Welcome too. This is the place to be, just look to the number of members. I think we are one of the fastest growing sites here, and it gets better if you know that the % of guitar players, compared to the rest, is not that high. How many people, on 100, will play an instrument? 5-10%? So as my friends here, told, you can learn more than you think.
I learned a lot since I became member, and remember: there are no stupid questions.

As my good friend Ken aka UYK wrote, I can add only this: feel free to ask what you want. We all started playing, some of us 30 years, others 3 weeks.
It gives a "feel good" feeling, reading what you wrote.
I am always interested in the person behind the nickname, like age, what kind of music do you play, or want to play, and what guitar(s) you use.

Well, there are some good sites, where you can find, combine different chords.
The site is
www.chordbook.com
or another good site to learn chords
www.all-guitar-chords.com
Me too, I am not patient, it has to work immediately, but I am afraid you have to be more patient if you play guitar. My system: if I am not in the mood, I don't play. If I am in an "in-between" mood, play. You don't need to practise for hours. When you start, as a beginner, you are better of playing 30 minutes in stead of trying to play 5 hours. I am not a pro, but I know a lot of chords AND I can use and play them. For me one of the best ways to play is:
- look for songs you know (if the song is to difficult, like chords as Bb or F#, you have an option here to diminish or augment these with 1 semitone, or 2, 3..)
- if you are able to play guitar, I learned most by "trying" to play-a-long with that song you put in your CD player.
I hope this helped.

Don't look at the title, it's just to have your attention.

What is this about?
---------------------
In fact quit simple, but also quit difficult to know, unless you have 5 times the same guitar.
I was playing a few minutes ago on an acoustic MARTIN D-1, probably their cheapest, AND this one had already a preamp on board. I prefer to play an acoustic guitar 100% pure, so no amps, but sometimes I play this using an amp. The small E string was broken, and still having a lot of, almost only Martin strings, I start to think about an acoustic guitar versus strings, after changing that string.
This Martin sounds a lot different than most Martins I have. Loud, clean, and maybe a little bit "metallic". I know that a lot of people ask what strings are the best. Well I don't know. This question is similar but also very different.
If you should have the opportunity to play the same guitar, but using different strings, like d'Addario or Martin, or even Gibson ACOUSTIC strings, all having the same size, will the result, the sound when you play be affected by the brand of strings you use? I have now a rich full sound, using these Martin strings (size 052" for the big E, followed by a 045"....) and the sound I can get using another brand, same size?
I usually prefer lighter strings.
I just wanted to know if there is a lot of difference, using different brands.
Thanks a lot

Right or left, play it loud your guitar

I tried it first on my name of course, then a few others, in this case my bro Roger Guppy.
I give you the links, it took me quit a while to find them so
- www.arrak.fi/en/ag This is one of the best.
you can set up the numbers of results (my case=500) and choosing if you want your anagram expand to 3 and more words.
I look first with 2 words, but these results are very limited, and my number of words is 3.
The results are amazing and funny.
ROGER GUPPY = GREGORY PUP on ARRAK (a finish site) search: 500  number of words 2 (using 3, gives a lot more results.
1 last thing: write the name without a "space" between the names.
another nice one is
Kurt Cobain = Bianco Kurt.
The Rolling Stones = the strolling nose
The Beatles = The Sea Belt
HAVE FUN.

All news I know is from the papers and some news on TV.
What does America think about Michael Jackson?
I think that due to his "education?", and missing the warmth and protection of a family, he ended up like this. I am even convinced that he did NOT realise what he was doing, being a kid himself. A rich, spoiled kid, even with a quit good character. How much money did he spend to others?
I can't talk or discuss about guilty or not. I just know that parents BEING AWARE of his behaviour, didn't mind to leave their children at his house, to be back years later having a piece of the cake.
How is justice working in the USA: justice for the poor AND justice for the rich?
It fascinates me since long, the law, lawyers, prosecutors. Can some people give me an opinion?

GO AND WATCH TO SEE THE BEATLES VERSION

www.dvorak.org/blog/?p=15165

I found this by COINCIDENCE. I don't know, how they did it, but you will be able to hear the song STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN by THE BEATLES. I think they took look-a-likes OR the RUTLES
Titled Suppose it was The Beatles Who wrote this song.
I was SPEACHLESS.
GO ASAP to that site.
Giving a quote is difficult, but Jesus, HOW CAN THEY manage, or make this.
Give your opinion please.
Sometimes you find FANTASTIC material, don't ask me how I found this, I clicked on a lot of names. It just started while looking: WHO WROTE WHAT in their songs. Wasn't it like this: they all signed together= Lennon - McCartney, we also know that "sir" Paul blessed us with yesterday.
On the other hand, one of the most beautiful songs is IMAGINE.

