Hi musicrox, as written: you know already to play without a problem the chords you mentioned.
But you need ABSOLUTELY to play B, B7, useda lot in blues and other nice songs.
I know a lot of chords, and you can find more on www.chordbook.com, you can change, better transpose chords, find a lot of chords used a lot in songs. Why transpose: some songs have really difficult chords, like B#, Cm ...., I have a lot of books with songs, like the songbook of the Beatles.
You can see hat songs written a piano, are sometimes really difficult, also songs are written in that way that the singer has no problems to sing them. But a song performed by Bryan Adams, and covered by a woman, with a different voice and not able to sing the Adams chords, will use other chords, matching to her voice. If you look in a songbook, you can change songs to play and sing them better. A BIG GOLDEN ADVISE: try to play along with the song on your CD.
I am able to play along within 30 seconds, and if I am wrong, or if it gets more difficult, start it over.
Also important is the fact that YOU KNOW THE MELODY. There are very popular songs I start to play, and have to stop, because of the melody.
An easy and great song is "KNOCKING ON HEAVENS DOOR" the Bob Dylan version, the Gun's and rose version.
Keep practising and even if you play already quit good, you will improve your skills more and more.
Last thing: minor chords like Am, are more melancholic, and A7, is more bluesy.

BBDGus, nice to meet you. I agree, if you want to play that song as it is on an album, it is difficult. If you play it using the proper chords, (without the solos) it is a lot more easy.
An example: the songs played in a Music Store, by guitar players, are:
- House of the Rising song (I think that for most of us, this is or was the first real song we played)
- Hotel California
- Stairway to heaven.
Some days in a Music Store, when there are a lot of people, I am amazed about the way they play. You can hear 10 players, just playing guitar solos, which is horrible.

Detman, I was convinced, but I really would see the effect of using multiple amps at the same time
How are they connected??
Most people tell that Jimi was the greatest, to me he is more a kind of "illusionist", WHY, because people paid a lot more attention to his "PERFORMANCE", he was indeed one of the best guitar player, but to me NOT THE BEST. See SRV, less show, so people are less distracted by a spectacular show. SEE RAMMSTEIN, a German group, unfortunately linked to much to the skinheads & neo nazis, with guitars spitting fire. Also see Kiss.
Jimi died so young and became an idol.
Another crazy fact is that people like COBAIN, and even more: ELVIS PRESLEY, who sold millions of albums after he died. There is a rumour that he was almost bankrupted.

Rebel, thanks for your answer, and these topics are fantastic. You have to look, in Chordie's chat corner, I used the following question, better the name: FACTS, I have a real great little book, got it for free in HELSINKI, it was included together with a guitar magazine. But, Jesus, I realised there that this was probably the last trip I did on my own because of destroyed body due to a car crash.
If I find facts or even better strange and funny facts, I post them, and a "triple" check, also here on the internet. It is far more easy to find some items if you know where to look.
You got the credits, and I found my little book. There are really amazing facts, and it is funny too.

I have amps, and I heard that amps using "tubes" are better. o here, some WHYS:

- Is it correct that a tube amp is better compared to a non tube amp?
- Opinion about amps having an amazing amount of other amps and build in effects, see line 6 amps.
- What about the Fender Cybertwin, where tubes and digital stuff, work together?
- What about a Valve State, like some Marshalls?
- I was reading something about Jimi Hendrix, and if I am not wrong, I think he answered that he connected a few amps TOGETHER.
So what is true?
What difference in sound between a Marshall (just a brand) or a Fender with tubes, compared to a Marshall Valvestate.
Can it be possible that I am destroying my Acoustic Marshall, by playing electric on it, to have and hear the beautiful sound of the guitar you plugged in? I swear that this is an incredible experience, and even more using that little Pandora with a modelling and effects I can use on that amp. In that little effect processor, you can choose a certain rhythm, and this helped me so much to keep the rhythm.
How to connect 2 amps, and what is the result?

