I hope it isn't Led Zeppelin.
I think that that concert can cause a disaster. 20.000.000 people wanting a ticket, and only 20.000 places, to raise money for John "Bonzo" Bonham's wife.
That is asking for trouble.
I am not longer following concerts, it is impossible for me (thank you car and tree) to go to a concert

Topic: see other topic; intros, but different (1 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
WHO IS ABLE to recognise the following situation:
- BANDS, when they play on the Radio, do you RECOGNISE THEM EASY, BECAUSE OF THE SINGER'S VOICE, SONG STYLE, GUITARSOLOS..
This is can be tricky, and amazing.
Examples:
- I always try to find out who is singing this song, and sometimes it is really difficult.
One of the best in "the examples" is Edwyn COLLINS with the song: A GIRL LIKE YOU.
I was convinced for a few days that this was DAVID BOWIE.
- There are other examples, like TOM FOGERTY, the poor man STARTED with CCR, at first TOM FOGERTY AND THE BLUE VELVETS, FOLLOWED BY THE GOLLIWOGS, where little brother JOHN started to conquer the BAND LEADERSHIP, continuing in a J.F. Ogerty dynasty (sorry JFK).
He has a few solo albums, which I have all of them, and EVEN the voices are similar.
- SANTANA: every song. (except for Supernatural ? NO because when he plays a solo, it is so "predictable"
- EAGLES: very easy to spot, and also their guitar solos have a typical sound.
- QUEEN: This is For me the NUMBER ONE in recognising the band. They have an incredible and unique sound; MERCURY and MAY.
- DIRE STRAITS, GO AND LISTEN TO JJ CALE. You will see where the "Knopfler sound" started.
see also CHRIS RHEA. Those are difficult examples.
- THE ROLLING STONES, they are easy to recognise, because they play the same kind of songs since 30 years.

I am happy to get so much responses. For me AND FOR YOU TOO, I thinlk we are on the same frequency. I don't think it was asked too much, to write only international (well known) bands, and YES etc_04 his list; you mention some (at least 8) which I was busy to write, but I delete that. It is for everybody. SAMBA PA TI Santana.

Well of course you are welcome, and Questions: fire all questions, almost all question will be answered, and REMEMBER, when you start and you have some problems, there will be a solution.
Look around, go visit some topics, like Acoustic, Electric, bands...
A lot of "fresh" guitar players ask for songs to start, there are already songs you can find in the topics.
Start with songs, knowing the melody, and depending on your ability to play (beginner, mediocre, good) you will find songs to play. Personally, I love BOB DYLAN, the early Dylan, chords not difficult and quit easy to play.

Topic: There is not yet a list with the best recognisable intro's (19 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
This is a fascinating topic. WHY: because I only write about intros. To be honest, I think and hope to have a few answers (better: a list) and maybe discussions.
I don't know if this can be "analysed" why you prefer that intro.
I noticed a lot, "walking" from topic to topic and post to post. While doing this I saw best group, best guitar player, best song. I didn't find a topic with the most recognisable intros. They are or can be interesting to hear what , we chordians, have to say or to give comment, OF COURSE JUST ABOUT INTROS. So here is my list (not to long).
- Hotel California by the EAGLES (EXCEPT LIVE, because I have a version, live where the song starts 1 minute later, to be recognisable. There is a "Spanish guitar" intro, followed by the regular intro)
- SATISFACTION by The Rolling Stones, definitely not one of their best numbers but from the first note you recognise it.
In fact that is what I mean: from the first notes, knowing the song. Another similar Stones intro (yes Keith) START ME UP. With yes Keith I mean all his riffs see Honky Tonk Woman, Lady Jane, Jumpin' Jack Flash, and we are busy for 1 hour.
- SMOKE ON THE WATER by Deep Purple
- CROSSROADS by Eric Clapton
- HERE COMES THE SUN by the Beatles (GEORGE HARISSON, the most underestimated band member).
We will see, I really hope so, different intros. I can go on, but I won't. REASON: the opinions from others. Maybe 1 (ONE) last point. I would love here, INTERNATIONAL NAMES.

