I used to go to the concerts on closing day.  Just missed out on playing one of the concerts in a backup orchestra.  I had dropped out of that orchestra to take on some paying jobs, and then they got selected to play behind Chuck Mangione at a closing day concert.  What a drag!!  I did go to the concert and some of my friends were on stage with him.  They said he's every bit as nice and friendly as he seems.  His bus had broken down on the way to the concert, and he had had a late night concert the night before, so when he showed up for the concert he hadn't slept in 36 hours, but he still put on a great show and still took time out to sit on the stage and sign autographs and answer questions from fans afterwards.

Vegas.  Sure.  "Hey honey - I'm going to Vegas to uh... play guitar.  Yeah, that's it.  To play guitar."

This guy's from my neck of the woods.  He was one of the good guys.  He didn't just do this locally - but traveled around the region.

The little boy was fishing so hard he had an accident, poor wee lad. He didn't want his Momma to take him for a change either.

I went to one that's a twenty minute drive from my house, and passed just shy of a dozen wineries to get there.

Turns out my neighbors went with me, so I spent much of my time fishing with their 5 and 8 year old kids. The 8 year old caught 4 fish, including a big ol' bass.

Well, I banged out a few songs on my twelver before heading to the winery because Mrs. Zurf wasn't quite ready to go.  Now I'm going to go catch some big bass, sip a bit, and see what happens.

Some wine, a little picking, some fishing.  I wish you were here to play along, whoever you are.

I don't recall you mentioning there would be hot butts before...  You might have changed some minds of folks who stayed home.

If nothing else, musicate entering our vocabulary was worth the post.

I get insomnia frequently. It's not fun.

All songs are true.  Some are even factual.

sorry zurf no compredee...what picture requirement? but i'll recomend it. i've never been able to get that "fender" sound but with a few tweeks it was there...bliss. till i forgot to save it...wotadik

There's a picture requirement for NGD's.  Obligation really.  I think the rule is less clear with U, or P, or B.

Never did care for his originals.  He's a prolific song-writer, but a lot of his songs never made a lick of sense to me.  That'd be OK if the musicianship was strong enough, but by and large they're campfire strummers (even the electric work).  All in all, I'd rather play a Dirty Ed album again than listen to Dylan.

I do like it when people cover Dylan's better songs.  In a long career of prolific song-writing, he has written a lot of good songs.  But, when mixed in with the other songs that are so-so on an album, I'm just not that into it.  I never really did see the appeal of Dylan when there are so many local singer-songwriters out there performing in bars and producing what I consider to be much better music.

I did enjoy Ramblin' Jack Elliott's quote when asked how he managed to sound so much like Dylan; "I've been sounding like Dylan for 20 years, and he's only been playing for five.  You figure it out."

Have fun.  Mash some strings.  Strain some voices.  Crush some cans.  And most of all ... "Follow THAT!!!"

Stick with it Strummerboy and do your best.  You're one of us, and that's what matters.

Every single day, I wake up thinking "Thank God it's Friday."  1/7th of the time it works out.

In my car doors, in a box in my office, spread on my desk, and stuffed in a bookcase.  They are in this order:

The ones in the box in my office are ones that I've ripped to my computer.
The ones on my desk are ones that I haven't ripped to my computer if they are to the right of the monitor, or ones that I have ripped to my computer if they are to the left of my monitor and I just haven't put them in the cardboard box yet.  The ones in my truck are ones I just bought and haven't got tired of yet, and the ones in the bookcase are ones that I ripped to my computer and sometime or other got up the gumption to move them out of the cardboard box on the floor.

It's an efficient and effective organizational system.

I have offered $40 to my kids to put them in binders in alphabetical order, but they have declined.

Whoopi called.  She's very disappointed.

I've got one.  I keep it tuned, but I don't play it.  Only so much time in the day to learn instruments.

That's a pretty bass for sure, and who doesn't appreciate a blue guitar?

I don't know how many strings are on my autoharp, but it's a lot. Of course the piano has 88.
