Song about needing love... a slight bit of reference to Martin Luther ( 1521) in the first chorus line smile

Here I StandJim Kenyon

[Em]There’s no place to hide to ease my pain, like [G] running down the road in a pouring rain

[D]embraced by the shadow of soft moonlight, l’m [Em] looking for someone to make life right

[Em]They tell me that wisdom comes over time, and to [G]just have faith in this heart of mine

[D]But I can’t wait no longer, I need help now, need to[Em] find a love and survive somehow

.

Chorus

[Em]So here I stand, yeah here I stand, like [G]many years ago in a different land

[D]here I stand, yeah here I stand, oh I’m [Em]waiting for you to take me by the hand

[Em]So here I stand, here I stand, just [G]looking for someone that can understand

[D]Oh here I stand, here I stand,I’m [Em]waiting for love in the[D] promised [Em]land

.

[Em]Thinking about the day when the ache is gone, it’s the [G] dream that I’ve been working on

[D]I’ve searched my soul, looking for an answer, I [Em]hear the music but I’ve got no dancer

[Em]Hoping for a lover to keep me warm, and [G]bring me some shelter from this storm

[D]There’s no telling what tomorrow brings, but [Em]I want to be somebody's everything

.

Bridge

[Am]so here I stand..........waiting for a sign

[Em] here I stand.........put your lips on mine

[Am]here I stand ............. needing something new

and [B7] here I stand............. waiting for a love like [Em]you

solo through the chords again into the chorus...

.

Chorus

[Em]So here I stand, yeah here I stand, like [G]many years ago in a different land

[D]here I stand, yeah here I stand, oh I’m [Em]waiting for you to take me by the hand

[Em]So here I stand, here I stand, just [G]looking for someone that can understand

[D]Oh here I stand, here I stand,I’m [Em]waiting for love in the[D] promised [Em]land

outgo, little slower....

[D]Oh here I stand, here I stand,I’m [Em]waiting for a trip to the[D] promised [Em]land

[D]Oh here I stand, here I stand,I’m [Em]waiting for love in the[D] promised [Em]land

Slow ending

[D]here I stand, yeah here I stand, oh I’m [Em]waiting for you to take me [D]by the [Em]hand

[D]no matter how long it takes, I'm gonna [Em] stand til I reach the [D] promised [Em]and.

The problem with selling them is that you get about 20% of the value -
it's similar to automobiles - soon as it leaves the lot - re-sale value plummet's like a stone in water.
Might as well keep it.  I'm at 12 and that where I will stay. I don't need any more and don't really want to sell at a huge loss.
Someone on here once put a quote out that said something like " My biggest fear is that my wife is going to sell off my guitars after I die for what I told her I paid for them ! "   smile

My wife's favorite -  "  you spend big $ on a new guitar b/c you say you can hear the difference, but you can't her me calling you from the kitchen to take the garbage out! "

I think mine ( and probably Beamer's) is  " You can't buy happiness, but you can buy guitars, and that's close enough for me !"  ::)
That's just my humble opinion as a guitar player that doesn't really even play smile

Jim

CTECH

This sounds like it could be a track for a Hollywood movie.
I was picturing an advancing army of knights heading toward a castle.

This sounds awesome!
Way to go

She is very " Clapton like" !

Excellent guitar and a deep resounding voice with great range.
The last song Wicked soul is my fave - thanks for the turn on to great music!!!

He's real good. Love the resonator guitar - I almost bought one once - then my good senses kicked in and said you can barely play a regular guitar - what are ya thinking !  smile

They are excellent !

I liked the way the song changes - it's almost like they switch genres a couple of times.  Superb guitar  playing and the keyboard was top rate as well.
It is so sad that he died - I can't imagine the suddeness - went to a show the night before to watch another band play  - was fine - goes home - then has a full cardiac arrest and dies.
40 is way too young - reminds of the song six strings down -  angels done took anothe (blues) stringer back home"

good post TF  TY

TF thanks for the kind words - it just comes easy for me - and i am always cognizant of phrases and comments that would be great themes. There are so many great contributors here on Chordie it seems to be  easy pickens as such.