Re: smoke on the water most famous rock song ever? (14 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
I can't stop thinking about this topic and answers. It is, for me a strong song, but like, UYK wrote it is in my top 20 of best rock songs. It is little bit difficult to name only ONE song like "SMOKE ON THE WATER." You can think what you want, is this song for YOU the best song, and as I wrote already, in the early seventies (1970-1974), I was a huge fan of 3 different groups.
- DEEP PURPLE
- LED ZEPPELIN
- CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL
Later I added PINK FLOYD on my list.
About Deep Purple: Smoke on the Water was maybe one of the most popular song, but I don't see CHILD IN TIME??Also here I am not telling that this was their best song. I prefer "Woman from Tokyo" and my personal favourite is HIGHWAY STAR

Dear Tibernius.
Thanks for this information. I wanted the topic on the "electric" guitars, because it belongs here. I didn't check your site music street, but I certainly will. I am now busy to write about PRS.
Thanks a lot, I love information, the more the better. If you have some suggestions, they are more than welcome. I wrote this topic because of a young man, wanting information about Jackson's Flying V. You probably know my condition, and THANKS TO THAT CONDITION, I have time. I also try to help, a lot of people have questions. This also important for me, having about 25 guitars.
This makes it easier for me to compare, like 3 PRS EG USA made, another is a PRS SE Billy Martin, I swear, this is a killer guitar, and compared to a Gibson SG Menace, the SE is better.

Topic: AGAIN: DECENT GUITARS, MORE EXPENSIVE, BUT STILL AFFORDABLE (4 replies, posted in Electric)
A fellow chordian VHEISSU asked a question about a Flying V.
Here is what he wrote
I'm looking at purchasing a Jackson Flying V from a local music shop for £250 (around $500) however, the only thing putting me off is that it's a string through body and I like having the choice of using my trem.
Would it be possible to fit a floating trem (floyd rose or something like it) to a string through body? Or would it just look terrible.
This topic is a result of his question, and I wrote already about "cheaper" electric guitars.
Now I will try to look for "the better guitar", a higher price of course, but I wanted to create a topic, about these kind of guitars. More: I will try to find 3-5 brands.
- Gibson Faded SG Special Electric Guitar Overall: 9.15 (reactions and critics) price $579.99.
Faded is not with lacquer finish, and I witnessed the making of a Gibson hollow body in Memphis, the lacquer is a time taking process.
This guitar is a traditional SG, with mahogany body and neck, tune-o-matic/stopbar bridge, and alnico 490 pickups.
- Fender Deluxe Player's Stratocaster Electric Guitar from the Mexican Plant. It is a revised version of the former Super Strat. Upgraded with American-made Vintage Noiseless pickups. Very good critics, and not that cheap as a classic Mexican Strat. $599,99.
- Paul Reed Smith SE Custom Electric Guitar Overall: 9.42, very good critics $599, is not that cheap, is made in Korea. Being a PRS lover, I have an SE too. I wanted to add a PRS EG SE, but it seems that this model is discontinued. I have the US made EG serie, 3 different guitars with s-s-s coils, s-s-h(umbucker) and h-s-h. The s-s-s combination on my PRS sounds better than a strat. If you live in the UK, go to www.guitarbitz.com. Another solution is eBay, I purchased my PRS EG series, as well as a PRS SE Tremonti , SG style and real good, compared to the real thing.
- Fender Standard Floyd Rose Stratocaster Electric Guitar Overall: 9.02 (very good comment) but Mexican. (The Mexican Fenders sound pretty good) $499.99 - $534.99
- Paul Reed Smith SE One Electric Guitar Overall: 10.00 (super ratings), the price is $499.
So these guitars are really good, very important: great critics. Website I used:
www.musicianfriends.com. You will find also Scheckter, Ibanez, ESP, Jackson, but I limited this topic to those guitars I would buy myself. One thing I do know is: it is subjective of course, I have a PRS SE Tremonti, and that guitar is one of my favourites.
I also recommend eBay, never got a problem with guitars, and seeing the $$ vs. the ££, don't think too long, you go to a music store, try some guitars, and than it's up to you. It is not because you enter a guitar store that you HAVE to buy. Here in Belgium a Gibson (forgot the type, it was an SG) price 1500€, in Germany, the same guitar €1300.
I hope I could help.

