Cheers and thank you everyone for your kind comments.
I should also mention that even though they are a very positive family and fun to be around they do grieve in their own way. Her son said to me something along lines of what follows here.  In the moments after Mum died at the hospice I held her hand for the last time. I felt she had gone to a good place and was at peace. When they took her away I felt a bit conflicted in my emotions, couldn’t help thinking why am I feeling happy when at this time I should be crying and sad. We all left the Hospice and went to Mums house. Everyone headed into the lounge while I went into the kitchen and fed her cat. When I entered the lounge all the seats apart from one  were taken and people were sitting on the floor. I looked over at my mothers favourite chair it was the  only chair  no-one was sitting on. It was then I burst out into tears knowing she would never sit there again. As a family it will be at her house our family home that we will have our mournful moments. Having to sell her house and empty it out is going to be hard as that is where many of our good and some sad family memories are.
EB,  the poem more or less wrote itself.
Jandle,   She was an amazing lady.
TF,  they are a special family and have  a natural way of rolling  along well when they tackle family  hardship in their positive way.
Thank you for your condolences.
Phill,  your absolutely right the most important emphasize should be on birth and life.

Thank you Jim for your kind words.   A quote by  Thornton Wilder  “We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.”

Merry Christmas Jim your song captures the meaning of Christmas real good.

This is a poem I wrote about a friend of mine  funeral yesterday and also about her Mother and one of her sons who passed on before her.  It is  a  summation of part of their family story over seven plus decades.
                                                                                                       Life Is Fun

Life Is Fun written on your T Shirt.
Sums up your life now.
At your sons funeral you wore this T Shirt.
It was your message to everyone celebrate his life.
You and your two sons made it fun.
A celebration  not a sad funeral all very appropriate.
You were a baby in Latvia during world war two.
Your mother escaped with you to New Zealand.
She saw and experienced horrors on your journey to here.
Now we are here life is fun was her message to you.
The message she  passed down to you and your three sons.
Life is fun.
Then your grandchildren entered this world.
What did they learn, life is fun.
Last year you got the bad news your time left is short around here.
You didn’t waste time singing the Blues.
Songs of joy for you.
You put on your LIFE IS FUN Tshirt and told the family your news.
You told your family it will be okay even though your body was fading away.
Don’t worry about me we will come through this like we have before.
Just another door to pass through as we have done before.
Early this year your Mum passed away and once again out came your Tshirt.
Now we are here today to say farewell to you.
Lots of fun and laughter talking about you.
Right behind where they have laid you  on a coathanger is hung a Tshirt.
On it in big letters is written.
LIFE IS FUN

Beamer I love the way you have summed up many years and put into a song about finding a love and then a break up. There is a big chunk of that song that tells some of my life story. I look forward to hearing it as a song.

Thank you TF for your kind comments.  I will like to thank you and everyone on here for helping enrich my life. TF your weekly posts have made  me more aware of the genre of Prog rock and how it incorperates a wider range of musical expression more  than I thought possible,.  It has  opened my mind to differant sounds. Also I have been introduced to a feast of exceptional guitarist on your  Flying fingers posts. Chordie Land is a place full of kindness and decency. The knowledge of the folk on here  and the generous way people share  and encourage each other shows me that there is still a good human spirit in this world.  Thank you Chordie.

Good choice Badeye.  Stevie was not only a top  musician he was a nice guy much loved by many New Zealanders, There are many stories of him helping musicians with their music and careers  once he got his life in order after his wild years. A young lady Stevie-Ray who works at the Bar where I meet Easybeat and few others for a beer was named after him  by her parents.  Stevie  visited New Zealand and fell in love with Janna Lapidus   a local girl from here in Lower Hutt,  Wellington. They were to be married. There was even talk - a lot of talk - of how he planned to move here; to kick back in New Zealand, possibly in a state of semi-retirement, maybe dividing his time between here and some annual European/American touring. She was only a teen model who worked with him in a New Zealand TV commercial. Despite their age differences and the fact they were from different countries , they made their relationship work. He reportedly turned over a new leaf and gave up on his hard partying lifestyle for her. He famously bought a sunburst Diplomat Strat-style guitar for Janna to learn how to play. She travelled and even moved in with him until the fatal helicopter crash killed him in 1990. In the last four years of his life a lot happened for Vaughan – he finally hit down with some incredible solo albums building on his years of playing as sideman and leader. Mitch Marsden a Kiwi Bluesman became a good  friend of Stevie Ray Vaughan; when Mitch  visited Texas at various times he would stay at Vaughan's house for months on end. Mitch told a reporter that Stevie was a down to earth guy who loved to jam with everyday folk and make music.

That is a very good poem EB . I think as more and more people around the world find life hard we will see more people rioting as they have in Paris..They are people who have found that the cost of living has got out of hand for them to survive..
While some new jobs are being created in the world economies, many are now in the low-paying sectors and are usually temporary. Corporate leaders and mainstream economists tell us that the rising unemployment figures represent short-term "adjustments" to powerful market-driven forces that are speeding the global economy in a new direction. They hold out the promise of an exciting new world of high-tech automated production, booming global commerce, and unprecedented material abundance. Well a simple person like me can’t believe that or see it happening. The role of humans as the most important factor of production is bound to diminish in the same way that the role of horses in agricultural production was first diminished and then eliminated by the introduction of tractors. In all three key employment sectors - agriculture, manufacturing, and services, machines are quickly replacing human labour and promise an economy of near automated production by the mid-decades of this century As the new generation of "smart" robots, armed with greater intelligence and flexibility, make their way to the market, manufacturers are far more likely to substitute them for workers because they are most cost effective. It is estimated each robot replaces four jobs in the economy, and if in constant use twenty-four hours a day, will pay for itself in just over one year.  The number of robots is expected to rise dramatically in the coming decades as thinking machines become far more intelligent, versatile, and flexible. Already, millions of workers have been permanently eliminated from the economic process, and whole work categories and job assignments have shrunk, been restructured, or disappeared. Global unemployment has now reached its highest level since the great depression of the 1930s. More  human beings are now unemployed or underemployed in the world. The numbers are likely to rise sharply in future years as millions of new entrants into the workforce find themselves without jobs. Sorry I better stop my raving.. My point is as people find it harder to pay their way, they are more likely to take to the streets and  riot.

Curt  I love your use of guitar and recorder.  Your lyrics and vocals work good.     Humans  often see what we want to see  Our  eyes sometimes only  see  what the mind is prepared to comprehend. Though I try not to be judgemental sometimes I find my perception of a person changes once I actually get to know them.

In tthe Best tradition of Folk music you are putting protest into your song Grah. I dont know much about whats happening in the Uk .It was interesting for me  talking to an 80 something year old, Brit the other day . He is visiting NZ and told me next election he is going to vote for the Official Monster Raving Loony Party. He said he has had enough of  all politicians in the UK including the party he supported for the last sixty years.
