yep boot, I am an old softie, who want to thank a lot of people. I am maybe soft, but hard too. I am certainly not afraid to show gratitude, emotions and not longer hiding myself. I am just a human like all of you, and maybe ...yes, if you go trough the same sh**, I went, your attitude changes 100%, more respect for life, for people I just try to be honest and correct, not afraid to show feelings anymore. I had to play long enough the though guy.
By the way, I would give everything I own (Bread) to see you writing in another language, try French, it is easier, that would be REAL fun, TRY IT and make me smile. ![]()
All I wanted was WRITING IN PUBLIC how grateful I am to have a certain purpose in my live.
I just try to stay who I am, is this a crime???? Is it a crime to thank other people??

Topic: European BANDS (6 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
A question I always wanted to ask: why is it so difficult for European musicians, performers, bands to have success in the USA?
There are some great bands here, and for sure in the UK.
See OASIS, they are probably known in the USA, but no matter how big they are here, it remains difficult to be big in the States.
I will give you some names, you can see and listen to them on youtube. PLEASE TRY IT and give me your opinion, I DO HOPE YOU WILL LISTEN from the US.
- TC MATIC (Oh la la la), and from Belgium.
- Techno music and Belgium (pioneers) see MILK INC.
- STASH who wrote one of the most beautiful ballads here: SADNESS
- k's Choice - Not An Addict
- Herman Brood - Saturday Night (from the Netherlands, he died a few years ago, suicide)
- Golden Earring: one of the few bands that can tell they had a huge hit: RADAR LOVE)
I just focused this topic on Belgium and the Netherlands

Here in Europe, I think we played other songs. There is definitely a difference between US and European music.

It is probably one of the most recognisable intros. I am a huge deep purple fan, but I don't put this on number 1.
Like upyerkilt writes, Bohemian Rhapsody. This is a complex song combining almost "classic music" hard rock, ballads all in 1 song.
The best song is it the best sold song? It is subjective. Is it the most recognisable song?
Difficult.

Re: here we amp again (10 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Bootlegger, can you hear a difference between a tube amp and another amp? Some people say, I think even Neil Young, that they prefer vinyl above CD?
I have 1 Marshall Valvestate, no tubes at all, but the acoustic Marshall 100W is 100% tube. This is one of my favourite amps, because I play even more electric on it, using it 50% pure, and 50% with a modelling floorboard. This amp is used a lot with the "toneworks Pandora device" because, playing alone, I have a rhythm section on board, and this is so small, and gives me the opportunity to use drum & bass loops and follow the rhythm.
WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE FENDER CYBERTWIN? and tubes, and digital modeling are on board. My opinion is that this is a super amp.

COLOUR?? well I never stood still about colours. I have a Fender Stratocaster 1964, in the most used colour, and only at that moment, I noticed that an Olympic White or Candy red was a few 1000$ more expensive. I have a sunburst.
Another guitar is GIBSON LES PAUL CUSTOM, I have a black Custom from 1968, the first year they started again.
Most of my guitars are black, but my favourite colour is WHITE.

WELL be welcome, new chordian, as we name ourselves.
You will find all you want because that song is written by Jagger/Richards aka THE ROLLING STONES. You have two "Stones" versions, 1 acoustic named: COUNTRY HONK, and the other is
HONKY TONK WOMEN
Good luck and you are probably playing it in a few moments.
The song starts in G, C to D.
I hope this will help you

In a way yes. Because now, (I use firefox), I google like www.ohio.com as example, one click and I am immediatly on the web.
When you crossed your limit of up- and downloading together, they put you as if you still use the telephone line like 10-15 years ago. I wanted to write it down, because, I pushed on the link, by accident, to surf at normal speed. They warn you if you have reached :
80% (never had)
90% I have, since yesterday, so if I use still 5-10% (I can look for it, but it is So COMPLEX to try to retrieve your password, which I forgot (probably due to the fact a friend assembled a new PC, a real killer PC) and I if this happens: IT TAKES ME 5 MINUTES to go on line. I just have to retrieve my password (telling the modem I use, the number on the modem). But I hope that this is not happening, (I downloaded too much, legal, I paid for it.) , and so my friend Ken, I depend on this machine too much. A lot of people do, but it is my only way out.
KEN, WHEN ARE WE GOING TO VISIT A WHISKY FACTORY. I love Scotland, it has so much to give, and the nature changes every 20 minutes.

I think I have still between 500Mb and 1000Mb I hope enought to continue.

