Thats to bad. I want to hear the song. I had a go at it and think it's really good. I had a hard time catching the feel of it but I think after I hear it I'll have an easier time with it.

Re: Lordie, I'm trying. (3 replies, posted in Acoustic)
When I first started playing guitar back in the day, I was orrigionaly a bass player too. The way I learnned was I learnned 3 note power chords (real big in rock, metal, and punk). Since the shape is the same for any power chord and I already knew the fretboared from playing bass it was pretty easy. From there I learned to make the full barre chords (a little tougher but with the power chords I allready had half the chord made). By then my hands were strong and flexable enough to make open chords and lead licks came pretty easy because I was alreedy used to playing melodic bass lines. Hope it helps you.

Re: Classical guitar (3 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I never had a propper teacher, but I will this fall. If you are doing well with your current set up then keep with it. you are right, most of the work is done at home. it isn't because teachers are lazy or evil and trying to get rich for nothing but if you are paying by the hour, do you really want to pay someone to sit and watch you practice a Bb minor scale for 3 hours? If you can afford it I think you should take the lessons (Books and CDs don't give you feed back) and continue with your self teaching and maybe find a friend who plays to work with as well. Good luck!!!!

Re: Playing Songs Question (8 replies, posted in Acoustic)
That kind of format is really only helpfull if you basicly know the tune you just need the chord changes. A lot of people post there own compositions on this site and some have a link where you can go to hear it and some don't. I like the ones that don't in that 20 people try it and 20 different results come from it based on everyones individual styles. but for a published song thats easy. Listen to the song, Find the time (2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 6/8. ect...), then find the strum pattern to give it the feel you are going for and most likely the chords/tabs are posted here or someplace online. Put them all together and you have your song.

The notes are the same on an electric or accustic so just pick a scale and keep going till you know them all.

<img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_redface.gif" border=0 alt="Embarassed"> Now comes the 16 year guitar vetran with the heart of a newbie in search of knowlege from the chordie oracles.
what exactly is a mode? I tried to understand by reading about it in my books but understanding eludes me. My buddy Jason tried to explain it and even pointed out the modes I used in my own songs but I just don't get it and I'm one of those that really want's to know everything possible about my craft. Please oh great ones I've sacrificed a bull and cut myself while dancing naked on the Bassman, Please impart this hidden knowlege to me!!!!!!

Re: A question on guitar chords (3 replies, posted in Electric)
i lot of rock and metal feature a lead guitar and rythem guitar. Quite a bit especially 80's and 90's is based on lead riffs like classic Guns n Roses or Metallica. Even a lot of single guitar bands Like Motley Crue or Poison. A/C D/C in a lot of there songs make riffs out of chords.

Re: What's a dreadnought? (7 replies, posted in Acoustic)
That was a typo. I meant D-28. I've not seen a D-45 but I bet it's a bad ass sounding guitar. You might be able to answer a question for me, does Martin make a nylon strung classical? I've been messin with my buddy Jason's and I think I'd like to buy a classical if I can find one just right for me. His has a slightly thinner neck than most with a sound board that can rattle a snare drum (Brazilian rosewood I think)It's an older seventies modle yaree I believe(spelled wrong!!!!)I'm not sure though cause it doesn't say on the headstock anywhere, but I think thats what he said it was.
