Looks like we'd better be doing some more camping in the coming seasons.  I am going to have to drop a little over 3 grand into my tow vehicle to get it to pass inspection.  Replacement is 30 grand, so in comparison that's a bargain.  Still, that's the Martin I want, the Loar archtop I want to go with it, and a kick butt PA and recording set up thrown in on top.

I figured, what the heck, with that much money going into the suspension, steering, brakes, and exhaust, I figured to at least get a little more engine performance and am having a cold air intake put on too.  That only adds an Ibanez acoustic electric bass to the cost.

My wallet hurts.

I hate to see anyone's marriage dissolve, but I'm pleased that you're enjoying your life more.

I was wondering about your hand and whether you got full function back.

Welcome home.

Barre all three.  You hardly have to move.  Standard F chord shape with the barre at the first fret.  Then you can use the A7 shape, but barre at the third fret for the C7.  G7 barred is just the F chord shape played at the third fret, but lift the finger that's on the D string.

Good luck.  I use the same instructional method.

You'll sleep in time.  You're going through stuff I wouldn't wish on anyone, but it is a season and not a new normal.  You will sleep again sometime.  You're strong and will make it through.

According to one of my favorite stores, Picker's Supply in Fredericksburg, the story I got on them is that Recording King purchased or licensed the designs for turn of the century arch tops from Gibson.  Or maybe it was Martin.  Pretty sure it was Gibson.  Anyway, I don't have my facts down very well, but the point is that they aren't a new design, but a tried and true classic design.  They're more of something being in production again than they are a reproduction if that makes any sense.

I got my hands on several models at Picker's Supply and loved the tone and ease of play on them.  If I were a little more flush, I'd have bought one on the spot.

thanks beamer  and i will have to try that but it not easy i seen so much blood and gore in the military and also on the road as a trucker stopping to help others who where hurt across the country that i really don't know what to write about. because there is a lot of anger and regret and hurt i seen and felt over the years. and here where i grew up i always had to fight because i was an outsider that is what pushed me to become an Air Rescue Swimmer  For the U.S. Navy

Randy Travis had a hit with a song about a bus wreck.  "Four Wooden Crosses"  Pick someone who sticks in your mind and give him or her a back story.  Maybe he had a fight with his wife and was angrily driving recklessly.  His anger vanished when he saw what it brought him to.  There's a song in that.  Or a teenager on her way to a date and was too excited and had a wreck.  There's a song in that.  Or change some of the facts of things you've seen in the military and play the "what if" game.  There's probably a million songs in that.  John McCutcheon had a hit about a real WWI story, titled "Christmas in the Trenches."

I'm sure you've got a million stories knocking around in your head.

Good luck.  I hope you get pencil to paper.

Have they got an infectious disease specialist working with him?

Fungal infections are the worst.  I hope he hasn't got one of those.

I like your man cave.  Wood for resonance.  Fly tying rigamarole.  Guitars all over the walls.  That's hard to beat.  Awful hard to beat.

Welcome to Chordie.  I am also frustrated in songwriting.  I can write a white paper or a set of procedures easily enough.  If you need corporate policies, I'm your man.  But write a song?  Forget it.  Good luck.

I do a few things to try to sleep.

If the reason I am not sleeping is pain, then I take some acetaminophen or ibuprofen.  That's a drug, so maybe not for you.

If the reason I am not sleeping is that my mind won't shut down, I play games to keep it occupied.  One of my favorites is to pick a category and then go through the alphabet naming things in that category.  If I get stuck on a letter (Q and X are the most frequent ones), I'll just take a pass.  The idea isn't to "win" the game, but to just give my mind something to occupy it until I fall asleep.  Sometimes I'll go backwards, which adds the challenge of remembering the alphabet backwards while coming up with items in the category.  I'll also do math problems in my head.  Sometimes as simple as picking a high number and a low number, then count backwards towards zero from they high number by the low number.  An example: I'll pick 698 and 7, then I'll count back from 698, 691, 684, 677, 670, etc.  Other times I'll imagine a shape and size and calculate its area.  Rarely do I ever get to an answer before I'm asleep.

Another thing I'll do if my mind won't shut off is to read something interesting, but not too interesting.  Non-fiction books on a topic that's only kind of interesting to me is best.  I have a tablet with a Kindle app, so I can read in bed.  Currently, I'm reading a very, very, very long book describing archeological finds in Ninevah and Nimrod (the places mentioned as frequent enemies of the ancient Jews in Kings and Chronicles).  You can find all kinds of books of this sort on Kindle if you search for Free Kindle books.

If the reason I am not sleeping is stress, then I will enjoy a nice cup of herbal tea.  Sleepytime, Sleepytime Sinus Soother, and various chamomile flavors are my favorites.  Honey is a natural muscle relaxant, so I sweeten with honey instead of sugar.  Peppermint is a good natural remedy if you have a headache (which you probably do if you aren't sleeping and are under stress).  Peppermint with honey in it - very soothing.

Good luck Joey.  I wish you didn't have everything on your plate that's found it's way there.

Welcome back Rick.  I'm sorry for your loss.  There is comfort in her being assured of her eternal soul.

I will not be able to go to Florida in February stag again.  I had far too big a smile on my face when my wife picked me up from the airport.

We still owe ourselves our 25th anniversary get-away (though our 26th is on Thanksgiving this year).  I'll work with my funny little honey and see whether we can ditch the offspring on some unsuspecting adult, or maybe get my sister or a friend to watch them, or something, and run away to Florida.

If we do that, then we will not crash on your floor.

I will NOT allow my fingers to get too drunk!

Don't make rash promises.

Terriblyunfortunate situation. Please let me know if there is anything to be done that will help you or your sister.

Stinking burglars.

Happy NGD.

I'll pray for Gary. As far as meningitis goes, if he has lived since Friday with it, he's doing pretty well. I hope that is encouraging news.

Screw that!

Sing it out loud and proud. The Bible says that the Lord rejoices is our voices raised in song. He's the one what gave you that voice, so He knew what He was getting into.  If it's good enough for Him, it ought to be good enough for anyone else.