For everyone, but more for Zurf, I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS HARMLESS BUT THIS IS MY FAVOURITE AMP. I have 2 microphones, and somewhere I read, where you have to put these mics, and I don't find it back. Can it be 1 pointed at the bridge and the other pointed in the direction of the 12th fret?
I, owning too many guitars, followed the "ancient" way. In the sixties, there were almost no electro-acoustic guitars, and due to a video clip, with Bob Dylan, and DONOVAN, I made my decision, and it works fine. Since I live here alone, my ex comes now and than, she helps me a lot, and we are good friends (divorce in 1995) but she can be so helpful that I don't find some things back, because I don't find my second mic. I've tried it, and it is a precision work to place those things correct.
About amps, I will look on eBay.

Jerome, I taught " 2 RULES: no "THE" something, and no verbs? At first I was convinced that you were against these rules, here.
But what I like is the band name: "THE SOMETHING"

sumelton, your my men. I hope some others try to give comment on brand new albums.
Take Springsteen, with MAGIC, my comment was a lot shorter than the John Fogerty's REVIVAL.
Probably they can all be found on youtube, a thing I forgot, I even didn't think about it, so I am really grateful for your contribution AND YOUR INFO.

I tried to play along, it took me 20 seconds, and I think she starts using F#, followed by the E chord. I didn't continue, but I hope this helps already. Look on youtube, run the song, and try first to find the matching chords, and if you have them, well there you go.

Is it a song of a woman named Paula Cole? I only found lyrics, but there is a Paula Cole singing I am so ordinary, on youtube.
If you are experienced, try to play along with the song, but as I read you probably did this. I don't know the song, neither the singer, but I will try to find more.
That's a promess

Dear Nadine, I really missed you, and yes it came suddenly, and at first I was a little bit confused, but I accepted, now 1 thing, I did not change, I am who I am, and I like to go back to South Africa.
I don't find a trace of my friends (he is from 1928, lived for 2, and I am afraid that he is maybe not longer amongst us). Even getting a lot of money thanks to the fact that I was overinsured, and getting as much as 2 college teachers, it will be difficult, financially for another 6 months.
I can not believe 1 insurance company, they still pay me 50%, the maximum for my lesions, but having so many documents, even getting extra money from health care, which by the way I only saw it twice when I was still working, meaning that this is the ultimate document. Like I said so many documents from doctors writing that it is IMPOSSIBLE TO DO ANY KIND OF MEDECINE JOB, which proves that economically I am 100% useless, they don't move, probably because I am to expensive for them, while they always smiled as long as they got a fortune to have this insurance. Probably I will get hospitalised, end November, so they have to pay back 100%, and high placed friends in other insurances, don't understand this, they find it outrageous because they pay you the most important handicap, in my case economic 0%. Trial is probably the only way to get even, and than, first thing is going to South Africa, and hoping to see you and probably others there.
Glad you are back

I am glad to have deleted already 1 porn and 1 spam.
The only thing I don't understand is why it is almost always on the ACOUSTIC forum.
Also the why, the whats, and the hows talking about a reason?
If someone of you chordians detect something, my PC is always on line, European time from 08.00 to 14.00, and often in the afternoon, but this is also the period I have to rest because of my disability, since a few days I stay on line until 19.00-20.00 h, I hope I can count on you all "chordians".
Thanks a lot.
I am proud to be a chordian, a music lover in all aspects, playing, listening like everybody here.
You all gave my life a new purpose since the day I became a member.
And this is priceless.

I think it's a kind of poem.
As upyerkilt sais, whatever we tried to do, like helping him: it was NEVER good. I think we all did great to support that young man.
I will never forget the question where he asked if musicality was a result or better was in the family, and I explained him that it could be in the human genes, the answer he wrote, was incredible, writing extremely aggressive, that I was crazy because he was thinking about JEANS.
This was one of his first answers.
I know, that you and I will give people like him a chance. Everybody deserves that. I am so glad that we tried everything, having a lot of patience. I don't care if young people have an aggressive tone here, most cases (only a few) DO change, but..

