I really like the music here
But i expect that for free

Time to respect the musician
Put some money in his hat

He`s done his time
You only too happy
to pay for other things
beer food and wine

Time to respect the musician
He can`t live on love
Put some money in his hat

I`m sure some of u can relate to this, how about some chords eh?

Please if you have a potential song ie just lyrics without chords can you post them in the poem section as this is Chordie guidelines read stick at the top of the forum.
The songwriting forum is for completed songs and questions about songwriting in general.
Thanks
Ark.

May I direct you to the 1:52:00 mark for one of the most iconic songs in all of Prog Rock history ... SUPPER'S READY:

Opinions abound about the performances of the various players, in comparison to the originals. But IMHO this group have done an extraordinary job of capturing the essence of the work, even if they don't sound like a recorded lip-synch. You'll notice that the bassist plays his guitars left-handed, but that they are strung for a right-handed person! I can't imagine having to learn everything upside down! And I also think vocalist Nad Sylvan has done a first-rate job of capturing Peter Gabriel's intensity and inflection, even if he's not identical.

Hope you enjoy this ... I certainly have!

I saw Genesis back in 1972 in a small venue with the mostly the original line up and wow I was blown away at the time. Peter Gabriel had his hair shaved at the front a very menacing look and during the set donned his now famous head gear.
A long haired Phil Collins played the drums with gusto... smile
Suppers Ready was and still is one of my favourite Genesis pieces I still know all the words. smile
The musical talent was was so oblivious collectively and individually as history proved it to be.
I enjoyed the revisit thanks. The lead singer certainly has a Peter Gabriel like voice and the musical arrangements were were very similar to original.
Great Thread Thanks.
I guess you've got ELP lined up some where... smile

Thanks for the listen and comment Graham.

The piece had about 8 or 9 tracks so it was a bit tricky to fit together Jeff thanks for the listen and the comment.
(Mike Oldfield) Thats not to shabby..  smile

Phill glad you like it. It's really only a simple melody the mixing was the hardest thing.
It's best not to stand in the way of a man and his curry...   lol
Thanks for the listen and comment.

and thanks to all those that listened or triggered the counter over 25 they didn't comment..  and will remain nameless.....  lol

Hi Phill
I enjoyed that. Though the content was a little depressing I thought the tone was quite upbeat and buskersque...:) The accordion sounded just right for the song.
I guess the lyrics strikes a chord (no pun intended) with the busking fraternity.
good job

Hi
I recorded this a few months back and have it on ourstage. It's doing reasonably well.... well for me  smile
Pure ambient no guitars no lyrics just a slow build of multi tracks along a theme..
best listened to with earphones or a decent sound sound system.
Just thought I share..
Thanks ark.

Sort of a throw back to the 60's kind of song...
But the lyrics I guess are timeless.

Hi Phill
Nice underlying melody and I liked the varying textures of guitar and keyboard echoing the main theme of the melody.
Standing alone as an easy listening piece it's good not sure where lyrics would fit in without a rewrite.
Still it's be done before.  smile

Sounds a bit like my brother Russ. He was 11years older then me and I always thought he talked down to me. I really don't think he meant to but I guess it was an older brother thing and we didn't have much in common.
He passed away a couple years ago and I still don't know what I felt about him.

I can see your point Phill and I guess it could frustrating but I don't think a songs name has ever held the song back if it's a great one.
Bohemian Rhapsody springs to mind I don't think it's even got a hook.
Anyway just whip out your iPhone and Shazam it instant recognition mind you have to fast. LOL..

Juliet:
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."

Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2)
We'll maybe that's true for songs are names really so important. I guess the contents are what's matters. Songs like people become their name even if perhaps the title is meaningless.

I usually have no trouble naming songs with lyrics I just call it what says on the tin simple but true for me.
Naming instrumentals songs to me are a lot harder mostly I have no clear idea what song is about though occasionally I start with a name. Some songs I've never named they just have a date. Mostly I just listen to finished song and see what pictures it paints in my mind and take from there...it doesn't always work.

I enjoyed all Robin Williams films he was a great actor and comic genius.
I remembered laughing till I cried listening to his comic stand up routine.
So sad that such a talent was blighted with depression.
RIP Robin and thanks for the laughs.
