Thought I may as well write a tune about this adventure 2 lines a day for a week than a verse a week.It can be good therapy cause the song is more important than smoking.
I'll try not to "drag" it on.  LOL

                                             Get er Done Son smile

Day ones come thy will be done.
Gonna quit smokin gotta get er done.
Day twos here gonna face the fear.
Drink a lotta water ain't drinkin no beer.
Now it's day three and I've got the shakes.
I don't know how much my body can take.
On day four had a bad attack.
Smoked two smokes,just a little set-back.
Day five's passed and my lungs are gassed.
Look at all the money my wallets a-massed.

Wow Pix.....Awesome links you've posted. The first real guitar I bought 35 years back was a Norman and I loved it and still wish I had it.I haven't seen any around and I figured they went out of business.Very Cool Indeed Sir. I shall be looking at these links very close. I just did a real quick stop off at godinguitars to check the Normans and was happily surprised that they use Fishman electronics.
Shall keep you posted

Big Thanks from Canada(and I didn't think you were rambling)

Just wondering if anybody out there has ever had dealings with tenitis,I think thats how it is spelled. Tenitis is a constant ringing or buzzing in your ears that will not stop.I have been dealing with it for the last 5 years and can be very frustrating at times cause it gets so loud you can just about feel it.Been to the docs about it and had all the tests done and the end result is, it's Tenitis and no cure, just learn to deal with it.Also have been to a lot of forums looking for answers on it with the same results...Learn to Deal With It.Which I have but I've been wondering if it has been affecting anyone in the music end of it and how they handled it.

Hey Leo smile You say you have been playing for only a few months,Don't be hard on yourself if you cant tune by ear right away.I know lots of players that are real good and have a hard time tuning. You'll pick it up when you pick it up.Have fun with it and it'll come to you, after you got your guitar serviced.

Hey tunedeaf.Nice to see an Ontario lad here.$50-60 is what I spend also.As much as the cost is a factor, it is more important for me to up and quit and stay quit cause I know it's the right thing to do.Getting back into guitar has done a lot for my self confidence as has joining Chordie.Self confidence I think is key.Lots of good people here that have been smokers and have quit.I don't see why we can't be in that group also. I never could do Johnny Cash anyways.LOL
Keep in touch and let me know how your doing
Good Luck to you Sir and Me Both. smile

Awesome lyrics "I guess that I should have known better, write me a card or send me a letter"
I get a John Prine feel to your song, which to me is a pleasure singing to.
Good topic that a lot of folks can relate to.
I have fond memories of the food bank delivering bushel baskets of food for Christmas.I can recall as an  8 year old pulling out a can of beans from the pile and happily yelling out B-E-A-N-S. My Mom looked so happy, I'm guessing because we were happy.Thats the way Moms are.Give up everything so we could have something.

Thanks Again smile

I have been looking at some acoustic electrics, taking my time and playing different models looking for the one that suites me.
I have been looking at a Corg. They are not expensive, have a nice sound with Fishman electronics.I am just not familiar with the name.
Anybody out there got any feedback on this manufacturer.
Thanks smile

Hi Leo D
Welcome to Chordie
I would suggest you buy a tuner as being off just a touch will sound like a mile. They are fairly cheap to buy now a days
You could have excellent pitch and that is why it sounds off.
Barre chords will depend on you and the guitar you are playing. The harder the guitar plays the more effort you have to put into it.No such thing as a time table for this as it's an individual thing.
It sounds to me like your guitar needs to be brought to the guitar hospital for a check up.I would advise this as it will take away from the frustrations and make playing that much more enjoyable.Maybe that is why you are having a hard time tuning it also.
As for artists....You got good taste and there are lots of chordies here that will point you in the right direction.
Hope it helps smile

Grade 9/1969 It was time for our yearbook picture.I made sure that I wore decent clothing that day cuz I wanted to look good. Nice dark brown pants with a matching brown shirt. My hair was longer then, shoulder length and I felt good with myself.
Now me being of shorter stature when it came to group pictures I was always front and center.I took my spot with the rest of my classmates and smiled proudly cuz I was in "Grade Nine".Finally when the pictures were printed in the yearbook I anxiously jumped to our page.To my shock and horror the picture turned out too perfect cuz there I was front and center wearing my dark brown pants with a decent rip right where you don't want one.No such thing as colored underwear back then....nothing but white.
Needless to say I took a lot of ribbing from my classmates and I imagine the rest of the school had a good chuckle too. Man...it was a long year after that.
Don't know why the photographer didn't say anything,he could have saved me a lot of grief LOL
Anyways I look back on it now fondly and with a smile.
So with all the young Chordies that have joined this site, keep this thread in mind for your yearbook pictures.Make Sure.....Make Darn Sure...Make Darn Darn Sure.

Thanks for the thread and the memories

Hi Gesader. I don't like my voice either, have big problems with the micro-phone and am really gun shy about soloing in front of people but I'm getting there with practice.I also don't see any problem using a song book but I would take the time to memorize the songs that mean the most to you. They will come across more powerful and in return give you more confidence for the dreaded solos.Hope that helps smile

Chopro can't handle them best to specify them in the the intro.
Man you certainly turn out the songs. smile
[Just looked at your song again did you want the Am, A7 and A6 to be bass walk down just curious.]
Ark

Thanks Roger and Ark.Still trying to get a handle on this.
Let me know if I'm right on this,302210 is what I want,I think for A7
                                              202210 is what I want,I think for A6.
If it makes sense to you I will edit as what I'm playing is a little bit different still.
In the intro I would define the A6 + A7 with these sets of numbers?

Thanks Again smile

Hi Kerry and Roger.
I was having a problem logging out on my work PC.I got my password changed and when I got back to work I was still logged in with original password.and still couldn't log out.I left it alone as I was thinking it was big brother watching me.I left it alone for a week or so then went into PC with help of buddies and removed all saved passwords and then it was OK.
I got home and logged on, tried to post a reply to HoneyBee when everything bogged down and I couldn't loggin with new password.I had to get password changed again and have not had a problem since although I won't loggin at work.
I'm sure there are gonna be bugs in the system and thats OK.
Sorry I can't help you anymore than that.

Played slow with light strumming and picking.
Note:Am/G=302210   Am/F#=200210  E7=020130

Stopped into a few stores today to check out some guitars in the $500 range and they all played nice but definitely different.I've got a lot checking to do. LOL. The 3 stores I was in all spoke of Fishman electronics and I heard nothing but praise so that will give me a direction to search.

Thanks Zurf smile

No ear bending there bonedaddy. I'm setting the date to give it up for good and any and all advise will be a huge help.I'm sure I'll be back checking this thread often for tips and reasons about why I should quit while I'm quitting.
Thanks tubatooter1940 and welcome to Chordie. Hopefully I haven't done damage and will be able to try that out.
Congrats on quitting and an even bigger congrats on your bypass and not letting it slow you down.
