could be to much pressure on light gauge strings I have a kyser too I play a strat and this has happened to me there are several capos that may suit you better I seen on from a topic on Chordie called G7 pro it sells for around 35 dollars or so I think if you get one that has adjustable pressure it may eliminate the tonal problems, thats one idea another possibility is your neck may need adjustment ![]()

Two strings in one bag is no hassle when I change strings I take them all off and polish the guitar then I just take the 1st bag with the low E and G and put it in with the peg and leave them to the side I repeat this till all the strings are set in the holes then the rest is easy just start with the low E measure cut and wind repeat till all strings are strung then tune. ![]()

Re: wanted, score for these chords (10 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
there is more then just adding the notes to the chords you have to also consider rests and key signatures for example in the key of G you would place a # sign on the top line and you must also indicate the time signature 4/4 3/4 not to mention codas notating music requires more then just chords for example a minor chord has a b3rd (flat third) so keep this in mind
i have a music manuscript book,it has the music bars to write in the notes for each of the chords i listed,i need the position of the notes on the bar lines to put the music to my songs, thanks

Phill I don't know if its strange but I put a strip of white tape and label each track and all future recordings are recorded in the same order if I do add a mandolin or harmonica that will be at the end the tape is easy to peel off and any adhesive cleans up nicely with a mild dish soap I also keep my DP covered with a towel when not in use to protect it from dust the same with my keyboards and Laptop ![]()

Re: Guitar going out of tune... (16 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Pete and dino make a good point if the strings are not wound around the pegs correct they will slip and if the tuning pegs are loose the same thing could happen I agree with putting a new set on and cut the string about an inch past the post its going too then put the string thru the hole about a half inch and make a bend in the opposite direction you wind it to tighten them keep the wind below the bend with some tension till it tightens up enough to let go this will help with them slipping after they stretch out a little ![]()

I use Martin silk n steel exclusively on my acoustic electric Hohner but they are not lights the low E is.047 up to the high E which is.0115 they usually last a month or less if I am using it on gigs I wipe them down after each use to keep them sounding nice longer ![]()

I do play harmonica and its not uncommon to bend notes when you breath in you can lower notes a half step but you cannot raise them without a chromatic harp and the button on the end. ![]()

Re: Oldies Progression: G em C D (10 replies, posted in Music theory)
Way to go Jack you can also use a arpeggio stum that is picking each string in the chord up and down for a different effect
Hello,
I got it pat down after a week. Currently using the advise of 4 beats(1 bar) and 8 beats(2 bars) and it is working pretty well. Just have to work on the vocals
Thanks everyone for the help and encouragement.
Yup, there are lots of songs that use the oldies progression. My next song could be Earth's Angel by The Penguins.
Regards,
Jack

Re: Electric Guitar Volume (18 replies, posted in Electric)
It depends on what your trying to express musically if your playing death metal by all means turn the guitar all the way and crank the amp till the speakers rattle.Music is an expression of your emotions sometimes they are quiet and subdued other times they are uplifting and happy to be a good musician you have to control the volume not only with the volume knobs but with your pick this is why in sheet music they have crescendos and decrescendos and words in Italian like forte(loud) mezzo forte(medium) and pianimisio(quiet) and the same reason they have three pedals on a piano one to dampen one to sustain and one to sustain briefly.A good rule is if your singing don't drown out your vocal because your selling the lyrics and your voice not how loud your guitar can be if your playing with other musicians blend in once you master control over the volume you are playing at you will find much more enjoyment in music. ![]()

Re: stinken B chord (11 replies, posted in Music theory)
I just bar the 2nd fret with my 1st and use my pinky instead of my 3rd finger on the 4th fret I do this for all B shaped bar chords its easier on the hand or just play a Bar F 1st fret position on the 7th fret if your progression is in the middle of the neck ![]()

That's another way of counting it I would count it 1 2 3 4/ 2234 the 2 indicates the measure or bar you don't need to count to 8
Russell_Harding wrote:This song's progression is a standard do wop G Em C D on the verses each chord is 4 beats (1bar) but on the bridge its 8 beats(2bars) you can use a down strum for each beat to keep your time better you can also substitute a Am for the C because it is the relative minor of the chord
Thanks, does it mean:
G x 8 Em x 8

dino the set that is on is one of the sets Zurf sent me actually they are lighter then standard but they don't sound any different I don't know about painting it I sort of like the way it looks now what I like most is the ease of fretting and the intonation all the way up the fretboard
Big strings on that puppy! I am guessing you will paint it some day.

Re: Old Silvertone new pickups (10 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
That's what I paid for it at a music store it was in tough shape needing major surgery the strings were over 1/4 inch off the fretboard the front pickup was dead and the wiring was shorting out the only way to lower the strings was to remove 1/4 " of wood around the bridge and crank the neck screw to straighten out the bow.I replaced the pickups and installed a new wiring harness Zurf sent me a couple sets of light gauge bass stings and that helped out quite a bit it frets really nice I still need to find the other knob for the tone control its around somewhere ![]()

The pickups on my Silvertone bass gave up the ghost so a few weeks ago I ordered 2 Fender jazz bass pickups and wiring they arrived this morning and I mounted them and wired the harness and was pleasantly rewarded with everything working the first time the sound is excellent and I reworked the neck adjustment and the intonation is dead on the strings are very low which makes it a dream to play no popping or buzzing just great tone and bottom I did sand the pick guard and spray painted it flat black which looks great with the deep purple finish and chrome hardware so now I can move ahead with my new recording projects ![]()
