Nice but quite sad song Trevor!
Clearly illustrates that Christmas is not always so Jolly for everyone.
Will you be putting up a live version ?

Okay - I changed the key to G -made a couple of lyric changes, added a chord in last line of verses
I think it is close to where I want it to be now.
Here is the link to it in chopro format in my songbook.

This may a dumb question then ----
why would any one pay $2500 for a Gibson Les Paul Goldtop when the could buy a much less expensive guitar and just buy a couple of P90's, new strings, and switch them out for the cheap ones ?

It's cool to read all the messages here- I have absolutely no idea what any of it means but it sounds like it must be fun to play around with all the cool stuff you guys are talking about.
you are way out of my league. I'm just happy I figured out how to record a song on my computer.
I would love to see a couple of photos of where you guys record and the equip you use.
I know that when Phill has recorded songs for me I am always amazed - I seriously don't know how you guys mix and put stuff together - it's like you are sound engineers or something and it ends up sounding like a full band with backup singers. ![]()
Very well done - as I said - even though I don't understand most of what you're talking about - I enjoy the conversations between the real musicians.
Keep on keepin' On !

Strummerboy Bill
Thank you! and to quote you- " you must've been reading my mail"
I definitely wrote it from that perspective. I sure did have it in my head as a song that would be played in a country bar for the dance floor. That's why you are the Musicator Extraordinaire!
Peatle
Thank you - I'm glad you got the same vibe that it was a country style song.
I think that was why I was struggling a bit with the chords - and omg - I admire all of you people on chordie that can play and sing at the same time - that is sooooo hard for me. ![]()
Thanks again for the comments !
(and Brian - thank you for your very insightful advice via email !

I changed the key to G and changed some of the lyrics and one change in chord sequence. I think I like where it is now - pretty country- ish!
Can’t Close My Heart
[G]There was a time that I called you
There was a time that I called you [C] mine
Not a day passes by when you're [G] nobody special
oh [D] Woman, you were [C]always on my [G] mind
Verse 2
[GT]here was a time when I held you
There was a time I held you all night [C] long
never more than a moment a[G]way from my heart
now [D] only a memory [C] lost in a [G] song
chorus
[C]I miss you a little too much, and a lot too [G] often
[C] Seems my heart has found a million [G] ways
]C] I wonder how you are, do you [G] miss me at all ?
I [D] can't let go [C] of our yester[G]days
Verse 3
[G]There was a time when I loved
There was a time when I loved how you made me [C] feel
I can close my eyes to what I [G]don't want to see
but [D]seems I can't close my [C]heart to how I [G]feel
chorus
[C]I miss you a little too much, and a lot too [G] often
[C] Seems my heart has found a million [G] ways
]C] I wonder how you are, do you [G] miss me at all ?
I [D] can't let go [C] of our yester[G]days
I [D] can't let go [C]of our yester[G]days
I just [D] can't let go [C]of our yester[G]days

Great poem
Hope you don't mind me adding this last verse..... I couldn't help but think that by JJJ's description that he abandoned it somewhere....... which led me to think - hmmmmm who is gonna find it, hence the following......
What is this, an abandoned treasure found
a beautiful bread maker on the ground,
feels great to have it in my car
but now I crave a new guitar
next generation owner, amen and amen

Gave it to my niece who was just beginning and needed a guitar for lessons.
I didn't like it bc the action of the strings - strings sit high
