Per, the creator of Chordie uses Firefox I think, pretty sure he does.
Maybe he is having the same problems all you firefox users are having that us I.E are not getting .lol

I am sure Per could sort this when he reads here and sees but the best way to report things like this is to e mail him at admin@chordie.com

Much better way as he does not always manage to get to read everything in here.

Lena,
I am getting more and more emails from " admin" that have nothing to do with chordie.

I think the mentallity of these spammers is to have it coming from admin since so many are on community websites. It is making you think it is from something which you are part of. Then when you open it up you find you have been SPAMMINATED lol

Hi lena

Without a doubt it is the stones that do this far better.
Subo has a good voice but is over rated a lot.

for me hands down the stones get this,

Also guns 'n' roses do a version of this too. not got time to chuck a link up as I am already late to take my boy to his footy game.

I show my 13 yr old son how to play chords by using a chord chart. If i could just get him to be patient through the break in period he could learn. He wants to give up after just a few minutes of practice. .

I got my son an electric guitar last year for crimbo. It kept him occupied for about 3 days on and off. It is now back in its box. He was interested but I think they think they can just pick it up and do it.

I would say Zurf's advice is good, hold on to it. I am keeping this guitar for when my son says " I want to learn"

Even when kids seem to be really interested they lose it very quickly when they have to actually learn something.
My daughter is a different story, she is learning the violin and the flute and can play a wee bit on the keyboard and she is only 9

oh yeah,
avon's skin so soft does not work for everyone for some reason.
I now folk that swear by it and I know others including me that have tried it and still got eaten alive.

An establishment by loch lomondside called The Cruin have it behind the bar for folk that have to go outside for a fag, they have this on the bar free to use.
The midgies are really bad west end of scotland because of the damp air.

I might try that concoction out that Doll has said.
But my most favourite thing is " BIFF EM" nothing has worked as good as that.

ahhhhh
Ardverikie estate, near Loch Laggan.

It is more nearer Laggan village. I dont know why loch laggan is called so when it is about 9 miles down the road.
This is the area where the spey dam is. Also the are where i go up to go to the cottages when i vanish wit hthe wife and kids. My firend has a 2 cottages joined together up there. It is great to get away.
But ye dont get much midgies up the hills there as there is always a breeze blowing.

Also, if anyone watches "monarch of the glen" and is intersted, on the entrance to the cottages where i go we got the sign for " glenbogle wildlife park" on the gate to the cottage.

I also got tons of pics from all over that area, some are on my face book and some on flickr and some stashed in my PC.
Fishing is good up there too as no one is allowed to fish on the river passed the dam apart fro mresidents so guess what..... I can!!

Lena,
Writing yuor thoughts down whether they be poems or songs can be a very good way of getting through things I have found in the past.
Also when something happens in life like love, death, tragedy etc it is always the best time to sit down and spew your feelings onto paper/computer, when all the strong emmotions are there and fresh in your mind.

Ken

Ok no problem dfoskey.

I have said enough on this and willnot continue it to ruin the thread more.

Cheers

good advice from both. I do both.
I have one of my guitars on a floor stand away from any source of heat including direct sunlight. And I have one hanging on my wall with a wall hanger. There has been a debate about these wall hangers before about how they can twist the neck but I have not had any problem in the 5 or 6 years I have had this hanging.

I have a few other guitars that are upstairs. one is in it's travel bag and in a cupboard. I play this a lot when i go out in the hills and it has never been damaged by storage in there.
Another one I have in another cupboard on the top shelf lying flat gather dust. Amazing how much dust it can gather up there when ye think nothing goes in or out for ages.
My mandolin is also on a floor stand.
Since I mostly play my 6 string lorenzo and the mandolin I have them handy to pick up whenever I want.

All my storage will change in a few months hopefully as I have this house on the market and going for another house with an extra room that I plan to turn into a music room. My wife thinks it will be an excerise/leisure/computer/drying room. And she will probably win sad but my instruments, all 25 of them will be there are ready to play...I hope

Ken

Very well said Zurf.

Wlbaye lmoa, good on ye

Ken

Zurf,
i wouldnt publish any emails I dont think.
I am sorry if I come across here as being negative towards your beliefs, I totaly respect everyone's beliefs. whatever anyone wants to believe in is fine with me, even if I do question it sometimes.

It is hard not to get into politics and religion sometimes, like here just now.
So many have different opinions and some that have really strong opinions will not stop at agreeing to disagree. I can do that but some cannot. I know you can too. But since it is public it leaves it open for folk that cannot to speak their mind if they see an opporunity to do so, and I would not say this is a bad thing. It is called freedom of speech, something we can have in a lot of places in the world and not so much in other places.