Re: trem question (6 replies, posted in Electric)
vheissou, I have a Gibson Flying V, same price (maybe a little bit more expensive). The problem you mention is not all, try to sit and play, as Paul Simon sings: "slip sliding away.".
I am going to try, alternatives, let's say in a budget up to 300£.
I will write another topic, as I did, and look to find some guitars. I wrote already about decent and affordable guitars, and if I use this in an answer on your question, other people can also see what I found.
About agree/disagree, I can only tell you that I have that Gibson. A killer sound, but I can not play in vertical position, due to problems, so I have to sit, and to play the V sitting....

Isn't it fantastic this phenomenon?
A few weeks ago there was or the European or the championship.
Hilarious and it reminds me that we did this too, especially on Status Quo, shaking their heads and bodies at the same time.
But it remains a strange phenomenon, I don't understand it. Is it to "show" to the girls that they are great players
).
The reward was a Gibson LP BFG.
What do you think about this. I wrote it, but sometimes it was too much, because I really had fun thinking and seeing them before me, playing air guitar.

Re: Easy Song To Play (14 replies, posted in Electric)
I agree 100%, but IF I download songs, I did pay a contribution for winmx and they were under construction, and so I got the two because they gave me a login and a pass word too.
I would not be happy if I write a song, and that they take my song as public propriety.
BUT: concerning bootlegs, that's different.
Since I use only the 2 I mentioned, there is no problem for me. (in Napster and audiogalaxy time, agree, but that's history).
No dear friend, my question was not correct. I asked the songs you wrote here, but in fact I wanted to know where the songs you "mentioned" can be found, here, like youtube or myspace, because there is definitely a difference between the USA and Europe, like songs, groups, and I was interested (still am) how these songs, like Grateful Dead, Marshall Tucker, groups I know they exist, but I can't follow because I am "ignorant", and I see often similar answers, when people, "brandnew chordians" ask songs to start to play with their guitar.
Do you agree with me on this: I love to play-along, and the "speed" to detect the chords is quit fast in my case, and I consider that point as a kind of reference to see, and to evaluate (my) skill?

Re: Easy Song To Play (14 replies, posted in Electric)
Dear SouthPaw41L
I see often these names, but unfortunately for me, I heard some of those bands, but other bands not, and the songs either. Are these songs with a nice melody, or better an easy melody?
Like Cracker??? I know the chords, but I have to admit, not the songs. I will find them maybe on myspace or youtube.
One of my favourites to start playing is Knockin' on Heavens Door, All along the watchtower.
Also an EASY difficult song (what a combination) is still Hotel California, Desperado.
Where can I find the songs, I mean listen to, the songs you wrote here?
Your friend

Re: stupid question (13 replies, posted in Acoustic)
This is fun again:
THERE ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS, ONLY STUPID ANSWERS.
I worked as a MD, if I should write down all the questions people asked me, I think I should be able to write a best-seller. My opinion: IF SOMEONE ASKS SOMETHING=THAT THIS PERSON HAS A PROBLEM with a particular problem. I also admit that some questions, especially when they try to ask the question using medical words. It did happen that I had to go outside for 30 seconds, because the way they used the terminology was really hilarious, and try to be serious at that moment: it is impossible. I don't know if you use that phrase too (about the questions) Oh boy, I can write really a book about this. I also agree that people ask questions, knowing the answer, but they want confirmation.
I love you all guys.

