That is really strange - it works for me. I just tried it again

Both renditions are excellent.  One of my fave songs - King of the road !
Way to go Jan - keep 'em coming

That is weird.... I move songs all the time.
I just did it a minute ago to make sure it was working.

I just check the box of the song I want to move, then go to the little plus sign with arrows that says move song.   choose the destination songbook, click OK and volia! it is moved.

I have no problem whatsoever doing it.

are you trying to move a song from one song book to someone else's?  that might be a problem. I think it has to be from one of your own songbooks to another of your own songbook !

Heffreis

welcome to chordie
I am sure it was deleted.
That happens to me when deleting and adding.
One time I didn't think it was adding it, so I kept doing it.  In the end I had about 50 copies of it.
Once you hit the delete or add button - just close it out and re- enter your song book - it should be added or subtracted.

Beamer- left a message on cloud.
I am looking forward to the final version.  It is always amazing how a song can transform by different genres.

My daughter was just in Seattle - she lived there for a while - worked as a PA in some orthopedic surgical place.
Her husband was stationed there in the AF. so they went back to visit. I loved the area when I went out there.
His family lives in Philomath Or. (Near Corvallis)
Are you from around there ?

I don't know if you follow baseball - but Oregon State ( Which he played for in college) is in the College Baseball World series - I'm enjoying watching them!

Thanks gain for the cover, buddy !
Jim

Enjoy the summer- it was gorgeous when I went there.

It is a shame - way too young.  The history of his life is a great read.  I don't remember his brother being shot on stage - that must've been unimaginally awful.

It was interesting to read about their Dad who was a country songwriter influenced them and they ended up heavy metal.

At least now he can re-join the band with his brother and the others we have lost.  Always a sad day to hear of these losses.

Thanks for the post Beamer

Jan

Once again your marvelous voice is terrific.
I do believe, as you said, that it would be much better if you could slow it down - the tempo you play at seems to happy for that song.

With that being said - it still was an excellent rendition - thanks so much for sharing.

TF

That, in my opinion was your best find yet!

That was incredible. I loved the velocity of his play  and at about the 3:55 mark his working of the strings made that guitar talk !

Friday night I went to a Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams concert at Bethel Woods ( site of the original Woodstock)  and Steve Earle covered Hey Joe, he played it very well and with great passion which sounded great, but the guitar work on this piece was a stratosphere above it.

It is unimaginable the practice hours that it takes to play like that.  LeBron James gets gazillions of dollars because he is a " special talent" in basketball, Joscho Stephan is just as unique in my opinion - a very special talent.

Thanks for sharing this TF

The making of a Goodall guitar was fascinating.

I went to locate a dealer -  the cheapest guitar made by Goodall  was  $6,700

That is way out of my pay scale for a guitar for the level of playing I am capable of. If I was a good guitarist - I would definately consider something like this - what a beautiful sound and high quality.

Thanks for sharing.

hahahaha

Flatery will get you everywhere !

Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement.

Peatle, I have never tried to reach out to anyone - I wouldn't even know how to begin. I think you have to be  a member of the songwriteres guild or something before they will even look at a song.  I was watching a video on the history of Country music and Kris Kristopherson  was working  as a janitor at San Quentin and kept giving Johnny Cash's manager copies of his songs.  Finally Johnny recorded one of them - "Sunday Morning Coming Down"  - which became the beginning of Kristopherson's career.  I don't think that work anymore in today's world.

Bill

Nah, I don't have a book.  I really wouldn't even want much more than free tickets to a concert if a major star ever recorded a song of mine - I'm really not writing for any hope of monetary reward. ( Not that I wouldn't take some $ if they offered, but definitely not my main concern)

Jan and EB - TY

The "big name performers" that record my songs are pretty much right here on Chordie - and that is fine by me !! ( And thanks to all that have done so)

Thanks again to all

This post is a resurrection of an old one.  I had written this quite a while ago, Graham did an awesome cover of it. However recently- one of my old college buddies has been going through hell as one of his family members  got into opioid use.  I went back and added a verse, bc at the time I wote the original, I really had no clue to the magnitude of Opioid misuse in our country. I would not wish this junk on my worst enemy..... it is horrible.

The last verse is the add on.....

GirlfriendsJim Kenyon

[Em]Oh I’ve got a little girlfriend in control of my brain

You might know her , her name’s Cocaine

[Am] She makes me feel like a shining knight

[Em] with me every moment, day and night

[B7] blinded by the power that she brings, oh

[Em]for her pleasure, I’d do [B7]any[Em]thing

.

[Em]I’ve got another girlfriend she’s a deadly sin

Schools and Prisons call her Heroin

[Am]She’s always around, easy to find

[Em] Always willing to blow your mind

[B7] blinded by the power that she brings,oh

[Em] for her pleasure, I’d do [B7]any[Em]thing

.

Chorus

[Am] I can’t help myself, I’m outta control

[Em] falling deeper into the black hole

[B7]she’ll make you believe you’ll never die

[Em]make you keep on looking for that[B7] higher[Em] high

.

[Em]The last girlfriend I had , was a living death

went by the name of Krystal Meth

[Am]soothes your heart like a summer breeze

[Em]then she crushes your soul like a cruel disease

[B7] blinded by the power that she brings, oh

[Em] , for her pleasure, I’d do [B7]any[Em]thing

.

(Guitar solo) [Em] [Am] [Em] [B7] [Am] [Em]

.

[Em] oh now I got a new mistress that fills a void,

a deadly little vamp called Miss Opioid

[Am] she promises to take all your pains away

[Em] then she destroys your family in every way

[B7] blinded by the power that she brings, oh

[Em] , for her pleasure, I’d do [B7]any[Em]thing

Chorus

[Am] I can’t help myself, I’m outta control

[Em] falling deeper into the black hole

[B7]she’ll make you believe that you’ll never die

[Em]make you keep on looking for that[B7] higher[Em] high
