Thank you for the gift, sir.

This is an amazing song, James. I found it at a time when I was staring at a hole, willing myself not to fall in. Thanks for writing the song that got me out.

A great write, Jeff. Hope it helped you sleep afterwards. (I know how cathartic those songs can be, although I don't play my one out that often, because it never seems to be appreciated.)

http://www.harptabs.com has harmonica tablature for most songs, and there are several good YouTube accounts with videos.

Good luck, Wayne. I too am trying to learn harmonica, but when trying to play guitar and harmonica together, something entertaining happens. (The harp stand slips forward so that I can't reach the instrument.) Also, best wishes for the mandolin playing.

Hi, all.
I played a folk night on Wednesday, and somebody played a fantastic little song which was played on a bouzouki- they've emailed me the chords and lyrics, but I can't work out how to get the sound on a guitar. Have any of you got any ideas?
Thanks,
Shady

Thanks, Ark.
Concerning the pickup question- can somebody give me an answer on this? (I'm intending to play this one out at a folk night on Wednesday, and if I've got that info wrong, it's not gonna go down so well.)
Thanks for the positive comments so far- heck, what am I saying? All I've got is positive comments so far!
Thanks, all.

Nice song, Selso.
A beautiful country-tinged tribute, which would do your brother proud, I'm sure. I can hear a slight Van Zandt influence on that track, and most of your other stuff. Thanks for the friend request.

Not bad at all. What a great tribute to a great man. He truly did more for music then any of us ever will. Great song Shady. You'll have teach me the deal with Soundclick. Cant seem to figure it out for some reason.
OK...
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default … dID=791336
Click that link, then click play on the first song in the player. "Play On Music Maestro". Then, you can enjoy the track.
Hope that helps.
EDIT: Lyrical "truth" question- how do you attach a pickup to a piece of wood? I think it's glue, rather than nails, right? (For accuracy's sake, if I've got that line wrong, I'm willing to change it.)

This is a new one, written, as the subject line states, in tribute to Les Paul.
Chordpro error: This is not a valid artistname. You will have to specify an artistname in the form {st: Artistname} in the beginning of the code.
I think the formatting's gone slightly funky..Roger, help?
At least you can see it this time.
Enjoy,
Shady
PS: For a better idea of how it should sound, listen to the mp3 on my Soundclick page.

Topic: Adobe Audition and creating bass tracks with an acoustic guitar. (5 replies, posted in Recording)
Hi, all.
My primary means of recording is through Adobe Audition, as it is the one program which I have that resembles a semi-decent recording program. My question relates to whether it is possible within that program to alter the frequency of an acoustic guitar track so that it could be made to resemble a bass track? (I'm not in the position to purchase a bass at this point in time, due to space constraints with other instruments.)
Forgive me if I've asked an impossible question, thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to offer,
Shady

Re: What comes first: Lyrics or music (10 replies, posted in Songwriting)
I'm generally a lyrics first person, but occasionally I'll start playing a tune, then think of some words which I begin singing over it...then that becomes the melody, or lack of it, in my case. ![]()

De nada, Kenny. (This is ironic, considering Chris was Argentinian- that's the Spanish for "You're welcome"- literally "It's nothing.") Linguistics lesson over with- it's a great song.

Great track, Ken. I played through it a little, but got lost at the point where I had to scroll down for the next line of lyrics- my fault, though. Gem of a song, and I can imagine somebody like Willie, or Waylon, singing it.

Thanks, Kenny.
I've updated with a website link now, but will probably change it to include my MySpace, which is generally more up to date with songs once they're out of the "demo" stage. I'll try "Your insights taught me wisdom" when I play it next.
Thanks again,

Thanks, Ark-
I like it, but I'll tinker with it some more, because it would have to be sung in a different way to make it fit.
Thanks again,