I play it in both keys  of  A  and G     and like it both ways.

Peatle - that was a great description of a time gone by in the area.
When I read about the park, it just seemed so peaceful and beautiful. Do you know if the deer and chestnut trees are still as prevalent ?
I did not realize the link between Captain Vancouver and the Canadian city ! Thanks for the history lesson.

Phill - interesting history regarding the King.  Also, what or who  is CNET ?

Thank you all for the positive feedback - I wish I could sing b/c I think this is really a beautiful little song that is happy and sad at the same time.
I can so picture a gentleman who has lost his life long partner walking through the park and thinking these words.

Thanks again !  Maybe if I get my courage up I'll record it.

He was really in a groove.  Reminds of the the line from Springsteen's Thunder Road - " I've learned how to make this guitar sing"  !

If I could fingerpick 20 % as good as that  I think I could be famous.
Thanks for sharing

reminds a bit of Kurt Cobain story a bit.

None the less... the guy was absolutely lights out musician.... He and Frampton were a classic pairing
If I remember correctly Frampton left the band around 1970-71

When I was in college in Pennsylvania in  1974 , he played as Peter Frampton - in our auditorium. My roommate talked me into going... had no idea who he was....Wasn't more than 200 of us idiots in there.

A year later he sold out the Cow Palace in San Francisco about 50,000 attended....  -  his album " Frampton comes alive" was a mega hit !

He is 69 now and still on tour !

Love to see him again !

Very tragic story of how he died.
Alcohol, drugs and smoking in bed - not a good combination.

I was just talking with a friend yesterday about all of the famous people that have
" made it" big and then find a way to screw it up  and have it all taken away in a flash.

Well ......  I read Ctech and Angela's "stormy skies" post and then was looking around England on the internet since my daughter is there to be in her friends wedding and I found this beautiful park called Richmond.  I've never been there but it sounds awesome.  Then add Phill's post this morning about - " Hey what are you doing? "   So I wasn't really doing anything - but as I was reading about the deer in Richmond Park I started to play my acoustic guitar a bit and it morphed into a 3/4 time little "waltzy" thing. Before I knew it I imagined a love story happening there.  This is what I came up with !
Hope you like it and hope the park is as beautiful as it sounds.

Richmond Park by Jim Kenyon

[A]It was in a place called –Richmond park, where people gather and [E]talk

a girl like the wind,  swept me off of my feet

I could barely [A]walk,

With clouds floating by in the deep blue sky, lying under chestnut [D]trees

She took my hand, then she [A]took my heart

She was[E] everything to[A] me

.

Chorus

[D]Oh, Richmond park,Oh[A] Richmond park

Where[E] deer run wild and [A]free

[D]Oh Richmond park, Oh [A]Richmond park

[E]You brought true love to[A] me

.

[A]She was a vision of beauty just like Richmond park, I fell with all my[E] heart

her eyes and her smile reached into my soul, I knew

that we’d never [A] part

The years rolled along, like a ship on the sea, cutting through every [D]wave

Her voice and her laughter are still [A] in my mind

Oh such [E]memories to cherish and [A] save

.

Chorus

[D]Oh, Richmond park,Oh[A] Richmond park

Where[E] deer run wild and [A]free

[D]Oh Richmond park, Oh [A]Richmond park

[E]A love that will always [A]be

.

[A]Twilight now falls on Richmond park, and I walk the paths a[E]lone

silence echoes in my ears, as

angels have taken my love back [A]home

The sky is dark ,it’s starting to storm, the rain helps hide my [D]tears

I’ll never forget how she [A]loved this place

As we [E]shared it through all of these [A]years

[D]Oh, Richmond park,Oh[A] Richmond park

Where[E] deer run wild and [A]free

[D]Oh Richmond park, Oh [A]Richmond park

[E]Bring back my love to [A]me

(Repeat 2nd chorus)

[D]Oh Richmondpark, Oh[A] Richmond park

Where[E] deer run wild and [A]free

[D]Oh Richmondpark, Oh [A]Richmond park

[E]A love that will always [A]be

Slow

[E]A love that will always [A]be

[E]A love that will always [A]be
