Hi Paul and welcome to Chordie.
If the action of your guitar is not good then fingering barre chords at the lower end (F, F#, G etc) will be easier than playing at the higher end (C. C#, D etc). This could be the reason for your difficulty. (By action I mean the height of the strings from the frets).
Roger
BTW you are confusing up/down and higher/ lower on your guitar. These words relate to musical pitch and not to the physical position.
Not wanting to cause controversy but I have to say I disagree with Nela over the guitar position.
Having the guitar tilted back makes barre chords even more difficult to play, in fact tilting it back makes any chord more difficult to play as your wrist ends up in an unatural angle. I suggest you learn any chord but especially barre chords in front of a mirror to see the fretboard and keep the guitar and your wrist in a normal position.

I am extremely jealous as I would have loved to have been there as you guys obviously had a blast. Mind you it would be a bit of a treck from Portugal to get there (I need to win that lottery first prize
).
Do my eyes decieved me or is that a 12er hanging on the wall?
Great to see you having such a good time.
Roger
Hi Stryder and welcome to Chordie,
Lizzie (Ms.Mouse) posted this back in August and I thiink that it is just what you are looking for: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=15549

Hi John,
This should be in 'Song Requests' not in 'Music Theory', no doubt Jerome or Russ will move it for you.
That aside, although I cannot help with tabs but I do have the original music score for this song and can scan it and forward it to you if you are able to read sheet music.
Roger
Sorry to hear that you are due for surgery but very pleased that it is not more serious.
Here is a couple of lines that might help towards your recovery song:
"To be on your own, with no direction home,
Like a complete unknown, like a removed gall stone."
All the best,
Roger
I play everyday with one of the five guitars i have and have written 3 complete songs just this month.
I think that three posts in the Songwriting section, and some recording, is now called for
.
Roger
Sorry for the slight deviation Pix.
Hi Dwight and welcome to Chordie. Your post has just brightened my day by giving me a good laugh at myself.
I read your post and thought you were saying that you were a 'yob' until 1978 when you got married. Let me explain that here in England a 'yob' is 'an aggressive, surly youth' (dictionary definition).
It took a second reading to realise that you meant Year Of Birth. Oh silly me
.
Roger
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Roger
Hi and welcome to Chordie,
This is not a real easy song but I have sent the chords for you to see if you can do anything with it.
Roger
Hi Aralyn,

Could have been a Gremlin in the server or a bug in the software even
!!!
Thankfully the Mighty Admin has the Gremlin Gun and the Bug Buster so he sought out and destroyed it, whatever it was.

Christmas 1958. Me on the left, my brother Colin on the right.

Proudly displaying our Christmas presents. A plastic, 4 string (metal), Elvis labeled guitar apiece. With them came pitchpipes for tuning, a simple songbook and best of all an "AutoChord". This was a plastic box that strapped on the neck with buttons to press to play the chords, this made playing our first songs so easy.

"Flash Gordon" from Queen.

Hi Chrissie and welcome to Chordie,
Please, there is no need to shout.
If you open the song you want to print, halfway down the right side of the page, between 'auto-scroll' and 'chopro' you will see the 'print' button.
Roger
Hi David,
It is illegal to post copyrite material so I have had to remove the lyrics and chords.
Welcome to Chordie but please read the 'Stickys' at the start of each section. They are there for your guidance so that you do not make mistakes like this.
It is commendable that you have taken the time to correct this song but what you should do is contact the site that hosts the incorrect version (look again at the song on Chordie and you will see it shown at the top of the page). You can then submit your alterations for their listing or better still request that they display your version of the song.
Roger
Thanks Dino but it is Daddycool's song really, I just tweaked it a bit
.
Thanks too Ark and Butch.
Roger
Well done Ian I am so pleased to have heard this song. Great stuff.
Roger
Well Daddycool that was a bit of a shock for me when I came to Chordie this evening. I particularly liked this song when I first played it but felt I could improve it somewhat so I am pleased you like both my slight changes to your song and my recording of it.
I have uploaded it to 'Friends of Chordie': http://www.myspace.com/friendsofchordie if anyone wished to assault their ears
.

Hi Helena,
I got no reply from him so I changed his password and advised him of the change so hopefully he will have no problems if he returns to the fold. From his past history here I am also sure that he has not maliciously done anything wrong.
My health is rather up and down - bad morning and afternoon but picked up somewhat this evening. Unfortunately it is a waiting game and I am just hoping that nature will quickly put things back right. Thanks.
Roger
Niel, you sign yourself out with the word "respectfully", however you have shown no respect at all to Phill.
You were politely asked to post your poems in their own topic and you chose to pollute Phill's thread with three more poems of your own. You were also advised that writing in capital letters is the written equivalent of shouting and considered to be both rude and bad manners, this you also deliberately ignored.
Do you really want to be welcomed into Chordie and your work to receive acclaim on it's own merit? If so you need to mend your ways.
As to the quality of your work. I for one have not bothered to read any one of your poems and will not do so until your attitude changes.
Roger
Hi Helena,
Sadly Eagleye has not posted any messages since 26th Dec 2009 so he is unlikely to see your post. I have therefore sent him the following e-mail:
Hi Eagleeye,
This message has just been posted by Old Doll in the Chat Corner:
"Hello Sir,
I recently have been recieving VIRUS EMAILS FROM YOU..
They are both from your Chordie name here as above, and your private email address.
I believe you have been hacked ? Or Phished ? If there the terms to use about this problem !
I strongly suggest you change your password, it may erase the situation for you.
I wish you and yours a happy day.
Old Doll."
As you have not posted since December last year I am writing privately to you.
If I do not get a reply in two days I will have to take the following action to try to prevent this. I will change your Chordie password and advise you of the change but I sincerely hope that you are able to contact me first.
Take care,
Roger
Hi Chris,
It sounds as though your songbook is 'maxed out'. There is a limit of 100 songs per songbook so you have 2 options: either remove some songs from your songbook to make room for new ones or start a new sonbook.
Roger
Hi Danny,
Looking at a the 100s of chords available on a chart and then thinking about learning chords can be pretty daunting. Do not try and learn chords per se instead learn songs.
Pick a song that you like that has say just three chords in it. Finger the first chord and strum it making sure that none of the strings are deadened then try playing a repetition of three beats on that chord and lifting your fingers just off the strings for the fourth, put them back on back on for the 5th, 6th, and 7th and lifted for the 8th and so on whilst keeping the beat constant. Do this for each chord individually and them try playing 4 beats of each chord in turn. Then put it to the song. You can then gradually increase the complexity of the songs you are playing.
Keep in mine what Jerome has said as you will have to learn all these chords eventually but walk before you try to run
.
