Something that is important and that I do not spend enough time practicing is learning the whole fretboard, note for note. Here's a link that should help me (and maybe others) master this task. (or at least improve)

Russell is correct, however you can suggest songs be added to the chordie index via the below link. The songs must be hosted on some other site.

Welcome to chordie Eric!

The short answer is no. Chordie is a search engine and does not host any songs.

Please review the FAQ and other areas of the "resources" section for further explanation.

Hi Tspaxton and welcome to chordie!

The only thing I can think of is something to do with your color settings. The chords typically print a light blue as you see them on screen. Maybe try changing your print settings to print Black and White and see if that works?

Well except for *****, he's a grumpy old man - but we all love him anyway, he's really a nice guy deep down.

There is that one crazy poster ****** you might want to avoid. Certainly don't respond to his messages seeking pics.

Cam,

Congrats to Coach K and your Dookies. Can't say I am a fan, but I certainly admire what he / they have accomplished over the past 30 years or so. I remember when Duke wasn't all that much competition - been a long time ago.

That said, anybody who can take records away from Dean-o and gets under the skin of the tar holes gets a thumbs up from me!

Jeff

Hi abbylovesguitar and welcome to Chordie!

Takamine is a well respected name in the guitar industry and in general and IMO, makes a quality "bang for your buck" guitar. That said, without knowing more details (like model #), it is hard to say a Tak for $300 is a good deal - they make guitars in a very large price range. I own a Tak EF series and am happy with it's playability and tone.

There are several manufacturers to consider in the $300 range - a couple others that come to mind are Seagull and Yamaha. Your best bet is to visit your local shop (or shops preferably) with a guitar playing friend and play and listen to everything in your price range. Then let your fingers and ears be your guide.

Good Luck!

Ok - This thread has lived it's life. It was 2 months old and buried before Holycats resurrected it. I can only see political discussions deriving in the future and these subjects should be avoided in this forum (I am as guilty as any). This thread is now closed.

Upon re-reading this post, I feel like I may have been too harsh on the lad (and I can only assume the poster is a youngster). But I really can't stand folks who complain about this service THAT IS FREE! When I first began playing guitar, if I wanted to find the chords to a tune, I'd have to buy a songbook - and even then, most songs were not available. I realize times have changed and this generation demands immediate satisfaction.

Now if the OP were a little more positive, instead of posting a complaint, he could have requested the chords for whatever song he was looking for on the song request forum and multiple friendly chordie members (including myself) would have tried to help him out. As a moderator, I should be above calling names, but man..complainers really gets under my skin sometimes.

So I apologize for calling the OP a whineybabyspew.... Perhaps IwantwhatIwantandIwantitnow would be more appropriate.

Hi Tom - Welcome to chordie

From Wiki:

"When You Walk in the Room" is a song written and recorded by Jackie DeShannon, first released by her in 1963 but covered by many artists.

Welcome to the chordie forum mbfrafo31. I see you've been a member for many years and really appreciate the valuable contribution of your first post.

A quick glance at the thousands of songs available at chordie should show you that 85% to 90% of the songs are offered in chord format. Many members appreciate the tabs that are also offered. Further research will show you that chordie is really just a search engine and does not host any songs, but offers chords / tabs that are available elsewhere on the net. If you find a song with chords, you are welcome to suggest adding it via the resources tab.

I suggest a user name change for you to whineybabyspewoutthemouthwithoutthinking.  Just a suggestion.

It's amazing how spoiled we become by technology. So let's think about this. Chordie (who's servers are located in Norway) does not host any songs - it is a search engine that finds songs posted elsewhere on the net and formats them all pretty / chordie like to make them easy to transpose / read / print.

So a user like earthcreeper who may be from, say Des Moines, Iowa wants to see the chords to a tune. Many of the most popular tab sites are located in Russia, since sites there are not currently being sued by the MPAA. I'm guessing the data round-trip is easily over 25,000 miles or roughly a one-way trip around the world. 15 years ago sending this data via postal mail would have taken what - 3 or 4 weeks. 10 years ago with the best dial-up modem it would have taken 20 or 30 minutes (at least). Now, 95% of the time the songs appear immediately, on occasion it takes a minute or 2 (and I don't think I've ever experienced a 2 minute delay) And some users will complain and whine about this FREE service.

What do they call this - the "Me Generation" or the "Now Generation" ? Give me a break or get a better ISP. I used to walk to school uphill both ways in the snow and remember working and corresponding before email and even the fax machine (gasp!)