Keep up your head when you sing

1) What's the difference between a fiddle and a violin ?
Who cares - neither one's a guitar.
2) Did you hear about the guitarist who was in tune ?
Neither did I.
3) How many guitar players does it take to cover a Stevie Ray Vaughn tune ?
Evidently all of them.
4) What's the difference between an oboe and an onion?
No one cries when you chop up an oboe.
5) What do a vacuum cleaner and an electric guitar have in common ?
Both suck when you plug them in.
6) How is an orgasm like a drum solo?
You can tell it's coming but there's no way to stop it.
7) What's the difference between a dead snake in the road and a dead drummer in the road?
Skid marks in front of the snake.
8) A comes into the bar, but the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor and sends him out. Then the bartender notices a B-flat hiding at the end of the bar and shouts, "Get out now. You're the seventh minor I've found in this bar tonight."
9) What do you call someone who hangs around with musicians?
A drummer. (ONE OF MY FAVOURITES)
10) "Hey buddy, how late does the band play?"
"Oh, about a half a beat behind the drummer."
11) How can you tell when a drummer is at your door?
The knock gets faster.

So dear chordians, we had already almost similar topics, but the last 6 months: nothing.
Keep on thinking, surfing and writing

I have an ugly green Fender Telecaster, called CALIFORNIA BEACH. It is a reissue of a 1952 Telecaster, and they used the same colour as on the cars in that period.
The serie had also a 1957 California Beach Stratocaster Custom Shop, colour Sunset Orange.
The second Fender Stratocaster reissue custom shop 1962, catalina blue.
So Fender produced these guitars only for the European market.
- Fender Telecaster California Beach, custom shop, reissue 1952, in a hard to describe green colour
- Fender Stratocaster California Beach, custom shop, 1957 & 1962 reissue.

Why were these models only for the European Market? They were not cheap at all, and because they made only 2000 copies, she's completely sold out. The Telecaster I have is fantastic, except for the neck: my hands are too small.
Are there in the USA, guitars, FENDER, GIBSON only available in the USA???
Last item: I had the luck to buy on ebay, 3 different PRS guitars, one S-S-S (like Fender, but Fralin pick-ups, domino shaped.), another had a S-S-H configuration, and the 3th H-S-H. Except for one, they were only produced between 1990 & 1992. I looked since months so many times, but you don't find them no more.
Is there a, or more "chordians" who can give me more information?

Stagg: I never tried an acoustic, but I did try a telecaster model. Having 3 amps: a Fender Cybertwin, a Marshall Valvestate, and an acoustic Marshall AS100D, I use a lot that acoustic amp.
I compared it with my telecaster, and the difference was amazing.
But if you start using effects, here on my Cybertwin, it was more difficult to hear a difference. The more effects, the less you hear a difference.

What happened to
- the OSMONDS? Are they still active as musicians, or did they earn so much that they can spend most of their time, to be busy with all the kids?
- the PARTRIDGE family?
- the JACKSON 5, or 4, or 6? Last fact I heard was that they gave a lot of shows WITH Michael, who tried to give his brothers the chance to earn a lot $$$$$ again?

What is needed to perform a song like SUGAR, SUGAR by the ARCHIES on myspace or youtube?
I have that song on my list, playing it acoustic and I want to place it on these sites.
I record it and I place it on myspace. Will I have "legal" issues or problems? Do I need to pay an amount of money, or will they leave it like that?

I always wanted to know how the money from ALBUMS is divided.
The model I use is a "classical" band, like the Rolling Stones.
MUSIC and LYRICS by Jagger/Richards.
Performed by the Rolling Stones.
But how much money is earned?
The RECORD company, invest a lot of money in a Band. So I try to use numbers.
ALBUM/CD sale: 10.000.000$.
- Company: how much goes in their pockets?
- The BAND: not talking about music and lyrics, what will they earn?
- Songwriter & Lyric writer: what is their share, do they get both the same%?
It looks maybe silly, but chordie is my "last resort" to have more information.
A SECOND QUESTION
- I write a lot of songs = Music and Lyrics. The album sells 10.000.000 copies. I am not a member, I just wrote some songs. If you as songwriter see the dazzling sale, I am pretty sure that working in a factory, is finished.
I try to create a normal situation: a decent contract, without little letters.

Shanden, what I do sometimes is copy some songs and paste them in WORD.
I did print a great amount of songs. You will notice sometimes that in some songs, like a song
A     C    D   C
lalalalalalalallala should have a G in stead of the C at the end.
What they shutdown more are "download sites" for music. I use WinMx and Limewire. I paid 40$ a few years ago, to have these programs, and even then, I am more focused on bootlegs.
The Rolling Stones have a lot of those.

Well arkady, I am playing so long, and changing strings is still very difficult.
I read on the internet, that they sell tuning machines. You have to put your string in that hole, put the tuner device on the knob to tune, you push on a button and the first string will be the E.
Who knows about this device?