If everyone just listened to everything I said and obeyed everything I say then there would be no problems anywhere lol lol yes twas a joke!! ( for those that thought they would take me seriously there)

I even come across in some other forums as anti american but I really am not, I just question a lot of things they say. I would question the french a lot too if I could understand them.
I see all humans on this planet as equal, I try not to differentiate anyone even though that is hard not to.

and to tubatooter.
your post me me laugh at the  " how long was I out for".

I dont want to highjack this thread Zurf as it started out very good wit hgood intentions etc but since ye mentioned something i want to ask...

If you have not to hate your enemies then does this mean to like them?
If you have not to hate them then how are you suppose to fight them? you cannot fight something you like or have no opinions over.
to fight something you must have bad feelings towards it ot you will lose the fight before the battle has begun.
I think maybe in past days  and perhaps in these days where an enemy is made of a proper army then maybe you could say do not hate your enemy as they are obeying orders by a government. But people like bin laden and his men I would say definitly hate him and all that carry out terrorist acts.
I would say I hate them as they have no rules or respect for human...innocent human lives.

Maybe a book of some sot of god would say do not hate but the person that wrote these words can never say they have never hated someone without being a hypocrite. I do not believe that there is anyone on this planet that do not hate someone. They might disguise it as " not really liking the person" but it boils down to hate. Maybe not a degree of hate they would feel towards a terrorist but hate all the same.
To hate is part of human nature as is love. There is no point in a good book trying to change our natural human nature. All animals on this planet will hate something or someone.
I dont believe hate got anyone into this mess. It was the west interfering in other cultures etc that got us all into this mess. Whether the west were right or wrong to go and interfere is another matter but this is what I believe and has been documented as being the fault of terrorism today that we are getting.
But on top of this, the governments dont make it much better by propagandaing their beliefs to everyone on TV, folk that dont have a clue what is goijng on but when they are told by an oficial and it sounds convincing they will believe as they have no reason not to believe.

Lots of folk say they hate muslims just now... I think this is very wrong and I would welcome any muslim wanting to stay in scotland with open arms but if I found out any were terrorists ( or anyone else not just muslims) I would take an instant feeling of hate towards them.

So if hate got us into this mess then "hate" is another word for " america, the UK and NATO"

if this is too political and the moderators want to then delete this post if you want. I really dont mind as I dont agree with political stuff in here.

"slap on the hand.bumm and face for me"

Ken

i would hate to see this turn into a political thread because I just would not be able to keep quiet lol
BUT, even if Bin Laden was caught terrorism will not stop there. Even when Binny man dies terrorists will "fight" on in his name.
The extremists are turning the world into what it is today.....an unsafe planet to live.

now since we cannot have political arguments here  i shall go elsewhere and type my thoughts on this politically lol

Anyway, I wont go on about that too much.

Zurf,
Very nice words you typed there.
I am not into remembering much and for memorials etc. The reason is because by the time I am 68 there will probably be some sort of memorial every day nearly. When there are too many the important ones will fade away with the rest no matter how hard people try to keep them up.

But I do hope all your memorials you are having today go well and peaceful.

I was going to say I hope one day there will be true world peace but there never will be sadly, not in our lifetime anyway.

Ken

well after listening topunk ( slf, pistols, exploited, alarm, skids, undertones ) in the eighties, then a lot of heavy rock ( acdc, iron maiden, led zep, sabbath) I got to hear Pink Floyd's The wall, final cut, medal, piper at the gates of dawn in about 1984. All of these made a really big impact on me, especially "piper at the gates of dawn". It made me think there was more to music than just drums, guitar, bass and vocals and a bit of synth, it made me realise the diversity in music that one band could make and there was no rules to music,
then I got heavily introduced to Syd barrett's solo albums, all of his songs inspired my songwriting when i started writing my own stuff.

So out of all these if I had to say ONE album it would be

Syd Barrett;'s

" the madcap laughs"

if you ever hear it you will agree the singing is downright awful ( but I love it) and the music is a bit....well unprepared but the structure of all the songs are masterpieces.
For hearing 3 syd barrett songs pretty much the way he played and sang them I do three songs on one video

what a great reason to plug myself ,lol

Ken

hmmm osrry if i come across that way,
I just let some things iritate me that shouldnt really but then they should read things and they should not come in here and make their first post as a mr know it all. There will be probably a lot of folk in here that know a lot more than him probably unless he is eric clapton in disguise, if so then my full grumbling appologies but i tihnk not!
I dont even think we will hear from this guy again as he jus came to tell us how great he is.

I am all for everyone speaking their mind ( I cannot relaly complain if anyone does can I? lol )
but their is speaking your mind and down right " I know everything and this site is wrong" sort of person.
the only thing i am against is more women drivers coming on the roads lol lol

OK time for me to go into hiding