Southpaw and Detman, thanks for everything, but to answer your question Detman, I looked a few hours and trying to use your budget, you will find only amps, mend to practise. But 30W, yes that can be OK, they will hear you quit good, if I should know this: HOW MANY NOISE IS PRODUCED BY A DRUMMER, playing like he always play. The comments I saw described 30W can be enough to be heard, but JESUS, if the drummer plays like the late JOHN "BONZO" BONHAM (Led Zeppelin) I think you need 200W smile

THANKS A LOT SOUTHPAW, I looked on these sites, also on www.zzounds.com and www.musiciansfriend.com. I did not look on eBay, later.
It is to get crazy to look and to collect all the information I try to give you all, but I have a lot of time, so I love to share my findings.
I only discovered that you have to spend at least 200$ to get a decent amp.
BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO GATHER INFORMATION, ABOUT GUITARS, AMPS.
All you need to do is, when you don't have a lot of time, write a topic about a guitar, and since I am sitting a long time here, I will be really happy if I can help you. I always loved to help people, it was my occupation too. So DON'T BE SHY TO ASK.

So amigo, SouthPaw, what is the name of your band, or are you performing alone? This topic might be interesting, of course hoping that people will answer like you do. I really appreciate it.
It is very subjective of course, but I am very interested in how many "chordians" are able to live, or do have an extra job, by playing. I should really love that you can help me, maybe another name for this topic, like who can live from playing solo/band or as side job.
What is your opinion?
I do know one thing: people always look at the sunny side, dreaming about FAME. My answer is always the same, I was active as Doc on one of the biggest rock festivals, and was also Doc in theatre, with Belgium greatest actors. Believe me, my job was hard, I worked 14-15 hours a day, and Saturday 8-9 hours: result: relation crashes. But actors, musicians who reached a certain level, THEY WORK & PERFORM, WHILE WE HAVE A FREE WEEKEND, HOLIDAY, X-MAS..
That is the side the public doesn't see at all. Or earning a lot of money, like I did, why: I worked as a fool, and was always the first to invest in material like a surgical laser (50.000$), which caused a PHENOMENAL JEALOUSY BY MY COLLEAGUES, even so bad that they started to spread rumours, like drinking, women (that part is right) but I survived all these things, even better, the more they talked about me, the more people I saw. Unfortunately, it is all over now, but even disabled, I had the luck to sign too many insurance contracts, so the jealous collueges are still there, with me laughing, even in this situation.
CONCLUSION: TO ALL PEOPLE WHO ENVY OR ARE JEALOUS BECAUSE OF A MUSICIAN THINK TWICE, YOU CAN RELAX AND THE ARTIST IS WORKING

Guitarpix, did I read it correct, that you can play "More than Words" by EXTREME?
I want to play this already for years and sometimes I am real close without reading tabs. WHY?

I am not a rhythm guitarist, and I can play only a solo for a few seconds. I play maybe in a strange way. My style is, as a lot of people I know have told me, that using riffs and licks, quit difficult to play, and my "skill" depends a lot on the "how I feel" problem, I play something, it sounds fantastic (TO ME!), and the next day, even remembering the song, it sounds awful, I think a lot of stuff you play, depends on your mood, see electric when feeling more aggressive (I AM ALMOST NEVER AGGRESSIVE) and acoustic, when calm. I wanted to say that your mood affects a lot the way you play. So, most of people tell me that I am more a lead guitarist, playing a song in such a way that you recognise the song very fast.
So, if I am a lead guitarist, and I would play in a band, there are very few solos, and isn't that necessary to be a lead guitarist? I am also very lazy, I studied 7 years at the university to become a Medical Doctor, but I studied 1 month before the tests. I am also someone who doesn't like to read manuals, like for my BOSS BR 600. Conclusion: trying tabs is, knowing me, not my thing, but I think I should try harder to learn reading tabs. DO YOU KNOW A SITE, OR INFORMATION TO LEARN TABS THE EASY WAY? IT WILL IMPROVE MY STYLE, IT IS JUST SINCE A FEW MONTHS (THANKS CHORDIE) THAT I START TO LEARN READING TABS.
Can I have some advise? knowing that I am lazy? Almost never I had to learn, because I think I am blessed with a very good memory, and this fact is not realy healthy, a lot of jealousy, when I was student, and the same when practising. Everything was to easy for me, so a lot of work, and living like a god, and always the first to start with the newest techniques, like laser.
Sex, drugs & Rock 'n Roll AND an awful lot of patients (a lot called me Rockdoc), again causing jealousy between the other doctors and me.
So I am glad that I wrote this, it relieves me and I am not lying or exaggerating things