I found a lot of ANDY WARHOL stuff, posters, books, and that guy was famous (one of the few who were famous while still living) There was an album by the Velvet underground €1415 (2000$)
Bon Jovi: Bon Jovi Box 1 (8 CDs) - Complete [Comes from 'JAPAN'].
BON JOVI Bon Jovi Box 1 (Mega rare 1996 Japanese-only limited edition deluxe box set containing 8-CD albums with card picture sleeves, two logo'd guitar picks, backstage tour passes and 100-page in-depth book price 1050$
This is written to show you how high some prices can be. I still need a turn table to put all my "vinyl" on PC and burn them on CD (Numark TT seems very good, correcting and reducing noise, I agree that this is not the same, but it allows you to keep AND your albums, AND to listen to the CD's in your car.

Re: Records, how much are they worth?? (7 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
About PRICES for "vinyl" albums, and sometimes a CD.
I have a CD called "ELECTRIC MOTHERF***ERS" by the Rolling Stones. (they have another album with the logical title: "acoustic motherf***ers" and this album is exactly the same as another Rolling Stones album: an acoustic or unplugged + 5-6 extra tracks.)
The "E M" is on a label called COBRA. I discovered it somewhere in Antwerp, where they have a market and fleamarket. I paid quit much for this album, and I took some copies, afraid and knowing myself how "chaotic" I am about my CD's. Price: still in Belgium Francs, but = 30€ or 43$.
One of my patients was a Rolling Stone freak, having ALL the records, also another patient, even worse, going to CD or Album markets, both never heard about this "Official"? because of the label (it is not guaranteed that it was original or a fantastic good bootleg) they offered me up to 100$ for my little CD, with songs on it, never released, duets Jagger and Tina Turner, the Bluesbrothers, a special version for Keith Richard's birthday with Clapton on guitar). I have at least 50 albums (vinyl) by the Who,the Kinks, all first edition.
My personal opinion is that an album from EUROPE is sometimes more valuable than in the USA, because of album sleeves, BANNED in the USA, but not here. All these factors are important. Another important fact is: the MARKET: different tracks, or in another ranking: UK & Europe, USA, JAPAN. As I saw here: go to eBay.com, look for vinyl albums and you can see amazing $$$
- Beatles Rubber Soul MOCL as FIRST-HUNDRED-COPY!! N MINT US $1,250.00 as STARTING BID.
There is even: the most expensive album, never released Chinese Democracy by Gun's & Roses.
You should read the article. Best way to figure it out is what I did: google the most expensive albums, and you will see some amazing facts. I really hope this will help you, and in the mean time I will look and dig deeper, I have time to do it and I am glad to help people.

I see that your nickname is DYLANNIX, is this because you love BOB DYLAN? If so, start playing some Dylan.
I never had lessons, but I play pretty good. One of the best solutions in my case, was to play-a-long with songs on an album.
Good luck, and if the motivation is there, you will be a good guitar player.

About good songs for man and woman.
I can think about a few artists, but do you like their songs??
- Johnny Cash & June Carter
- The Carpenters
- Bob Dylan, always good, also because a lot of his songs are covered by women, take Joan Baez
Important: you have to like the song and be able to play. I love Bob Dylan, a real "maestro"in writing songs with only a few chords.
Don't forget: THE VOICES, they have to match playing NORMAL chords

Re: One HITWONDERS (5 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
The more I read this topic, the weirder he is.
I bought on Amazon.com, Norman Greenbaum's CD. SPIRITS IN THE SKY and a lot of other songs.
The CD was for 90% "folk" with in fact 1 big electric guitar number: spirits in the sky.
Sometimes, I go on that website and order a CD. They have albums you don't find here at all.
Maybe I should open a store, were you can just order.
There is a difference in price for the same album in UK & US: USA transport included is cheaper.
Another "smash hit" was "Where do you go to my lovely" by Peter Sarstedt from the UK.
Zager and Evans: what did they do after "in the year 2525".
That is what I mean with 1 hit wonders

Thanks MODISH and SouthPaw (T).
Today is my first decent day, after having a couple of days I never want again.. Is it the Berlin trip?
THAT theory I knew, and am I correct that one a day, the whole headstock for MARTIN GUITARS, burned?
So Toney and Craig, let's presume that for some reason you get an uncle or more realistic, there is a guy on ebay who sells his Martin, wood? he has no clue, but he thinks that it is a simple average guitar.
There have to be frequences, and that a luthier can determine your guitar"s vibration?
Since there are a lot of "ROSEWOODS", I think that the South American, excluding Brazilia, rosewood might be better: Honduras?

