Mine are primarily Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, John Prine, Guy Clark, James Taylor, and similar not-quite-folk-not-quite-country-not-quite-rock song writers who also happen to be pretty wicked with a six string.

Looks like you got the picture up.  Lovely guitar.  Happy NGD.  Is that a cedar top?  I want a cedar top guitar something awful.

Probably what Roger said, but a funny way saying it.

Ultimate Guitar has an app that I use.  It's UG Tabs.  Not a real creative title.  It's pretty handy.  You need to set up an Ultimate Guitar account, which is free.  The app costs a few bucks.  Then anything you mark on your account as a Favorite synchs between your tablet and computer.  Also, if you are out of signal range, the favorites are stored to your tablet's memory, so they will still be available.  The only problem I've had with it so far is that changes to songs (auto-play speed and key being the ones I do most) don't synch.  They are device dependent.  That's a pretty small thing that probably isn't worth the energy to type it out.

You left out the most important details.

Will MeKidsGrandpa make an appearance and play, and will Katey Bug dance?

Good gravy, that sounds rough.  Best of luck to you buddy.  It's amazing what can be done lathroscopically (is that the right word?).

I was listening to Ramblin' Jack Elliott this AM and was thinking that he's got probably the perfect name.  Ramblin' Jack Elliott.  It rolls off the tongue.  It's memorable.  It's easy to spell.  Are there any better names?  The only one I can think of that is on par (and I'll bet Topdown has played with this guy because they are both from the same region of southern Virginia and both played at the same bars at roughly the same time) is Steady Rollin' Bob Margolin

What are your candidates?

While really terrific stage names, Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf don't count because those are made up names.  You need the real names, modifiers acceptable.

I have to use up a lot of annual leave because I'm way over my maximum carryover amount.  That said - it's hard to get away and I'm getting away for a long weekend in the beginning of August.  I'll try.  Can't promise. If we do schedule some time up in Elmira, I'll give you a ring (or a ping, or something that ends in "ing")

Coccooning is definitely the norm here.  I'm just not normal.

Naoslager -

I've knocked on every door in my neighborhood.  I've been inside probably about a third of the homes.  Our neighborhood (residential zone) is between a library (commercial zone) and a hospital (commercial zone) so we have special case things come up with the town from time to time.  When these affect our neighborhood, my wife and I bring it to the attention of our neighbors so we can act in concert.  If you want to get to know your neighbors, go meet them.  All the dog walkers know one another pretty well.  Also, I sit on a porch swing on a frame out in our front yard and pick guitar.  Folks come by and chat.  It's great.  As a result, we frequently have informal get togethers on the spur of the moment.  Just Sunday we had a Cinco de Mayo party with fifteen folks at the house that no one even thought to do it until 2:00.  By 5:00, we had dinner, drinks, games, and folks dropping in.  Everyone pitched in some and so no one had any burden.  Good stuff.

The 000-15M is my favorite too.  However, at this point I think I'm going to keep working on scales and soloing over scales and arpeggios and sometime in the distant future when it begins to sound half as good as Detman101 or Normtheguitar or wlbaye, then I will treat myself instead to an acoustic archtop The Loar.

Stuffed full of fat and bike time.  Tough to beat.  Real tough to beat.

I'd definitely have to recommend against the whole kidnapping concept.

I'm not sure if you heard about the rescue of three girls who had been kidnapped and were being held against their will.  A regular joe heard screaming and chose to respond to it.  He did the right thing and helped to get those unfortunates rescued.

He's been all over the internet in interviews by folks who think he's "different", but I think what's remarkable about him is that he's not different at all.  He was just a guy having lunch and by doing the right thing made a huge difference.  He's got a real presence about himself - completely comfortable in his own skin.

Anyway - kudos to him.

Let us know.  We're hoping to get up to somewhere near Elmira this summer to visit my sister.  It's possible we could swing by other parts of the state.  Possible.  Emphasis on the uncertainty.  My job has been unpredictable for the past year.

Used D-15M for $949 doesn't sound like a bargain to me.  I've negotiated new ones down to the $899 range but couldn't get satisfied enough with the set costs for electronics to pull the trigger.

I couldn't understand a word with so much reverb in the vocals.  I saw a stuffed frog and a little girl without the guitar player playing the guitar.  What lead to that?

You'll need your hydraulic underwear too.

What bucknbaja said.

Also, welcome to both of you.

I heard that Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were talking to Joe Walsh and another person whose name I didn't catch.  If they choose to tour together, I really, really, really, really, really hope they call the band The Beagles.

When I fly with a guitar, I take it as carry on then check it at the gate.  I have a hard shell case.  Without a hard shell case, I'd get a hard shell case, and then proceed.

Good luck with getting work while on vacation.

My feeling is that you didn't have to like Country Music to like George Jones but if you like Country Music you had to like George Jones. He sang like he felt it. RIP

It's kind of neat seeing who has the "Holy Moley, I'm posing with George Jones!"   Even Brad Paisley and Merle Haggard each have one on their pages, and you can tell that each of them is more or less in awe.  And this isn't any young Merle Haggard either (if there ever was a young Merle Haggard).
