recording was absolutely fine, by the way, but you would have to compress it to send the full song and a compressed recording is plenty good enough for playback on a PC's sound system. Thank you again.
Roger
That explains it. I only keep an English and a Portuguese dictionary by my PC............... don't tell me I am going to have to get a German one as well
.
It is far, far better being able to hear a song than to just play it from the lyrics and chords. From reading, I did not realise it was a 12 bar in E but it was obvious as soon as I started listening to it.
It makes a big difference being able to hear how a song is intended to be performed.
Thank you and well done.
Rog
I played it through and, unusually for me, I was able to contunue with the parts that had no chords. I liked the song but it probably would not go down to well at an A.A. meeting but anywhere else it would be fine.
Thanks Jerome. When will be hearing a recoring of it
?
