I LOVE A BIT OF SCI-FI. nice one bill, good story with a twist in the tale. i had a quick go and worked out a nice riff, very alice cooper, i just don't have the voice. lets see how BGD gets on, then i may give it a go.  once again....nice one

I had an Ecko 12er back in the 70's which I swapped for my first bass, which I bought new, and I'm sure it came heavy, light heavy. Maybe I'm wrong?

point of interest here; i always thought the heavy string was supposed to be first lighter second. am i wrong?

the mistake i made on my 12er was buying a heavy gauge string set and i'm too tight to dump them and buy a new lighter set!

have to agree with dino, great story, haven't had the chance to play it through yet but i will and let you know.
i'm glad you trimmed the lines down to fit the rhythm and flow of the song. will it be a country feel or blues? or maybe something else?

"crumbs from the table" and being charged the earth for them!

another earthy and gritty poem, and very contentious at this moment with all the scandal pertaining to the actual "panama papers" all our (so called) leaders who charge us the earth in taxes while they hide their money away in "off shore" accounts so they don't pay any. now that's a cause for war.

as you can see you've got me all worked up, so your poem worked....great work

thanks dino glad you like them.

keepitreal, yes she is my 3 year old granddaughter, Darcie. it is a sad tale but you cant write lovey-dovey songs all the time?

TF, i'm glad people like one or the other. no all live instruments, it's my joy and my hobby. funnily enough, it's only guitar bass keyboards and drums i've ever wanted to play.

the things we take for granted someone else is praying for....what a brilliant quote. sorry `bout your dad, it must have made things hard for you kids and your mam. still gave you plenty to write about. the character maggie was based on my grandmother who i used to call "my ngu" it's actually mamgu, welsh for grandmother, though she was anything but a tramp/hobo.

thanks unclejoe.

i try my best grah.

also thanks kimnoblemusic, appreciate the listen and critique.

thanks ark, always good to hear from you.

Hi Bill, so glad to hear Dondra is doing better, condolences for the cat. Best wishes to you both from the Welsh connection.

i have a tuner named "qwick tuner" that i find good and has in and out plugs, but i wouldn't advise it for stage work. i prefer to use a pedal (they all seem to come with built in tuners these days) which is a boss ME 50. i have a digitech vocalist 2 which also has a tuner and i use this one on stage. i recently bought a clip on tuner which cost just £5 including postage which i use mainly for my acoustics but also works fine for tuning after string changes on my telecaster and bass guitar.

hi jim, very touching performance and so professional. they sing so well together. but it's also to do with how the song is written and IMHO you are one of the best writers on chordie. very well done, thanks for sharing and keep on doing what you do so well.

it's great to see how proper musicians and writers do it and the process by which they got together to arrange and record their songs. i'd watch stuff like this all day long. big thanks.

as i read i envisioned a high bridge with iron work so the graphite ist could have a platform to work from. then after thinking about it for a while i thought it might be a low bridge? so he could work from ground level.

very deep and very sad and most of all, well observed

GREAT PICS. i used to have a poopyface till the wife kept laughing at me, that was when we were still courting, she doesn't come to gigs anymore so who knows i may still be poopy facing?

just had a giggle at the spellcheck, it allows "poopyface," but not "poopyfacing"....go figure?

since i joined...well a while ago, the one thing i have noticed is that weekends from friday, seem to get very few posts. i guess that means that people are busier on fridays?
my daughter is on FB and some other sites and her phone is peeping every couple of seconds! what i'd like to know is why do people think the rest of the world need to know when they've gone to the shop for a loaf of bread? (that's not what i was going to put here but it is cleaner lol)

nice one rog, i had a go at two in swansea last year, the black and white (lennon) and same as you've got there, which is the one i preferred, but it had probs with the jack switch which crackled. i told them about it but i lost interest so i didn't go back. i almost bought a violin bass (mccartney) in liverpool at the beatles museum, it was £1000, the wife said have it (it was my 60th birthday) but sanity prevailed. they are a players guitar.

ps, they were all lefties!

very touching mojo, please keep safe. TF makes a good point; why not use both? great recording too, your voice and guitar go well together. like all great songs; it reminds you of something but you cant place it....well done.

condolences for your friend, that's the second one this week on chordie, and three people that i know locally.

hey Jandle, such a tearjerking thought that you've made into a poem. it's such a sad subject but i know scientists are working to find a cure, maybe it will come but too late for your mum, and for that i am so sorry.

i know the feeling; you had thoughts running around your head and like a true composer you wrote them down.

well done and thanks for sharing.

hi jim, this is a lovely song. i played it through before listening to your recording and i wasn't that far out. if you don't mind i will send you a couple of chord changes (which you can throw out) just to give you an idea of how i hear it.

great song ji, you just keep getting better