Now an than I use power chords. But still I prefer, even playing hard rock, to use regular chords.
You can play, I don't know if this is a good example, HONKY TONK WOMAN, starting in G, followed by C, back to G and D.
If you play this acoustic, you play "COUNTRY HONK' the acoustic version of Honky tonk woman.
But playing it Electric, you can use G C D, or use them in power chords.
When do you speak about using power chords ? I know them, but I like to strum, and at the same time, a kind of pulling the strings, or using little licks, like in E, kind of Crossroads, style.
So my question was, knowing the difference between the usual and power chords, who, or how many chordians prefer to play power chords, or like me, giving power to the regular chords.
You see the difference: using POWER CHORDS, or GIVING POWER to usual chords.
Maybe I am wrong, but if you have reached a certain level, playing guitar, you can do more variations, licks, other finger positions, like G, in stead of using my finger on the little E string, I can put that finger also on the 3th fret but on B.

Thanks moddish, I believe and hope that this topic is a good one.
WHY? because of the fact that the age of CHORDIANS has to be between 12 to 80 years, and so we are able to have a closer idea about the difference in taste.

What kind of music is played in South Africa? Europe?
BUT MORE: What is the influence of (more specific England, Scotland, Ireland) THEIR MUSIC on US music? Probably a lot.
I know that every country has his own "speciality" like France: The typical French music, called "chanson", in Germany, music called "SCHLAGER" Ireland, Scotland, England.
Between Ireland and Scotland: is the traditional music real different between the 2 countries?
I know that a large number of Catholic Irish people moved to the USA between 1845 -1850 (?) caused by hunger.
Such a number of Irish people, "had" to bring a lot of their culture, also music.
I read that most of the Irish stayed in Massachusetts, but also in bigger cities like Chicago and New York. I love to see once in my life St Patrick's day in the USA.
I have the impression that the "Irish" English language is closer to the "American" English language. About 50.000.000 Americans claim to have Irish blood,
We also have Scotland, about 5.000.000 people claim to have Scottish blood, as much as the population in Scotland.
The most amazing fact, and I didn't know it at all, that the Germans are providing the most immigrants. Their number is 51.000.000 German-Americans. I couldn't believe it, but it's a fact.
Names: celebrities like Clark Gable, Paris Hilton, Doris Day, Nick Nolte, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christopher Walken, Bruce Willis, Sandra Bullock, Jon Voight and Kirsten Dunst.
This is completely new for me, they all have German Roots. A better name for PARIS HILTON should be BERLIN HILTON.
ITALY: 18.000.000
Can we speak, about the fact, that US music is a result of mainly European music, seeing these numbers, of people? Add the Afro-Americans, and their music, I am not longer surprised about the different music styles (blues, Country, Bluegrass...)
I hope you can help me with this topic, I worked about 2 hours on this one, and it is far from complete.

ebigham1 I have also the SG and a Les Paul, but I sold my standard and got a real nice price.
Maybe I shouldn't have done this, but I have a Gibson LP Supreme, and 2 customs.
As I told, I have a PRS SE (can it be a Billy Martin?) and this guitar sounds better than my SG.
There are TOO MANY guitars on the market. 20 years ago, you had 1 choise: A Gibson LP Standard, and a Custom, and a Gibson SG, Fender: Stratocaster or telecaster.
Take a look today in your music store: 30 different stratocasters, reissues, Clapton and others, relics. It is really confusing.
My Gibson SG Menace, has no lacquer finish, no covers on the humbuckers, and was affordable.
One of the things that make guitars expensive is caused by the lacquer finish. I saw how it was done, and ... a huge work, similar to a car,  PRECISION WORK, the workers there wear masks, the guitars are in a special place to dry. The time they use for this, is almost the same to build a guitar. BUT WILL IT CHANGE THE SOUND?

I have to apologise, I used it so much, and now I've detected more on the site rainman and Roger gave us.
The other one, I mentionned is also real good, I will try everything to see what they offer.
If you take the all-guitar-chords/chord name link you can find easier a chord, using this link. You  will also notice on top chord name: you can place dots, move them, and you get a chord name. There you will find also chords, chord progression, scales.

Hello Roger, how is the weather over there? Here was it 22° celsius yesterday.
But to come back on the sites where can find almost every chord, I suggest that you use both sites
and compare them. I only know that you can move dots (to put your fingers) on chordbook.
The best: I don't know, they are both great.
