u kidding!  I would love to have my guitar signed by some wone who counts! It would be clear coated and then put on a wall! Of course it would have to be a legend to count.  B.B. King, Paige, Kirk,, etc.

Therein lies the rub: You get a hero to sign that guitar and to preserve the sig you dont use the guitar again. I would rather have them sign a pic so I can still use the guitar.

I can never find a garage sale ax to play with :-(

I have a friend who's wife found a Strat copy for 25 bucks at a garage sale. I just re-strung it for him in hopes I can get him to play. My neighbor found a Behringer 75 watt modeling amp at a garage sale for 50 bucks! I looked and looked but no luck...Until I stumbled upon my Behringer at GC for 60 bucks.

Funny thing about my Behringer is I've seen a bunch of reviews about how it does not stay in tune. When I got it I found out the tone was not working. I opened it up and found that the knob was not secured (possibly the reason it was sold in the condition it is in: Very good). I secured it and the knob works. While I did that I tightened the bridge and the tuning machines. I have no problems with it going out of tune now.

I think if you find a "bad" guitar a little TLC will get it working fine.

Sorry guys I was wrong...My Behringer set up is this: 5) Full humbucker 4) second hum coil and middle single coil 3) middle coil only. 2) middle coil and neck coil 1) neck coil only.

How do you play that without going over the top? Not only do you go over the top but you must mute the SECOND string with the thumb!

It has always been my understanding that a chord is three (or more) different harmonic notes played in unision. The above is comprised of just G and D so can it be classed as a chord?

I say no!

(Mind you my chord finder says it is a Power Chord G5,  but I still say no).

wink lol smile Roger

OK....first of all Mr. Guppy (and I say this in the utmost humor and with a touch of tongue in cheek): I am a freaking beginner and still have issues with the difference betwixt a chord and a cord! To me it is a chord! If it is not then...It is still a chord to me! I know it is s chord because it comes from the "official" Alice in Chains song book I have and the song was written by Mr. Layne Staley (may God Rest His Tortured soul [ I had to say that for the AIC crazies. I liked Staley and all that but Cantrell gets no credit due to him...] himself) so it has to be real!

Secondly: You are most likely right. That is how it is tabbed din the aforementioned book but closer inspection shows NC above the note so...

IT IS NOT A CHORD!

Maybe?

I see what neo is saying. It is a matter of personal ethics. Neo act s a certain way and it bothers him when others do not. Especially when Neo knows the full story behind this guitar. He wants to call the guy out but knows it wont make one bit of difference to this nitwit. Or to many others for that matter.

I feel you Neo. I would want to b&^% slap this nitwit myself.

I can do that, index on the 6th string just touching the 5th to mute it, ring finger on the 2nd, pinky on the 1st. No thumb involved.

Show off! It looks cooler the other way though!

I must say; I worked through it and I think it was meant to be done the way you say as it goes into an open D. The third finger would just rest as you bring the first and second down to their respective strings.

But it is still cooler may way!

If the switch is a five position it should turn the humbucker in to a single coil if it is in the second position. The good thing about finding a cheap guitar is you can spend some money and make it real good. I am thinking if putting a single-coil sized seymour duncan humbucker in the neck position on my Behringer.

I wondered why any one would want to wrap their nails to play the guitar. I am a biter and for years have kept my nails short but never bit the nails so short that I did not have any white....Until I started playing. When I started playing I found that the first, middle and ring finger nails were coming off the nail bed. As most of you know it is painful until the nail bed heals. When the nail bed healed I would shorten the nail more and wait until it "delaminanted" again then shorten it again. They are now short enough (on my fretting hand, my strumming/picking hand has nails that are still "regular") that I can fret without them getting in the way and they no longer "delaminate" from the nail bed.

I can see, though, why one would want to strengthen the nails if one want so to have nice nails.

Nice informative video.

The problem I see (in some response to Zurf's post above) is that whether or not they had protocols there is the RIGHT thing to do. Paterno did not do the right thing.

I have always admired Paterno for what I thought were his ethics. I find out he is not much different than many others in the college game. I am amazed and angry that he did not report this to the police. he has an OBLIGATION to do so. I am angry that he did not tell the witness to go directly to the police. Again there was an obligation.

In work that involves contact with children or underage teens there is a certain expectation that certain people MUST act upon what they may see or hear. As a paramedic I am obligated to report possible child abuse and, even elderly abuse. As public workers (and Paterno is a public worker in the employ of the state of Pennsylvania), that are in constant contact with children and underage teens we are obligated to report what we see and obligated to act upon what others see.

Paterno reporting it would have been hearsay but it is the right thing to do. The fact that the assistant (an adult) saw what he says he saw and STILL did not take it upon himself to go to the PROPER authorities makes me wonder about his ability to think on his own.

Both had an obligation to act in this case. Both failed to act and in their inaction further harm was caused. How much money do you think Paterno and that assistant have on hand to pay for the negligence case that will surely arise from this?

