A few weeks ago, I bought the (fantastic) new album, ROBERT PLANT & ALISSON KRAUSE.
This is a kind of turning point in my "music knowledge", a mix of typical PLANT music combined with what is called bluegrass. Probably, almost sure, this album represents BLUEGRASS, but definitely not the real BLUEGRASS.
Thanks to chordie and the chordians, I am so happy to learn a lot about American Music, different styles and so much more.
So, blues is a typical US phenomenon, neglecting the fact that it was brought to Europe, by mostly sailors, and discovered here by some famous groups, like The Animals, The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, who send the blues back to the USA, where the roots were, used originally by Afro-Americans. Is it correct if I write that this music, also ROCK & ROLL, was not accepted at all in the 50ties, because it was Afro-American and in those years there were still big problems between ethnic groups.
- Can we consider Bluegrass as Folk music?
- Are the Bluegrass roots coming from Europe? (Ireland, Scotland?), or is it a different phenomenon.
- When, can we speak about Bluegrass, and is there a similarity between Country & Western, or is this again another music style?

Martin, being the king of the FLATTOPS has also a lot of O or OOO guitars.
Which guitar is the best to play, and what guitar is better, talking about sound?
Is it similar to a GIBSON HUMMINGBIRD or DOVE versus A GIBSON SJ-200?

Hello Cytania.
About too many relics (in particular Fender Stratocaster) I wrote once a topic. How to find a decent guitar in the FENDER FOREST.
I remember when I went to school (me being 14-17 years old), that there was, at that time, the biggest guitar store in Belgium, and we walked in that store, looking around (they let us play maybe once, I was also not playing at that time).
They had a lot of acoustic guitars, but when you are 15 years old, you are more interessed in an electric guitar.
The choice was very simple back in 1970-1971: you had a FENDER STRATOCASTER, and a Fender TELECASTER (a lot cheaper compared to a Stratocaster), in different colours, and the second was the GIBSON. You could choose a Gibson Les Paul Standard, a Custom, and an SG.
If you go to a guitar store now: you are not longer able to count the different Fenders, not speaking about the Mexican Fenders. You have as starter, the good old classic Fender Stratocaster, once you spotted this guitar, the problems start. I am a proud owner of an original Fender Strat made in 1964, and there are moments, having so many guitars, that this 25.000$ fender should be sold, and buy a relic, or a Artist Model. I really don't understand Fender: they produce a lot in Mexico 'are they better???? and in the "fender department " you find RELICS, HIGHWAY series, TRIBUTE Fenders: CLAPTON, JEFF BECK, KNOPFLER, SRV.. How can a guitar lover, let's say a Fender lover choose and buy? You need almost a week to try all these Fenders.
Isn't it TOO complicated? What is in theory the better, or best Fender?
First they also neglected the acoustic market, and an acoustic Fender was CHEAP. BUT they start more and more producing acoustics, resulting in a price, becominh higher and higher.

Ovation puts every year a kind of COLLECTORS guitar in limited edition.
They started, if I am not wrong, about 30 years.
I had an Ovation,
COLLECTOR'S SERIES Collector's Series
Collector serie made in 1997. The headstock looked strong like a Spanish Guitar giving the opportunity (I THINK) to put nylon strings too.
There was a problem with this guitar, and she has been 5 times back to the store to fix the problem. She played pretty good, but an ovation for me is a guitar YOU NEED TO PLUG IN AN ACOUSTIC AMP, when you play a, ovation without an amp, the sound is definitely weak.
About Martin: I have an electro-acoustic dreadnought, the sound is "fantastic", AND if you don't use an amp, you still have an "unplugged" sound, a lot better than an ovation.
My personal choice is a MARTIN D1 , (AFFORDABLE), but I just read that this model is discontinued. I also believe that this Martin D-1, is probably the only Martin, using "laminated" sides. TOP: Solid Sitka Spruce          BACK MATERIAL: Solid Genuine Mahogany
SIDE MATERIAL: Laminated Mahogany. Overall rating:  Product Rating: 5.0=best rating, 5 stars.
My Martin D-1 has electronics on board, and with or without an amp, this beauty plays real loud.
I tried to compare prices: at www.musiccenterinc.com 889$ (probably without the pre-amp, to play electro-acoustic. I just found an acoustic guitar, the name of the brand is MATON.
Are there chordians who are familiar with this MATON? It is not a very cheap guitar, and they produce different guitars.

Y

YAMATO-KOTO or WA-GON — Plucked Strings. Japan. This is essentially a national instrument and was originally made from six hunting bows tied side by side. The sounding-board is cut at one end by six long notches to perpetuate the idea of the bows. Through these notches pass six heavy cords from underneath the body. To the cords are attached the six strings, which are stretched over six movable bridges to the opposite end where they are fastened on the under side. The melody is plucked with the little finger of the right hand, a drone accompaniment being played with the finger tips and a slip of hard material. Despite the crude construction, the tone is sweet and mellow.

REAL SIMPLE.
I write a phrase, the next person uses the last word to make a new phrase.

I love to play guitar.
next: guitars are made from wood
next: wood is used in ships.

So I start here.

I DON'T HAVE A GIRLFRIEND.

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a guitar man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
But ended up in a hospital.

But I hope you still know my name
It is gitaar who's here again.

So as you can see: I AM BACK IN BUSINESS.
Like it always is: you know when you go to a hospital, nut you never now when you GET BACK, GET BACK to where you once belonged. When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way. And the most typical, being a DOC is now,  these days are gone, I'm not so self assured. You should be not so self assured when problems are added on other existing problems giving you a high, large and dramatic stash.

