I do quite a lot of parties and barbeque entertainment for the Brit pack out here and even though it's quite low-key it takes a bit of effort .we do tend to make it a bit of an open Mic session so any one who wants to do a turn is welcome to get up and have a go but usually it's either Kev ,Brian or me who do the bulk .But it does encourage people to have a go,as its not as nerve racking as a real open Mic because it's just usually family and friends.
Any way back to whining my hand still hurts and is swollen ,Doug can you recommend a good nurse we can hire along with the road crew?

I am knackered this morning I'm getting too old for this Greek rock, last night we played nearly 5 hrs in our set to a fantastic audience ,a packed venue lots of enthusiastic dancers and the camera packed up again .I had cramp in my hand during 3 songs and leg cramps driving home this morning .I don't know how these traditional Greek bands do it , we st up at 6 30 pm sound checked started playing at 9.30 finished our set at around 2 30 packed the gear away and got home at 4 this morning .I think I'm gonna stick to festivals in future , you go ,plug in play 1hr un plug and come away , Much easier ........No wait a minute this is rock and roll ......long live rock and roll...

Cant remember if I posted this before but this is the original version of a song Liz Wheeldon and I wrote about 3 yrs ago its been in GB's set since then and went down a storm at Matala this year with Elpida Hatzidakis on vocal .However this version has me singing and playing every thing it so I hope you enjoy it .I hope to have a live version from tonight's gig if the camera doesn't fail again.

yeah I have a copy its quite true to life in a lot of ways ,but despite all the moans and groans Its great here the people are fantastic the weather is superb some of the music is great its just the trad stuff grates on your nerves after a few hours .I have some friends who play "modern" lyra and they are amazing .Its a strange technique as you don't press the strings down as in violin you rest your fingernail against the string to make the note my friend Kostis says its easy but he's been playing since he was a kid .He threatened to teach me but I make it sound even worse than you can imagine I'll stick to guitar .

As I write ,next door in the Village school yard there is a Greek wedding reception taking place complete with traditional Lyra band playing at full volume through a system of several kilowatts .The sound is not too dissimilar to some one sawing a bag full of cats in half . It is 10 pm local time and they have just started I know from experience this will continue till at least 5 am. Thankfully they are some what better than the average so it is slightly less nerve shattering.
May I take this opportunity to wish the newly weds a long and loving relationship but it doesn't secretly stop me from praying for a power cut .
Seriously though events like this are great (when you don't live next to the venue )still I get the chance for revenge in September when we host the annual rock concert ,now where's my ear plugs .

Way to go Amy I hope you have a great time ,make sure you get some video then us who can't be there get to enjoy it to. I love busking Cindy and I spent about 3hrs in the streets of Matala the day after we played our set at the festival this year just jaming and playing stuff not normally in our sets ,it was great when folks stopped us and said how come you sent on the main stage to which I replied should have been here yesterday when we were.