Re: MINI MYSTIC LIFE SONG (5 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Thanks. This is a hard song for me, asking and having so many confusing thoughts. The lines (on 1 I wrote with a hard cry, are probably from JOHN LENNON in his song MOTHER.
It is a song to think about a lot of things, and the approach is
1) as a man of science.
2) as a living human being, is there a God, and if, why do a lot of people so much. But SEE point 1.
I start from birth, the moment that you are born we all know, but growing up results in death. So we are born to die. I have thinking about all possible reasons, in my opinion is "to pass your genetic material to your child, once born, same destination.
What are we doing in between? working like a dog, robbery, crime, also the ability to LOVE, which is on of the most important things in your life. In what I wrote here, now, some lines are part of the rest of the song, I will write more, because I didn't have the courage. Even more strange is me, thinking of other people, why they are dead and I'm still here.
Keep it going the discussion, but this one belongs more on Chordie's Chat Corner.

Giving a purpose to live for before we die.

There are far more verses, going up to a certain climax. The song, the chords, are absolutely not just strumming. It is difficult to explain, because it is a mix: strumming and t the same time a kind of giving it a much warmer feeling by placing my fingers, better a finger on a string and change positions, like on the A and D string, by going, playing the D chord, or the A chord, with that finger from 3th fret to 2nd fret, back up and followed almost immediately by a similar movement on D string coming from the A string.
Sorry folks, it isn't that easy as it looks, but even the chords are not the easiest ones, like Gm7, is a beautiful chord when playing it sounds like a sad, melancholic jazz chord.
I wrote that one back in september 2000, a few months after my car crash, which results, driving 60 miles/h and hitting a tree, in a miracle, because 999.999 people die immediately. I also "died" 2 times, a cardiac arrest, but they brought me back. I am 100% considered as disabled, BUT I can still walk even using almost always crutches. During that period, I started working again, but had to stop. RESULT: A LOT OF QUESTIONS, like the purpose of life " Why are we born? from the moment we are born, we start to die. why someone dies driving 20 miles/h and why I am still here. Is there a God? and why have a lot of people nothing, like Somalia. I can go on for hours, but I NEEDED to put this song here

Topic: DISCO (3 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
It is today again OK to love and play disco music. I tried it already a few times, and I am sometimes close to an own disco song, with close I mean sometimes.
So I have a few questions:
- which song can be considered as the first disco song? or who has the credits to be pioneers in this music style? I have probably 10 Billboard top 100 albums, and now and than, even in 1970, you are able to hear some pre-disco bands.
- is it a difficult style to play? like the strumming patterns. I have the impression that the guitar at that time was used as part of the rhythm section, and a lot of trumpets and similar instruments were used.
- I have the same problem with reggae (WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF THE WORD REGGAE?).
Also the bands playing it are more popular again: KC and the sunshine band, Donna Summer, Village people, Gloria Gaynor.
There is only ONE THING I don't understand, why is disco, at least some bands are so associated with homosexuality. Take Village People, the members? Also the song I WILL SURVIVE, by Gloria Gaynor is a song you can hear in the big international "parades". I was even convinced that GAYnor was on purpose.
Who can give an answer concerning this topic, and am I right when I say that, at least for me, it is a difficult music style?

Re: can some one tell me the strumming pattern for Hotel California? (8 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Well, riddler, you seem to learn or to improve your skills almost like I do. I am not playing in a band, and NEVER IN A COVER GROUP. A lot of people play guitar in cover bands, I think the number one in cover bands are the Shadows. This is an example where you need to play almost exactly like they do. I also heard, and saw, bands playing HOTEL CALIFORNIA, but I think that almost no player can play exactly that song. They use a 12 string guitar in it, and how many of us have a 12 string ELECTRIC guitar? I have one a BURNS, not the cheapest one, by trading my Variax 700 (acoustic) for the Burns and got 400€ extra. What I found, when I played pretty much the 12 string Burns is that I had improved a lot my skills on guitar, REASON: the neck is thicker than a common electric guitar, and you have to push on 2 strings in stead of one which gave me a thicker skin on my fingertips.
I am discussing here in acoustic about electric, but TRUST ME, I COULD CHANGE ELECTRIC IN ACOUSTIC. It was just to explain some things.
The best way to learn a song is acoustic, 100% if you play along with a song on your CD.
Playing along is underestimated, but it gives you a much better idea. In most cases, using pure chords, NO CAPO, NO open tuning, I can play along quit fast.
So about Hotel California, using strumming, and I don't think that this song needs correct strumming. A song needing CORRECT strumming, is the at first site very easy song: "GLORIA" by THEM, using E A D. This is for me the best example how to strum.