Most tabs, if not all, you find in here will not have a strum pattern at the top of the tabs but you can usually get a good indication of the pattern based upon how close the tabs are to one another. this usually indicates the speed of the strum: If you have three of the same tabs close together it is down, up, down in a rapid strum. If you buy music books you may or may not get strum patterns at the top of the music. It usually looks something like this:

/``/``/`/`/``/``/`/`/``/.......etc. It will not tell you to go up or down in your strum but give you the rhythm of the strum. If you are trying to follow the song exactly as it was recorded or written you can follow the strum pattern. Many songs, though, can be played in a manner that fits how you want them to sound.

Hope this helps and I am not too far off base. There are others on here that have much more experience than I and can answer the question better. It often helps to know the tempo of the song.

Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin' Love". I heard on the radio a few days ago and got home and figured out the chords. Now I am messing with it to make it sound the way I want it to sound.

Apparently I have learned something in the past year!

I am good at some stuff but I don't stand out in much but my work skills. I caught shoplifters for years and am still good at picking out the bad guys. All types. I, due to the aforementioned job, was a good interviewer (interrogation or questioning) and am able to spot a liar very well. I am a good paramedic.

I was good in the post in basketball until my back went bad. I was a fair rock climber until life got in the way. I can do rough woodwork but don't ask that it look pretty. It will be straight and done right it will just be rough. If I think of something to build I can do it as long as I have the materials.

I can drive cars and fire engines better than the average bear. I drive my wife crazy better than anyone. I found out I can hit a volleyball better than my daughters(Both of them play competitively). I have the lung capacity of an "Olympic swimmer" based on what I have been told by three physical fitness assessors.

I sit around real well if I can. I am best at that.

Forgot the specs!

Double cutaway
24 frets
Single-Single-Hum
Tremolo
Single volume and tone knobs.
Five position switch
Ash body
Bolt on maple neck with bound rosewood fretboard

The pu's are unknown and the trem is like the fender type.

I just put new strings on it, tuned it and adjusted the intonation. The guitar sounds even better.

My Bday was a few days ago and the in-laws gave me 100 bucks! The next day I went to local GC in hopes of getting an inexpensive multi-effects board or perhaps an inexpensive amp. As I was waiting to talk to an employee I noticed their used guitar area and started to peruse. I found an Epi SG that was 109.00. I liked it and after playing I asked if they would come down in price at all. No go.

Next was a Washburn electric for 99.99. It was new but since it was a display it was considered "new". I was hesitant to pay 99.99 as I would have to pay the taxes and with money as tight as it is...Well, you know.

I then noticed a Squire Tele for 79.99! I am not a huge Squire fan but with only 100 bucks and no great need to buy an expensive guitar I thought, "What the heck."

As I reached for the Squire I had to move what looked like an Ibanez out of the way.I saw the price of the Ibanez: 59.99 and took a closer look. It turned out to be a Behringer Metalien iAxe629. I forgot about the Squire, took the Behringer down and plugged it in. It sounded great (to my inexperienced ears) and it fit my needs.

I also tried the Washburn but I could not get it to sound as good as the Behringer so I bought the Behringer!

Anyway, I now have an electric that I can mess around with and it only cost me 59 bucks and the wife did not even bat an eye when I brought it home!

Now I gotta scrounge up the bucks for the amp. I have one but I want a stronger one.

I feel your pain. I have a friend who's wife found a red Strat copy at a garage sale. She bought it for him for 50 bucks. It sits on his stand, gathering dust, in the same condition in which she bought it: Missing one string, untuned and dusty. I want an electric and offered to buy it from him. He has never gotten back to me about it and I don't want to nag but every time I pass his house. or go there, I think of that guitar....Just sitting there....Doing nothing but acting as a dust catcher.

"They" will do anything to get you to buy. Anyone wonder why phones, computers, cars, etc...must undergo constant changes? Does 4G make you talk better over the phone? Does that PC game have to have the best vid card out there to work?....Just so you can see more trash on the virtual ground or more leaves on those virtual trees? Used to be that to Call of Duty required you to be able to see your virtual enemies and shoot the crap out of them. The greater GFX processing power is needed to be able to see the fleas on the dogs that go running by.

Why is it that my '05 Honda Civic, which is now paid off, is not as good as this years Honda Civic? The engine is the same and the HP is the same. Mine is older but still gets better mileage than this years ( 40 mpg to 38 mpg). I guess I could get one with the 14,000K Gig computer that tells someone where I am and tracks my driving habits (How is that good?), and can tell me where to go...But then why did I get my 4G phone and Ipad with the navigation apps? I guess I could use those while I walk in my $200 Nike Air Pillow Walkers with the lumbar support and the blinking red lights or while riding my GT mountain bike with 25" of travel on the front and 15" of travel on the back in Joshua Tree's Wonderland of Rocks...

Am I the only 45 year old out there that is tired of being told my newest is not good enough just two weeks later? I'm not a Luddite, I love technology, but does it have to change so quickly? How about we make what we have better before we go on to the next thing?

Sorry....Getting off the soapbox.