HEALTH REPORT.
-------------------
1) They detected extra lesions higher in my back. I don't know why this wasn't detected 5-7 years ago. Probably is the reason, that they focused more on my my 4th Lumbar Vertebra, and here in Belgium, they are not allowed to do more than ONE MRI-scan (the famous scan in the basement where you have to give every metal). I was aware of extra problems but here I was surprised, in a bad way.
2) They also looked in my stomach and oesophagus where they found "ulcers" (a lot, bleeding when touching them). A lot of people have this problem, and you have 4 degrees. I  II  III  IV. I have a IV, which is not so common, and thinking about all this: I should be DEAD. I almost didn't eat the last weeks and you can't imagine how "scared" I was. Eating to late resulted, when I was sleeping, in an acid taste followed by vomiting. THIS IS HORRIBLE, there are a few Rock stars, like BONHAM (Zeppelin), Jim Morisson, Keith Moon, who died of a similar problem: vomiting without waking up, and dead because it enters in your airways.
I put this in a topic, necessary or not, to tell about problems occurring and, I repeat, this is typical for MD's, waiting until it is starting to be that bad, that you play with your life.
TRY to react faster, and don't do what I did, going to a hospital at the last minute.
Please feel free to ask questions, remarks, comment. I am who I am.
THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR CONCERN.

What is your opinion about artists, having a huge hit, but refusing to sing their big hit, just because they hate to perform that song, like RADIOHEAD and CREEP.
For me, hating their song or not, it is DISRESPECTING the people who buyed the song, giving the Band the opportunity to become very big.

I can understand the band singing that song for the 87.321 time, but IT IS NOT DONE.

About the womp...., they say it is a kind of replacement of a drum.
Another famous "intermezzo" was Strangers in the night, by Sinatra: doo-be-doo-be-doo. They tell that he hated this song.

James, the nurses: NO PROBLEM. Every little or big piece of my broken body still works. But thanks to all of you, and I hope (to become as before, I can forget that one) that they just can tell me that there is no "spectacular change."And if yes, I have to face facts again, which is very difficult because I can't accept what I have, even trying to. I can only adapt.
My thoughts will be with you all.

IS THERE A CHORDIAN AMONG US WHO HAD THE MONEY AND LUCK TO SEE THE CONCERT OF LED ZEPPELIN????
I saw it on the news, PAGE's HAIR WAS REALLY GREY, but I had the impression that the MAGIC was still present, so I am hoping they will do it again and start touring like all the old dinosaurs, PINK FLOYD, THE EAGLES, even THE STONES (again number 1 in FORBES)

No, like I told you. I have even a name and password to log in.
Downloading bootlegs, you can't find is not harming too. I swear, I have a pretty collection, like live performances in DANMARK by John Fogerty. It is a real challenge, and it can take a very long time to get them.

I would give anything to have a song starting like
WOMP - BOMP - A - LOOM - OP - A - WOMP - BAM - BOOM. TUTTI FRUTTI

You have to admit my beloved chordians: THIS IS A HELL OF A START of a song.
Are there other songs with such an amazing and fantastic start?

If you read about guitars, and specific on the PRS site, you can choose between a PRS custom 22 and a PRS custom 24, so 1 guitar has 22 frets, the other 24 frets.
SOME QUESTIONS:
- Are there guitars having MORE than 24 frets, like 26
- What is the difference between 22 frets and 24 frets, besides the fact that you can reach higher if you have 24 frets?

I didn't want to inform all chordians, but it feels better to tell it anyway.
I am in HOSPITAL, for 3-4 days, observation, still a sequel of my car crash.
You will see it when I'm back.
In the mean time, have fun, I hope to see some more RIP inscriptions, FUN, THINK (you need some thinking here) & POST.
I leave here in the afternoon.
I am used to hospitals. As they should say: DON'T DO THIS AT HOME, parking your car around a tree with a 60 miles/hour speed.

UYK, I posted the same topic, but before I closed it, there was an urgent "email", result: lost the topic. I will see if the same topic is on another place.

Badeye, your question is even more complicated.
WHAT ABOUT DOWNLOADS?
CHANGE OR ADD DOWNLOADS TOO (I 've paid for it.)

BOUGHT (Most on line)
- 1) The Best of Norman Greenbaum: The Man Who wrote the "immortal classic: Spirits in the sky. He wrote in fact more FOLK MUSIC, and I didn't hear MORE songs written in the same style as SPIRITS in the sky. Best way to listen: www.amazon.com where you see a track list and you can listen for 30 seconds)
- 2) Pickin' on Led Zeppelin: Famous Led Zeppelin Songs, interpreted by FINGER PICKERS.
- 3) in 2006: Bootleg series BOB DYLAN
DOWNLOAD
- 1) Billboard Top 100 (1960 - 1969, 1970-1979, 1980-1986
- 2) SHOCKING BLUE (BIG HIT: VENUS)

For some of us, it is such a long time ago, using, in my case, a turn table, where the cover was the speaker at the same time, it can be a nasty question But in my first 5 ALBUMS, I think that the very first album was:
- THE BEST OF THE BEE GEES, a double with an orange sleeve
- ELECTRIC WARRIOR by T-Rex
- ALADDIN SANE by David Bowie
There must be others I had earlier than Bowie, but I can't remember them now

This situation reminds me really strong to VAN HALEN: David Lee Roth Am I dreaming or is it correct that they try to play again with David Lee Roth?

DID YOU KNOW THAT AC/DC, more specific the "YOUNG" brothers, have an older brother, who formed with VANDA (original Dutch=Vandenbergh) the EASYBEATS, having world fame with the song FRIDAY ON MY MIND, and a minor hit with HELLO HOW ARE YOU?

Badeye, about albums, the real "vinyl", I don't know what I still have, because when I bought my house, the owner was a Rolling Stone freak, he sold me +-50 albums, all first edition, WHO, STONES, KINKS, do you know a site to evaluate them?