Topic: ACOUSTIC GUITARS (6 replies, posted in Acoustic)
There are a lot of articles about acoustic guitars.
Some of them are confusing, especially when they start talking about wood used to build an acoustic.
The classic wood used for the top is
- 1) SPRUCE not all spruce is spruce, meaning that USING the same kind of tree, you have US Spruce, but you have GERMAN spruce too. What is here the difference, especially in sound.
- 2) ROSEWOOD: you have the 2 classics: BRAZILIAN and INDIAN rosewood.
Because this wood is, if I am correct, used most.
I know they also use mahagony (I have a dark brown Martin, a D-15 I think, with a 100% mahagony body). The topic is more about what spruce is used normally, and Brazilian versus Indian(& other) Rosewood.
BUT: I asked it already I think: can a human ear hear the difference between 2 guitars, one using the best SPRUCE (I don't have a clue which spruce is the best) and BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD, more for the back of your guitar.
It is not a question of "measuring" the vibrations of a guitar, I correct, if you are able to measure the vibrations, what is the output, what is considered as standard?
AND ABOUT ROSEWOOD (there is also Honduras Rosewood I think) BRAZILIAN is "THE" name great brands use, or like to use.
In fact I can ask 2 questions: you spend a lot of money for your "Brazilian Wood" guitar, but you want to show your guitar for some reason to your luthier:
- Can the human ear hear the difference?
- Can the vibration, giving us the sound through the soundhole, be measured and will there be a difference measuring BRAZILIAN versus INDIAN.
Also: WHY IS THERE SO MUCH TO DO ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF ROSEWOOD?

Hello PJL, it is with great pleasure that we welcome you. My good friend SouthPaw told you already what I wanted to tell (I thank you for that SP41L)

About guitar lessons: CONTINUE!!!
If I should start it all over, I should follow a guitar course. I am, what they call, an autodidact. I play pretty good, sitting permanent at home since 3 years, and I have the luck to have a friend, a drummer, who plays guitar too. Thanks to him, my rhythm improved a lot. My style, don't know how
to explain, is and on acoustic and on electric very similar. I was told that this was more lead, but don't ask me to play a solo. Like SouthPaw wrote: FOLLOW HIS PROFESSIONAL advise. I don't know what kind of music you play. Changing chords is very important, but if you suffer too much, try to work something out with the teacher. Songs: you find a lot and my suggestion has always been: play songs knowing the melody. If they are written for a "voice" you can transpose songs. The best and most helpful way to learn playing is: play-a-long with an album, or with songs.
SouthPaw is more a professional, so follow his instructions = what he tells you to do.
GOOD LUCK
If you have questions, or answers or you want to share interesting information: we are a big family, and no question is too much.

Eagleeye, this is almost imossible. If I want to put "sporn" (spam+porn) on that site, I don't care at all if they write that this material is unwanted here. I don't think they are stopped by giving extra information as you proposed.
I am curious if other sites suffer also from this phenomenon, but you are right: those impotent frustrated guys don't belong here at all. I detected these sporn since my membership, it was in January, and it will continue. We try to do a lot to ban them, but the phenomenon is hard to eliminate. You ban them, they use another PC, another nick, and believe me, I always worked as Medical Doctor untill a car crash in September 2000, had to stop, because I was destroying my body, so I am sitting here a lot, half paralysed and I can assure you it is not funny. So don't shoot me, I do everything I can to trace, ban and remove them. BUT your help is very appreciated by me. The "report" underneath a topic is there for a reason: to report "sporners", at first I discussed also about finding this, it is not worth a discussion, you are getting nervous and forget that this is a music site. I hope you want to collaborate with me. I hope I can count on you. I think the % of sporn is not high, but 1 is 1 to much.
What kind of music do you like, do you play in a group?
See you soon.