WAW, all these answers. So, in fact BLUE (BLUEGRASS) has not a direct "link"with BLUES?
I tried to name some USA styles.
- Country & Western.
- Bluegrass.
- Blues
- Rock & Roll
- Gospel
- Jazz
- Rockabilly.
- R&B (I hate this word, used a lot AND covering a lot of songs,  Béyoncée, Whitney Houston.....)
- Rap (C rap). There are some great "rap" songs, it has again Afro-American roots and some songs are real great. But "the performers", HOW CAN THEY STILL STAND RIGHT, WITH ALL THE GOLD THEY WEAR?
In Chicago, busy to find route 66, we ended up somewhere, I opened the roof (When I'm travelling in the USA, I always rent a Mustang Convertible), my EX-girlfriend replaced my crouches, and the rear window: broken. I must admit that there were a few strange individuals. I have a tiny golden chain with a small guitar. They asked me if I was a musician, and of course I said yes. I also told them that I was  BIG in Europe, and that I was looking in the USA, to see what I had to do to be successful there. Those people arranged everything, for that broken window, they even called the cops. The policeman never stepped out of his car, and he asked me if I knew where I was. Answer= Chicago, correction by the cop, yes in CHICAGO = the worst and most dangerous place in Chicago. What I saw there, it was also a gas station, was, seen through European eyes, unbelievable, men and/or women driving in Mercedes, Ferrari, Porsche.....and all these people were phoning and listening to rap, really loud.
If I wrote down what I heard, you would hear only "beeps." I never saw this in my life. A police car, with 1 person, and his story. I still can't believe it "most dangerous area in Chicago." I think he needed to lie, it was a mysterious place, but I was received and treated as a king. Are there other places like this? I also witnessed a few arrestations, and that, you won't find either in Europe. 7 cops, to arrest 1 man, not so much different with movies. Violent, aggressive and all Afro-Americans.
So far, the rap.

I posted a topic about a Belgium group, titled listen to this please.
We all know a lot of songs, more specific ENGLISH/AMERICAN SONGS.
But what about other songs, songs from YOUR country?
Country is a big word, even the USA has 50 states, with their own structure, culture. Example: the Amish people: do they have songs?
Jiddish: Are there songs in the Jewish community (worldwide, because they live in a lot of countries.
What do we know about French songs, or French-Canadian songs?
Are there typical Canadian songs. Is there a lot of difference between a British - Canadian song compared to British - USA ?
This topic can be really interesting, to see and compare cultures, we have in fact only one universal language: MUSIC. LEAVE the lyrics as they are.

2007: a band called "FIXKES" had a huge hit in Belgium, and the song is great.
Fixkes - kvraagetaan. On youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyJ6BmkS … re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GvMrsDN … re=related
This link should give you two songs, from a band coming from nowhere to one of the biggest bands.
I hope this will be a nice topic,

This song is performed in my language: DUTCH.
Everybody, in Belgium talked about this song, and me? well, I knew that this song was "the talk of the town", it was in the ULTRA HIT PARADE for about 36 weeks.
As far as I listened it for the first time, only a few weeks ago, on the radio in my car, yep, Arkady, a lot of things in my life changed since I stopped working, before stopping, I listened at least to 10 CD's in my car, driving 400 miles a week, I have still the same CD's as 4 months ago. I also hate to change them because the position to change them (bending a little bit, only for 3-4 minutes), gives me too much pain, so I heard that song only once, and trying to find more, well I detected a few songs on youtube.
My opinion: THIS SONG could be a huge hit, with English lyrics. It is a mix of a few styles, ballad, some kind of "rap"... and if you just listen to the song and forget about the lyrics, it is for me one of the best songs I heard for years. It should be very interesting to try and get the rights to use the music using English lyrics.
That's why this topic is called listen please.
We have some fantastic artists here. Another option for us, here in Belgium is starting to use FRENCH lyrics. This country is a REAL JOKE, we went to vote (IT IS not a right here, but a law that every person older than 18 has to vote) in juin 2007, and the big problem is we have 2 languages here (60% Flemish = dutch, 40% French, and I forgot the third language : GERMAN).
So for a "federal government" if a dutch political party is elected, the French "sister party" has to be in the federal government too, how small she is. It took almost 7 months to have an INTERIM government. THIS IS BELGIUM. Probably JACQUES BREL rings a little bell, he is Flemish, but started singing in French, resulting in the fact that France consider him as a French artist.
I am really glad and happy that you listened to that song. I hope that a lot more chordians will do this. It brings me even on an idea, to create a topic where you can use a link to listen to songs in another language, like Irish, Scottish, and other songs. This idea is 50% based on our conversation, so we try to do this one together, like Arkady+Gitaardocphil are interested in..
