I know exactly what you are saying. On some pickups the six magnets are the same and on some the outer magnets sit lower than the middle ones. I am most certainly not an expert, but I think it is just a difference from how one pickup was made compared to another. You can adjust the complete pickup up or down or raise or drop one side or the other but you can't adjust the magnets individually. I had some really cheap starcaster pickups and changed to mim pickups and also changed to 500 pots and the difference was unbelievable. Since both of your guitars are made by Fender you can easily and affordably change anything you want and as long as it is Fender or licensed by Fender it is a pretty easy swap. Remember Leo Fenders' goal was to make a guitar that could be easily changed or upgraded to suit the guitarist so have fun!

Hi, Check out the mojo picks on e-bay. They are really a fine pick. I have bought a couple of 1953s' (birth year ) and love them. On my accoustic I use a pretty thin dava control. I like a lot of texture on a pick.

Re: Fender Strat: maple or rosewood fingerboard? (6 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
IMHO, I prefer maple. I like the way it looks, I like the way it feels, I even think it is neat the way it ages. I have a maple necked strat and a maple necked tel. Supposedly all the early Fenders were maple necks, Leo Fender noticed the way that his necks looked more worn than the Gibsons when viewed on TV and started offering them with rosewood fingerboards. Of course this is just my 2 cents worth.

Wow! I have never seen some of those shapes. Quite familiar with a few of those, although I used the large post that came with that magical machine. Thanks, Topdown for the trip down memory lane.

I just checked out the squido blog. I have always thought the Fender Broadcaster had to be renamed because it infringed on a Gretsh drum set with a similar name and became the Telecaster. The Strat came along a few years later.

On most all chords my left hands' (I'm RH'd) palm faces the sky. However, on the B7 it faces me. I have a tough time with the B7 when using a capo.

Re: F#m and Bm (17 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Barre chords make playing so much easier and chord changes so much faster. I wish I would have forced myself to learn them years ago instead of avoiding songs that contained them. I think I will always avoid songs that have those four fret wide chords, my hands are to small.

Thanks Ian J. That is pretty handy! I am thinking of getting one of those robotic automatic tuners. Has anyone tried one?

every- attic -does- get- by- especially. I came up with this gem probably 40 years ago and it still works for me although I am sure I could probably come up with something not quite so stupid today.

I went in with my sister and bought Meet The Beatles back in 1963. We saved a buck by getting the mono version.

That still technically "F" is much closer to Fmaj7. I first learned the "F" just using the DGBE strings, where I didn't have to bar the first fret or use my little finger. I then, about 30 years later, learned (ie. practiced) the "F" barred, and that opened up the neck to me.

Hi, I just read Wonderful Tonight by Patti Boyd. I learned so many new things about the Beatles and George. I have been a huge fan from the first time I saw them on Ed Sullivan waaay back when. One thing about George I learned from Boyds' book was that George and Mick Fleetwood were brother-in-laws for a while.

Re: Thinner necked classical (2 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Check out Wechter guitars. I have the pathmaker acoustic model (not a classical) but I know they are really big in classical guitars. The neck on mine is smaller and faster than on my strat. Google Wechter or look Wechter up on youtube. THey plek tune their guitars which is really nice.

Re: The source of this topic: what was the best concert you ever saw (11 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
Jethro Tull, Alice Cooper, the Eagles, Arlo Guthrie, Gordon Lightfoot, and Harry Chapin were all great concerts that I really liked. Tull and Cooper had such great stage shows. The Eagles sounded exactly the same in person as on the radio. Guthrie (twice), Chapin (twice), and Lightfoot were all so good because they really interacted with the audience and you left the concert feeling as if you were leaving a good friends house. Now days I love seeing any Beatle tribute band that comes to the area.

Re: IN ADDITION ABOUT CHORDIANS (15 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I am an old baby boomer who first took lessons 40 years ago. I never liked playing the old Mel Bay songs and lost interest. Over the years I have bought new guitars and have been excited about playing for very short spells, and to be honest have never been very good. . . . . . but since I discovered chordie I truly love playing. I probably play 10 or more hours a week. I have gotten so much better at moving up and down the neck and can now play the same chords several different ways. I am still learning ways to use chordie, I like the changes made to the site and I am truly greatful to all involved.