This is a nice one, not because of the fact that I say it.
BUT:
WHAT IS OR BETTER WAS THE FIRST SONG YOU COULD PLAY?
- "The House of The Rising Son"
Well, who is in? Let's go back in time, playing on a (often lousy) guitar, and thinking YES, I can play guitar.
We learned so much already on Chordie, but again: FIRST SONG ON GUITAR.
I exclude all other instruments, piano too.

Re: Power chord songs anyone??? (12 replies, posted in Electric)
POWER CHORD SONGS?
I did notice some bands and songs, using power chords.
Have you tried this: playing a ballad using power chords? Another example: "the House of the Rising Sun": it's a traditional, and for most people who like or want to play guitar, start with this song, but compare the version played by THE ANIMALS and compare the same song performed by "FRIJID PINK" this can be maybe the best example, of using power chords.
Personally I prefer to use REGULAR CHORDS, A E G...., as another way to create a similar kind of POWER CHORDS. As example I take THE ROLLING STONES: "HONKY TONK WOMAN". You start in G, go to C, back G, and D. METHODS TO PLAY: acoustic, and you have their acoustic version "HONKEY TONK BLUES" play this faster and harder: "honky tonk woman". Easy to play, using power chords. I prefer to play this with more POWER(= power chordish) by pulling and bending in G, C and D, also other strings. The sound, personal taste, is better this way. Some songs however are different, but it is very amusing to play that song slow, acoustic.

Re: Stubby fingers (11 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
You have a point, a difficult one. I have relative small hands, but I noticed that while playing, your fingers get more flexible. One of my best guitars is a Fender Telecaster, reissue 1952, pistache green, and custom made, but only for the European market. And even the fact that this one of the best guitars in the world, especially the sound, I realise now, after reading your topic, that I play not that much on the tele, just because of a thicker neck.
I wrote this already a lot, if I should keep 1 electric guitar, it will be WITHOUT DISCUSSION my PRS CUSTOM 24, thin neck, light and from 1993, and they were inspired by Gibson and Fender, Ted McCarthy was a very important man in the Gibson plant (CEO from 1948-1966)
After the Santana story,Paul Reed Smith gave him one of his guitars to try out, Carlos couldn't beelieve his ears, he asked another, and: there is the success story, with the help of the same Ted McCarthy.

One question, what do you mean by greatest american artists?
- Quality: passion, soul, living for their music?
- Quantity: Hi boss, how many albums did we sell today?
The greatest American Artists, is for me, and probably to all European Chordians, a very interesting topic, and I do what I always do, check the artist and try to find a song. I learned already a lot doing it this way.
A topic about Europe's greatest artists can (I DO HOPE) learn you about them and their music.

I have the impression that it seems a nice device with great possibilities and the comments written by customers is rated 7/10.

I have recently a BOSS BR 600, with the intention to record, on a CF card, and to put it on myspace, but I lost already hours, after downloading a Dutch manual, but I don't get a clue how it works, even following the manual.

Re: Different Pickups on a Fender Strat (7 replies, posted in Electric)
Yes, this is possible, but you can narrow your choice, depending on your budget. If you say, I want a stratocaster between 1000 and 2000$ it will be more easy to choose.
I will try to give you some ideas, and the parameter: I USE THE OPINION OF CUSTOMERS AND THEIR RATINGS BETWEEN 4 and 5 stars.
- Fender American Stratocaster Electric Guitar: price between 950 and 980$
- Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Electric Guitar: 1200$
- Fender American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster Electric Guitar: 1300$
- Fender American Vintage 57 Stratocaster Electric Guitar: 1400 to 1500$
- Fender Artist Series Eric Clapton Stratocaster: 1500$
- Fender American Vintage Series '70s Stratocaster Reissue: 1300 to 1400$
Cheaper:
- Fender Highway One HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar: 700 to 750$ and a s-s-h combination
- Fender Highway One Stratocaster Electric Guitar: 750$ and s-s-s coils.
More expensive:
- Fender Custom Shop Time Machine Series '60 Strat Relic Electric Guitar : 2550$
So all the guitars here are high rated by customers, all ORIGINAL US STRATOCASTERS.
I worked quit hard on this topic, but my only concern is to help. Some sites:
www.music123.com www.musiciansfriend.com www.zzounds.com
They are all on line stores, and if I am not wrong, cheaper than in a store. I worked a lot like this, writing on a paper, some different types, try them out in a Music Store, if they are a lot more expensive---> sites, if the price is similar (or a little bit more expensive) buy it.
I hope I could help.
